Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Slight link but Shane Duffy, experienced Premier league player available for 5m or a loan, surely fits the budget and age profile of a Dyche type player. Personality wise there are issues but I think there is value, especially as a back up.

Worrall isn't worth going too high for - Gibson is also a better defender too. Forest should be snapping our hand off! Move on....
Can see Gibson ending up at Leeds. The nearest club to his home who can actually afford him (and are looking for a centre half).

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Gibson sounds like a massive man child.
He’s putting his desire to return to that absolute shithole of a town over his career. I could ALMOST understand it if Boro were a club with any prospects, but they’re going nowhere.
The worst signing in the clubs history keeps on giving.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Gibson was a good signing, sadly it didn't work out.
He could have done himself and the club a favour by keeping his teddy in the pram, but he's frustrated because he wants to play football.
He needs to go for both our sakes, but to describe him as the worst signing in the clubs history, is just fans throwing their teddies out of the pram.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Gibson seems to be very flexible considering his situation. Not surprised Dyche dosn’t want him around the squad. The sooner he is off the books the better. File under Bamford,Toys and Pram.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Obviously not the worst player we have ever signed by any means. But hard to disagree that he’s the worst signing given he’s played a couple of games and with wages, signing on / agents fees etc will have cost the club the best part of £25m to £30m if he does see out his contract.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 9:12 amGibson was a good signing, sadly it didn't work out.

That’s not to say I think it’s anyone at the clubs fault - like many (or most) fans at the time I thought he was a very good signing at a very good price bearing in mind he had made an England squad and consistently been a stand out player for a club not too different from Burnley at the time in terms of how we had done in the Championship and Premier League.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
He could be putting his desire to play football at a club he feels most comfortable ahead of other things after two miserable years at a crucial point in his career. Thought he was an excellent signing at the time.jedi_master wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 9:06 amGibson sounds like a massive man child.

The point is when we signed him, EVERYONE thought we had struck gold. He was perfect cover in the eventuality that we lost Tarks.
I would class a bad signing as someone who everyone questions 'why the hell have we bought him?'. Gibson hasn't worked out, but that wasn't his fault, the only complaint we can have is to his reaction to not getting the breakthrough.

But best and worst signing debates are often done looking back on something - or how would you know ?

Nixon this morning:
Forest want £10 million for Worrall, that's put us off.
Gibson, most likely a loan back to Middlesbrough.

Definitely not. Main point though was it would be a good idea for him to choose his next club - wherever that might be - based on where he feels comfortable and where he will play lots.jedi_master wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 9:55 amI too thought he was an excellent signing, he clearly hasn’t been though (of his own making).

We dont want to be paying for the privilege of loaning out Gibson
Better write off the remaining monies and exchange for a Boro player

Not sure Nixon is reliable but pleased about the Worrall element. Not watched him but when their own fans don’t seem impressed, it’s always a worry to me.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 10:07 amNixon this morning:

Presumably Boro will cancel remaining payments for a loan otherwise cannot see what’s in it for us.

And Paul Stewart?....wow thats some statement!
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Ahead of sitting on his arse collecting massive wages ? If he’s desperate to play he will take a lower wage elsewhere or agree to go to a club whereby the club can recoup some of its massive cash outlay. Looks like he wants everything. He wants big wages to play for his uncles club who can’t afford it but won’t go elsewhere. His stock value is lower than when we bought him. His playing career has been affected but the big loser here is BFC. Number 1 priority this window needs to be to get rid of him.

I can testify to that and if he struggled in Scotland he'll definitely struggle in the EPL. Avoid Worrall at our peril, and he's nowhere near worth £10m.

Is there no one, anywhere in the vast football world, better than Worrall for less than £10million ? Is that the best value our scouting network can find ??

I don’t know why anyone is surprised by the players we seem to target. Our scouting is purely from the lower domestic leagues which is vastly over priced.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 11:33 amIs there no one, anywhere in the vast football world, better than Worrall for less than £10million ? I can understand going for a young prospect but worrall? It’s as bad as being interested in Sam Clucas.

And our scouting has unearthed JBG, Pope, Taylor & Tarkowski all from the lower leagues and who are considerably worth far more than we paid for them.Right_winger wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 11:53 amI don’t know why anyone is surprised by the players we seem to target. Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I do think Nixon is dismissive of Burnley. Think he’s always been grumpy with us since the Coyle episode.
If Worrall, at 23, with a couple of full championship seasons and England youth pedigree, isn’t worth as much as £10m, then you’d wonder whether he’d be good enough to be a future regular in the Prem, especially with all the clamour for ‘homegrown’ UK centre halves.

Someone needs to slap Gibson so he can have an epiphany, go knock on Woans front door on a Sunday afternoon and apologise.
Sorted.
Mind you, he better wear full suit of armor if he does take up my idea.
I guess the truth of all this will come out when one of our players appears on some podcast in the future ;p

Smith has less than 12 month's left on his contract so I wouldn't expect Burnley to go above 6 million for a 29 year old, plus apart from 11 games on loan at Derby and Leeds he's played all his career down south and he's a London boy so I can't see him coming up north.

As a Christchurch claret here on south coast Im not sure Smiths been a great player for Cherries but I'm not sure hes a Dyche defender Great going forward ,(likes a dive!) defends ok , personally think hes an excellent player but ..... not sure if Sean would take him
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Adam Smith would be a great signing right now. We’d get him cheap as he’s in his last year of his contract.
He can go straight into the first team in a position that has become an issue for us.
Tough tackler but good going forward.
Proven in this league.
Played for England at every level but full international.
What’s not to like ?
For me it’s one of those you would try and get done as quickly as possible as you would think that there could be a number of teams in our league would also be interested. Palace, West Ham, Villa and a few others not great in this position.

All the press reports seem to be around central defensive midfielders, centre halves and the odd right back. Don’t dispute that more depth in midfield would be nice, or that a Gibson replacement is needed, but surely we don’t need 3 RB’s next season? And I’d argue none are as important as a RW?
