You win the super lottery. Which club you buying...

Post by Quickenthetempo » Mon Jul 27, 2020 2:27 pm

Just a little game to pass time while the cricket is off.

You win 500 million pound and want to get into football

1. Which club are you buying?

2. Which manager do you want?

3. First signing?

MK Dons (nearest to me)
Sean Dyche (obviously)
Ben Mee (followed closely by Pope and Tarkowski)

Burnley
Pep
Phil Foden
that leaves you with enough for not much else if you are only starting with £500m

recently public valuation of club was around £360m
- Foden £50 - £80m
- about £20m to buy Pep's contract (a year left I think)
- Pep will also expect you to spend about £1billion in players in next couple of seasons with wages of around £350m a season

- not going to work is it

Burnley.

Leave the current board in charge of most affairs as they know far more than I do how to do what they do.

But £500m is far more money than i'd ever need so would invest most of it into the club. But on areas that will help generate the club future revenue streams.

Scouting. Facilities. Infrastructure. Global presence. etc.

Maybe one marquee signing in a position we need. A young, skillfull, quick right winger. And perhaps Trippier to sit behind him!

None, but I'd make a HUGE donation to Burnley so they could upgrade the facilities at the ground and add a couple of £20m players to the squad. One condition would be the contract of the manager, and to make him an offer that he couldn't refuse.

The thing that would help the club most in the long run is the town being more prosperous and growing with young people able to stay here and have good jobs and a good standard of living and improved educational opportunities. I would be much more interested in providing venture capital for new business/industry in the town.

Probably a small local non league club and keep them ticking over.

Paying a league club is headache, the fans wouldn't appreciate what you could do if you can't propel them up the leagues like a City, Bournemouth etc.

Like they say, the quickest way to become a millionaire is to start as a billionaire and buy a football club.

If I had to, I'd buy Clitheroe FC and install myself as manager.

Accy

Paul Cook

Ivan Toney

He'd rip up that league again, and Stanley would have a great chance of promotion, and a local derby with Rovers.

Probably try and get Padiham FC into the football league. From a more business perspective though I'd buy a club with potential. So I'd be looking at Notts County, Bristol Rovers, Portsmouth.

I’d buy the Burnley fc and move it to LA.

And there’s nothing you can do about it.

I'd be investing it in Burnley FC working closely with the chairman and the board. Absolutely no need to buy them out - just put the money in.

Manager: Sean Dyche
1st Signing: Sean Dyche + promises on what money can be made available to increase playing staff and transfer budget.

Add Plymouth Argyle and Millwall to that list. Both have absolutely huge potential re fan base if successful (as has been demonstrated when they've had even partial and limited success in the past) Personally I'd go for Argyle

A Sand Wedge and start playing Golf again after a near 10 year injury break. I can get my back fixed first as well.

I would get a box at Burnley and offer to help in someway but it wouldn't involve paying the wages of anyone kicking a ball.

Love them or not, I ain't daft!

£500m?

We've had more than that.

You could barely scrape the arse end of 30+ year old PL players for 5 years wages with that kind of money.

Maybe buy your local club and spend £30 a week on wages instead of £25 they currently pay - get yourself through the Sunday league system?
