Spain National Team
Saw this morning that Adama Traore has been called up for the Spain squad for next month's fixtures, checked the full team and from World Cup winners in 2010 to a very average squad a decade later:
Spain squad in full: David de Gea (Manchester United), Kepa Arrizabalaga (Chelsea), Unai Simon (Athletic Bilbao); Jesus Navas (Sevilla), Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Pau Torres (Villarreal), Diego Llorente (Real Sociedad), Jose Gaya (Valencia), Sergio Reguilon (Sevilla), Eric Garcia (Manchester City); Fabian Ruiz (Napoli), Thiago Alcantara (Bayern Munich), Sergio Busquets (Barcelona), Rodri (Manchester City), Mikel Merino (Real Sociedad), Dani Olmo (RB Leipzig), Oscar Rodriguez (Leganes); Rodrigo Moreno (Valencia), Mikel Oyarzabal (Real Sociedad), Adama Traore (Wolves), Marco Asensio (Real Madrid), Ansu Fati (Barcelona), Ferran Torres (Manchester City).

Re: Spain National Team
Well the problem for Spain is all their superstars retired at around the same time, but during their golden generation they won 2 European Championships, and 1 World Cup in the space of 3 consecutive tournaments, it's not exactly a bad record is it, blimey if England had a record anywhere close to that they'd all be getting knighted.

Re: Spain National Team
I was surprised yesterday when I read that Wolves were willing to him go, beyond surprised given the season he’s just had. Then I read that they wanted £70m for him.

Re: Spain National Team
He was rubbish when he first came to England and he had a ridiculous contract at Villa.
When they were relegated he actually got a pay rise
It took him a while to settle in, first season at Boro he didn't score once.
Now he looks a far better player than he did 4 yrs ago, but I suspect that's a lot to do with Wolves.

But he wasn’t.
Re: Spain National Team
Thought the same about Trevor Sinclair in (mainly) Burnley v Blackpool reserve games. Then he just clicked.

Sure, whatever you want to think to try and reinforce your claim that you're right and we are all wrong.

Don’t you mean Barcelona. Middlesbrough. Aston Villa. Wolves. And Spain were all right?GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2020 10:14 pmSure, whatever you want to think to try and reinforce your claim that you're right and we are all wrong.

Re: Spain National Team
Barca flogged him to Villa after 2 seasons in their B team and a single appearance for the main team...cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2020 10:28 pmDon’t you mean Barcelona. Middlesbrough. Aston Villa. Wolves. And Spain were all right?
He wasn't that good at Villa, they sold him to Boro where he spent 2 seasons, one of which he didn't set the world alight.
He's come good at Wolves and has put in some cracking performances.
My original point was he was garbage when he first came to England and its taken a couple of moves since then to grow and improve into the player he is now and for Spain to look to give him a try.
I'm not dismissing his quality now.

Re: Spain National Team
Not attacking Traore himself, after a difficult spell he has come good and looks a player, I am just commenting on the Spanish squad in general. Just goes to show that when the Germany, France, Italy, Spain etc win something, the FA need to follow their coaching models for youth players etc but shows that you can do all the coaching you want but if the players aren't there then there is nothing you can do.
Re: Spain National Team
He looks to have spent some time in the gym since he joined Wolves, defenders seem to be out-muscled by him nowGodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 20, 2020 10:05 pmHe was rubbish when he first came to England and he had a ridiculous contract at Villa.
