Re: New Kits 20/21
The new Arsenal home is very, very nice. Ajax new home is pretty nice too.
Re: New Kits 20/21
Like the new Man U red home and black away kits.Man City's paisley away is quite erm different.
Re: New Kits 20/21
Brings a whole new meaning to the word different. A bit too different for my taste. Still not as bad as the lowered shoulder kit which is different for all the wrong reasons.
Guess we'll just have to wait and see what Umbro come up with for us.

What has been our best away kit?

The away kit in 2009/10 was excellent.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 9:48 amI loved the royal blue with claret trim in the 1970s - and then there was the superb away kit in 2009/10 with the white shirts and black shorts.

I like the 2009 and the 2010 white strip.

I’m a traditionalist even down to hooped socks but Ballymena are playing in this tonight in the Irish Cup Final and it’s smart. I do prefer blue names and numbers as well.
Re: New Kits 20/21
There are regulations as regards the colours of numbers on shirts, I think thats why we have white.

For all those wanting an Adidas kit here’s a reminder of what happened last time they did it.

Pretty sure we only had that for one season. It was the infamous Waddle, last game Plymouth season.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 10:10 pmWasn’t that quartered Effie the last home shirt we had for more than one season?

Re: New Kits 20/21
Yes, from 1996-98 - the 1998/99 season kit wasn’t as bad, it was much better quality but the claret was a shade darker with the Adidas stripes across the chest with claret shorts and blue socks.
Re: New Kits 20/21
I have that quartered shirt at my home
If my memory serves me well some of our supporters refused to buy it because of the quarters design

Put it over the mantelpiece Mel, keep the kids away from the fire...
Re: New Kits 20/21
My memory must be playing tricks, I thought we only had quarters for one season.
Re: New Kits 20/21
We could do a lot worse than looking at Roma’s back catalogue of kits. Predominantly claret may need to change some amber to blue but they are always smart. Maybe because they are Italian... or is that just a racial stereotype?

Re: New Kits 20/21
It was definitely two, 1996/97 with Heath and in 1997/98 with Waddle - The last of the Endsleigh era
The away kits were nicer though
The away kit under Heath was white with three sky blue stripes that faded towards the chest with black shorts and socks.
The away kit under Waddle was yellow with claret sleeves Adidas stripes running vertically off the shoulder with claret shorts and hooped socks (quite nice I thought)

Re: New Kits 20/21
I had a Teasdale story to tell on this but then I realised it wasn't the quartered shirt, but the halves (jade and black) in 1993. He was told in a fans meeting that Burnley should never wear halved shirts. He looked up and shouted: "Go and support Blackburn then."
That quartered kit was probably the worst quality shirt we ever had. It plucked getting it out of the bag.
Re: New Kits 20/21
A few of us often have this discussion about our kits in the past.
Without a doubt we missed a massive opportunity when we had adidas - the strips were some of the worst we have ever had when they could have been the best if we would have gone down the simple classic adidas style or followed the lead of others like United or Newcastle etc.
For me the style that would still look and sell the best whether it’s with adidas, puma or Umbro would be the classic plain crew neck (where in my head I always picture Frank Casper wearing it !)
White shorts and full clarets socks.
Only problem then would be the sponsor which I hate recent ones but there’s around 7 million reasons why we have to live with this

Haven't been through all the thread, so don't know if this has been mentioned, but will the white top we wore at West Ham be on sale? I liked that one.
I'd certainly buy that. Suspect it might be quite popular.

I doubt it but you can buy it for a tenner here if you can pick up an iron on crest from somewhere.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 1:22 pmHaven't been through all the thread, so don't know if this has been mentioned, but will the white top we wore at West Ham be on sale? I liked that one.

Auctioned with proceeds going to the foodbank charity. Still some fans with deep pockets.

As worthwhile the cause is, bids starting at £100 does restrict those that would bid.Eli&Conroy wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2020 5:20 pmAuctioned with proceeds going to the foodbank charity. Still some fans with deep pockets.
I’m sure they would make just as much if not more by doing it as a raffle, at say £5/£10 a ticket, where more people can enter

Scunthorpe's 20/21 shirt. Reminds me of our 89/91 one a wee bit.

Re: New Kits 20/21
Perhaps in my old age I don't share as much excitement over strips as some but wouldn't it be better to have a yellow change strip then only two strips would be needed. Looking at next seasons Premier league either claret and blue or yellow would do the trick against all teams. In fact I can only think that some of Bradford City's claret and gold creations would clash with both if they were drawn in the cup.

I think knowing that it’s only going to be worn for 12 months, I‘m not bothered anymore. Besides, it’s normally spoiled by an oversized logo splashed on the front anyway.

Re: New Kits 20/21
I was surprised when Brighton turned up in that all blue kit which is next season's home kit. I don't think I can recall them not wearing stripes previously.
