Macauley Bonne link is an interesting one and represents minimal risk at a modest outlay
Progressively proved himself at each level - not unlike Andre Gray's career progression. Ex-Ipswich youth team (like Pope) and been impressive in a relegated Charlton team (Pope and Gudmundsson) - as others have said if we are naming a match day squad of 20 next season then there's room for a fifth striker - at the same time allowing the younger players to go out on loan to L1/L2 - if appropriate

Not so much linked and more thoughts of the writer, but its another 1 of those that has been linked with us over recent windows.

Has 2 years left on his contract but now a regular with Derby playing 35 games this last season, sounds a good prospect

I like this lad , he's quick , mobile , comfortable on both feet can play either wing or as a number 9 , prefers to plays off the left coming in onto his right foot , and a composed finisher.
Good age at 24 and progressing , also as commented he would be a minimal risk in todays market.

We don't need to totally over haul the squad this summer, as generally clubs that do that struggle due to the continuity being disturbed.
Totally wrong we need to reduce the age of the squad - these cant keep playing forever you know.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Given the financial uncertainty that BFC and indeed every other club's currently dealing with, I thought Tiger76's thoughts for a "minimum requirement" sounded sensible, feasible and were above all constructive, rather than "Totally wrong"
Do you have any financially realistic suggestions as to how the club might achieve your own proposal of totally overhauling and reducing the age of the squad within the next 6-8 weeks? I guess we could register half a dozen twelve year olds, that'd at least get the squad's average age reduced, but I'd not put money on our finishing tenth again should we chose to play them instead Bardsley, Lowton, Cork, et al.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
And this is why we have had so many poor windows - this needed sorting over 12 month's ago.AfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 1:02 pmGiven the financial uncertainty that BFC and indeed every other club's currently dealing with, I thought Tiger76's thoughts for a "minimum requirement" sounded sensible, feasible and were above all constructive, rather than "Totally wrong"

We got Brownhill but need 3 or 4 more at that age.

OK BOYSIE31, You've baffled me completely:
tiger76 originally proposed:...assuming nobody leaves bar Gibson, then i'd say we only need a RW to replace Lennon, another CM/RM to replace Hendrick, maybe another CB to replace Gibson, and possibly another RB to take over from Bardsley or Lowton in time, that would be the minimum requirement for me...
Now to my limited maths seems to suggest 3 or 4 new players coming in, to which you responded: "Totally wrong..."
I asked you to clarify/expand on this and in reply you tell me: "...We got Brownhill but need 3 or 4 more at that age."
So how/why can you think tiger76's opinion 'totally wrong' whilst concurring about how many players he suggests we need to bring in?

Unlikely then if Fulham and Southampton want him, with him already being down south.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Holding midfielder apparently. Wouldn't say no to a holding midfielder. Don't know if he's a midfield enforcer though at that age. Question is. Would he get the required game time Spurs may expect him to get? Not had much luck with loans from London clubs in recent years.

Mourinho was tipping him as a future Spurs captain t’other week. Not sure he’ll be loaning him out. He’s been around the first team for a while now.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Dyche is never going to drop Cork or Westwood for a loan player so would be a waste of everyone's time. He may as well stay at Spurs and get to play in the Europa league.

Heard a quote from Jose a few weeks back urging him to stay & saying he was a future captain, so can’t see him agreeing to let him go to us or Southampton where he wouldn’t be guaranteed a start.BenWickes wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 6:39 pmHolding midfielder apparently. Best we call Norwich and offer to give them a free run at it in return for Buendia and Cantwell

I do wonder how the youngsters knocking on the door of the 1st team set up and indeed been on the 1st team bench since restart feel when they see their position being flouted as a transfer target position.

