Re: 5 subs
If that's true, it's a crazy decision that will only favour the big clubs with their multi international squads.
Bet no-one consulted the fans.

Re: 5 subs
I suspected this would become a regular feature, they'll probably keep the drinks breaks as well, far too many stoppages in the game nowadays, is it any wonder many of the games have lacked flow since the restart.

Re: 5 subs
How long I wonder, before the drinks break is extended to allow for TV adverts? The game's gone crazy.

Re: 5 subs
Definitely not a fan of 5 subs being available. One of the skills of management is to make the most of the three subs available as regards changing tactics. Too many subs means that too many different tactical choices are available for the big squads.

Re: 5 subs
Wrong on so many levels, it favours the bigger clubs yet again.
Re: 5 subs
Don't knock it. If our squad gets any smaller Sean will be asking fans to bring their boots and shin padsGordaleman wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 4:00 pmIf that's true, it's a crazy decision that will only favour the big clubs with their multi international squads.

On a serious note. Sadly. If this is put to a vote. The majority would be in favour. It's a terrible idea.
Re: 5 subs
Football is getting too Americanised. These drinks breaks are a joke as are the countdowns before the game.

Re: 5 subs
Every single team in the PL has the funds to be able to have a squad and bench for the capability of making 5 subs in a game. All clubs obviously can’t afford to have players on the bench like Man City but then again those clubs don’t have players in the starting 11 like Man City. So what’s the issue?Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 4:11 pmWrong on so many levels, it favours the bigger clubs yet again.

Re: 5 subs
It is all progress as far as those running the game is concerned.
I am always told by the modern fans that all these changes are good for the game and that I should not live in the past when no subs were allowed, most people knew the interpretation of the offside law ---even the officials ---- players reluctantly accepted the decisions of the onfield officials and got on with the game, you could instantly get excited when a goal was scored, players could win the ball in fair tackles without fear of receiving a caution etc., etc.
Everything is good for the game ---FIFA say so!

Re: 5 subs
It will go to a vote and they need 14 clubs to vote in favour of it. Four clubs voted against it recently. I did see the list and I do recall that Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Sheffield United were three of them. The fourth wasn't us.
Re: 5 subs
Be interesting to see if we voted the same way again. Not that it has affected us. It seems to have galvanised us somewhat.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 4:29 pmIt will go to a vote and they need 14 clubs to vote in favour of it. Four clubs voted against it recently. Re: 5 subs
Didn`t Citeh have something like 350 million plus on the bench when we had 8 keepers and a few kids?
Yeah, that seems (Financial) Fair Play

Re: 5 subs
Well, obviously. So do all the clubs in the lower leagues. All they have to do is spend less on the players in the first team and they can spend more on the subs.Dyched wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 4:28 pmEvery single team in the PL has the funds to be able to have a squad and bench for the capability of making 5 subs in a game. The question is, does it help the game if the relatively poorer clubs have to either cut the costs of their first team or else play with fewer top class subs, while the relatively richer clubs carry on regardless?
Re: 5 subs
Do you think those who drink Evian are?
You would have thought marketing bottled water with that name would be a Ratner moment.
I mean who would be so naive to buy a bottle with that name when it is much cheaper on tap?
