Re: Bournemouth accept offer for Aké
Well if a relegated club can command over £40m for Ake, then surely that must bump up the asking price for Tarks if anybody comes sniffing.
I guess this spells the end at City for John Stones.
I also don't think Ake will be the last to depart Bournemouth in this window.

Seriously though, it's worth re-looking at the player valuations thread to see how some posters have drastically undervalued our assets.
As a side issue, I think Ake is overrated. Bournemouth even picked up in form when he was injured.

Seriously though. Tarks must be worth £60m atm. His agent will be on to this immediately.
And Gibson £16m.

Totally agree. If Ake is worth £41m from a relegated club, Tarks is worth £60m+ from a club that finished in top half.Ric_C wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 11:57 amDyche: "The market has shifted yet again, of course. You only have to look at the Nathan Ake signing as a marker to see that"

Worth a cheeky bid for Stones?
We need another CB and he'd probably do well with the protection we offer our defence.

Tarks is now a £60m defender
Eddie knows how to get maximum value ,but he also knows how to buy duds like Solanke and King
I don't see Bournemouth as promotion candidates next season in any case

Was talking to a Liverpool fan a good few years ago and was asking him about how he felt about losing Sterling. He raved on that Ibe was a far better player. You have to wonder if he was watching the same player as everyone else.
Re: Bournemouth accept Man City offer for Aké
Doesn’t surprise me. Harry Maguire cost twice as much, and isn’t twice the player! I also think Ake is overrated

If City thought Tarks was a better defender they would have come calling. They are even nearer to Oldham. If they think Ake is worth 40 million and is their best option then surely that makes Tarks worth less. Long may he remain whatever others think.

Maybe Ake even had a release clause in his contract?
Who knows?

Re: Bournemouth accept Man City offer for Aké
Its a close call but I think most managers would prefer Ake over Tarks. Whether its a case that Ake has going cheap because Bournemouth have gone down or whether people on here are over valuing Tarks cos he's our player Im not sure.
I do however think Ake is worth more than Tarks (not to us obviously) and so if people think Bournemouth have got a good deal then I wouldn't expect Tarks to fetch much over £30m

Eddies took Bournemouth down because his strikers Solanke Wilson and King havent scored goals enough

I think that Ake is probably a better fit than Tarks for City. Maybe, or maybe not. I think Tarks would be a better fit for United than Ake.

Sheffield United said they sold Brooks because Bournemouth offered far more than their valuation of him. I don’t know what they valued him at but he looked good to me at Sheff U.

They’ve gone down because they weren’t good enough. They only scored three goals less than us. If you want to see where the problems are at Bournemouth then look at the other end of the pitch.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 1:24 pmEddies took Bournemouth down because his strikers Solanke Wilson and King havent scored goals enough

When Chelsea sold Ake to Bournemouth a buy back clause of £40 million formed part of the contract.
Presumably that accounts for the top up of £1 million offered by Manchester City?

Re: Bournemouth accept Man City offer for Aké
City’s owners must be cursing Pep for spunking £41m on a Dutch international defender.
What the hell the fact he played for a relegated club has to do with anything I’ll never know.
I actually think Tarks is at a very similar standard and whilst I don’t want him to leave this is about what we should expect. Forget what ManU paid for Maguire they are idiots.

Apparently still in place that Chelsea can re-sign him for £40m but as yet they haven’t suggested they would want to. According to SSN, City have offered £40m plus £1m in add ons but the figure offered not connected to that buy back clause.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 1:36 pmWhen Chelsea sold Ake to Bournemouth a buy back clause of £40 million formed part of the contract.

I am not sure what city see in Ake. Although he seems to have reasonable technical ability I thought he was bullied every time he played against Wood and Barnes. Not really an improvement on Stones for me.

Stones reminds me of my dog. Can be good but easily distracted. I can imagine Stones driving to training and spotting a balloon fly past and he'd chase after it.Cirrus_Minor wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 2:19 pmI am not sure what city see in Ake. Re: Bournemouth accept Man City offer for Aké
I think fans undervalue our players because offers we receive or any offers mooted in the press reflect are on the low side. Just this week we have had pope being linked with Chelsea, was there a fee mentioned? Without looking I don't know but I'd guess any fee quoted would be on the low side.
I personally think it's a by product of the little ol Burnley image which I've stated many times needs to change. If someone wants pope? Fine then pay 70m. As mentioned above if city are willing to pay 41m for a relegated centre back then tarks must be in the 60m bracket at least. For what it's worth I think the fees in general are absolutely mind boggling.
