I like to go out with my friends, shoot some hoops, have a few drinks.
I also work at a college as a janitor even though I feel like I'm smarter than most of the people who go there. Sometimes I see an equation written on a blackboard like half an equation and... I just figure it out.

The other aspect of photography is editing, never accept the photograph that comes out of the camera, you have to work to develop it to full potential.
How true. I’m a terrible photographer but make poor shots acceptable with editing.

Collecting vinyl. It takes up all my time, especially now I'm retired. Discogs is my best friend!!!
Are you in Cork, Corky? I have loads I would be willing to let go to a good home.
Depends what genre you are into?

Fantastic hobby mate, you simply cant beat opening a new vinyl album,I love the black shiny things, and now you can get them in all sorts of different colours,it was a sad day when the CD took over.
It's just an expensive hobby,I've got vinyl from the 70s with the Ames record bar price sticker on £2.49 ;)

Sadly I'm not in Cork or anywhere near it. You should get the tunes valued as you would be surprised what these little shiny black things go for these days.

As you can probably guess, my main hobby is diving, used to be my profession but now just a pastime. This is going to be my first winter season diving here in the UK this year hence why myself and my missus have just invested in drysuits.....mid-October we are inteding to dive with the seals off the Farne Islands....just had a few days away in Cumbria diving at a place called Capernwray.

Other than that, walking, biking, drinking....also coming to out of season I will be starting to post more on my environmental Fbee page....been a bit lacking in posts recently due to life....
I trust they were Apeks/Aqualung drysuits CD

I have both mirrorless and DSLR, I love them all; I have three Nikon DSLR's and got myself a Z6 which will take my F mount lenses, I am seriously impressed with the fact that you get what you see in the viewfinder. There is however a slight lag on the shutter and if I'm doing footy or birds in flight, I have to remember to predict the moment, the DSLR doesn't have this lag or if it does I have got used to it.

Stick with mirrorless, it will only get better into the future, loads of resource on YouTube (a lot of shite too mind), but worth watching someone like Jason Lanier
Hi Alp, so got all set up and tried a few shots in the garden and the kit lens has little to no zoom although the clarity and colours I am really happy with. I would like to try and do a bit of wildlife and scenery, so which lens would you advise I start saving for?

Get yourself a lathe and a milling machine and build a small steam loco. or traction engine. You'll learn a lot and finish with something of real value.

I wouldn't buy any other lens as yet, learn to use what you already have first; too many people rush out and buy additional lenses too soon. Learn about composition and light, these are two critical parts of your shots, and a zoom isn't necessary, you can move closer or further away most of the time. The lovely dog shot is a fine example, you went in closer and got his head, and moved back to get him all. There are a number of problems with these which make them snaps rather than photos though, too many distractions, harsh light frame not squared off. Don't rush, take your time and let yourself develop before spending more cash. All the very best. Andy

ALP you are spot on mate. However i did by a lens with a little more zoom, but just watching lots of Youtube lessons at the moment, and go to admit I am hooked, and you make it look easy. Cheers for the advise.

I never tire of looking at ALP's photo's and the sunset taken on 9th August is stunning.

I enjoy photography and have got a couple of decent lenses but have found myself idle thus far this year. I have a large Lavender bush out front which is the target for numerous Bee's from Dawn to Dusk. I had a go at Macro photography last year but it is very hard with anything more than a puff of wind!

Following my recent Cardiac Angioplasty I have had to limit myself to slow walking and really should take my camera out.

Big fan of photography too. More along the line of street/documentary style. Cartier Bresson, Eggleston, Meyerowitz etc. Also love the polaroid work of Wim Wenders, Robber Muller etc. Not done much this year at all, due to covid and the lack of enthusiasm for it.

Go for it........!! I followed you on Flickr; do you want honest constructive critique on your images on there? I'm willing to give 'my feedback' or willing to keep my gob shut. Bearing in mind that photography is very subjective and this is a matter of choice and taste to the individual, but there are significant differences between a 'snap and a photograph'.

Let me know and I'll go with the flow.

All the best with the lens.

Me and my wife love theme parks. Essentially enjoy to travel with our daughter and tick off as many new parks as we can at home and abroad, and log what coasters we’ve ridden on a website that tracks that. Bit weird but it’s a really fun shared activity for us and has made us go off the beaten path quite often.

I'm in the midst of a mid life crisis. Whilst already having a few hobbies:

Cricket
Drinking
Smoking
Photography
Weekends away

My latest is rollercoasters. Went on 'Icon' at Blackpool Pleasure Beach last year. I'm now hooked.

Next month, me and the missus are off to Poland again to take in a couple of theme parks (Legendia & Energylandia) and the world class rides they have. Poland is just about the perfect short break. Stay in Kracow which is a stunning city or Katowice which is cheaper. We are staying in Katowice this time. Prices were about:

Return flights from Manchester = £80.00 for two.
Transfer to city on shuttle bus from airport = £12.00 for two.
3 nights at the Qbus Hotel Plus in Katowice = £140.
Travel to theme parks = £15.00 for two.
Admission to both theme parks = £100.00 for two.
Admission to Zoo in Chorzow = £10.00 for two.
Chairlift around the park = £4.00 for two.

Food and drink is seriously cheap. If you are on a tight budget then you should use one of the local Vodka bars where you will get a pint or a large vodka for less than a pound. Snacks like toasties are less than two pounds. They are open 23 hours a day. The other hour is usually between 05:00am and 06:00am where they take the opportunity to hose the place down.

All in all you shouldn't miss out a visit to Poland. If you are not planning any theme parks I would also suggest Gdansk which is much further North (on the Baltic Sea) but has a nice old town. We had a recent two day trip which turned into three when we missed our return flight home (Vodka & Cocktails).

Flying from Leeds / Bradford is good.

Hello Corky...that's my hobby too.I specialise in collecting EPs...I have about 6000 .Started collecting EPs in the late 50s...used to buy one every two weeks from a bloke who had a stall on Burnley open market on Monday afternoons ..before I went for a black pudding.....I bought all the early Everly Brother eps from him and I used to get loads from a bloke who ran a second hand shop somewhere up near the Mitre..can't remember his name but my dad wasn't too pleased that I went in there because the guy was a well known fence .I used to buy eps because I couldn't afford albums then .I had a paper round that paid for one ep a fortnight ;admission to Turf Moor every week...Reserves and First Team...and pictures on a Saturday night .Nowadays , like you , I get a lot of stuff through Discogs and the like and the Auction sites .Why eps ? They were affordable to me and I loved the picture sleeves .Rare finds...too many to mention...but later in life on business in London I used to visit Mole Jazz..opposite Kings Cross Station...if it wasn't jazz they gave it away ( almost ) ...there it was " Knockout "...tommy Bruce...50p ! Happy days...or should I say years ? Sad bugger !