Interesting. Hadn’t realised we were paying in instalments. Assuming there’s say £5m left to pay, they could write that off with a £5m payment back spread over a few years. Would mean we’ve only lost £5m which wouldn’t be a bad outcome under the circumstances.ClaretAL wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 9:59 amNeil Warnock exploring options for Ben Gibson Middlesbrough deal

I think given the fact that only one of them got 3 mins kind of highlights that they aren’t knocking on the door at all. In fact I would go as far as saying none of them are even remotely close to breaking into the first team

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Think they’ll know their place - very few players just walk straight in to the first team in the PL. if we sign someone in their position I imagine they’ll be encouraged to take a loan to develop. If we don’t, they get the benefit of being next in line for that position.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Well no player should feel his position is safe. Regardless of who they are. If, in the unlikely event; we could sign an upgrade on a first team player for a good price, then we should. If the kids are hungry enough, determined enough and talented enough and are prepared to fight for it. They'll get a chance. Competition for places is good for the squad.

Looked at him on YT last time we were linked. He looked good, albeit you don’t get the skied shots, the times he got skinned or the goals conceded by being out of position on YT.ClaretAL wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 8:38 am"Burnley signing this 19-year-old Derby starlet would be a solid investment that could work"

My ideal RB would be Tripps. Would be so happy to see him back and I think he’d fit in this team perfectly. He won’t be coming back for two years while he’s under contract at Madrid though, so we do need a younger option. English too.
Can’t see it this summer with two other RB’s on the books though!

Transfer fees are normally spread over the length of the contract, Gibson signed a 4 year contract and he's half way through it so 7.5m left to pay.NewClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 7:20 pmInteresting. at £1m this guy is a no brainer. Similar profile to Vardy Barnes and Gray and at the rate he is improving could be a bargainEarbyClaret wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 9:34 pmMacauley Bonne link is an interesting one and represents minimal risk at a modest outlay

Sell Vydra to Rangers for £8-10m and we have started a fund. Mike should like this

Sad, but true
These guys will start all games unless injured
A key area of the pitch where we need more physical strength and pace also adding goals (not from corners)

This is one I can see. Younger, fitter Gudmundsson. Would be good business for us. Highest assister in the championship I think. Would be perfect swinging in crosses for Woody and Jay.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
That's just the accounting cost in the accounts, it says nothing about the timing of the payments being due. If a club agrees to buy a player for, say, £10m on a 4 year contract, then the transfer value is amortised in the accounts over 4 years, so, £2.5m per year. That would be the same, whether the full £10m is paid immediately the transfer is agreed, or is paid over an extended period.claretandy wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 7:31 pmTransfer fees are normally spread over the length of the contract, Gibson signed a 4 year contract and he's half way through it so 7.5m left to pay.

This is now the time to reduce the age of the squad and that is why Garlick refused to sanction new deals for Hart / Lennon and I agree with him yet Dyche was throwing his toys out of the pram because of this but following the results after lockdown its 1 nil to the chairman.AfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 1:04 pm??? Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I think he was referring to Hendrick as opposed to Hart and Lennon personally. Jeff was utilised by the gaffer in many positions and always did a job whilst being a tidy footballer, why wouldn’t he have wanted to keep him on? As for the other two, they were always destined to go this summer. As Dyche says often, he is still learning but so is the Chairman and I think he has to learn from the Hendrick saga. We have done unbelievably well regardless of this and I hope they sit down and crack on and deliver more miracles for our fantastic club.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Yes that’s how we amortise the player asset values but as you can see within our creditors and debtors figures most (if not all) of our player sales and purchases are phased payment agreements....though not necessarily linked to the length of contracts.Paul Waine wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 12:52 pmThat's just the accounting cost in the accounts, it says nothing about the timing of the payments being due. Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Wasn't it immediately before the City match that Sean was talking about losing players because of contracts? At that point we didn't even have Bardsley signed up. It's fairly obvious that Jeff would have played every game since the restart if they'd struck a deal. Obviously the press carried the story on for weeks because they love a bit of manager v chairman friction.
