Yorkshire v Lancashire (Headingley)
Unfortunately there's plenty of rain around, and they've managed only 13 balls before going off, no more play before lunch, and no guarantee of any post lunch either, not ideal for either side, both really need to try and force a result in this match to stay in the hunt for a Lords visit.
For what it's worth Yorkshire won toss and are batting. 8-0 in the brief spell of play.

Lancashire were contributing massively to England getting close to 600, and England's greatest ever bowler is waiting to have a bowl.
Meanwhile, the spirit of Boycott is in Joe 30 (The lesser scoring cousin of Joe 90) as they bat on with 582 runs on the board.

It’s time for dome cricket.
The Burnley Dome. Home to the Clarets, Burnley CC and Burnley Bees RL team. All on a plastic pitch.
Sorry lads I’ll get back in me box.

Re: Yorkshire v Lancashire (Headingley)
Even if we do, we'll be happy in the knowledge that our players are assisting the England test team to a first series victory over Pakistan for 10 years. Jos from Bacup has outscored Joe 30, and England's greatest ever bowler continues to take wickets.
Meanwhile you've got all your one day sloggers back, to go with the cockney and southern mercenaries to focus on the 4 day game, celebrating hammering bankrupt 2nd division sides, and those producing genuine test players, rather than producing any England quality players yourselves, just a load of hype merchants.
What's this nonsense about Rashid being a test player? Christ on a bike, gets a few blokes out slogging caught on the boundary, and he thinks he's good enough to play proper cricket. Best to stick with the rest of the flat track bully hype merchants in Leeds and Scarborough.
Bring on day 3 of the test, and I know you'll be hoping that England's Greatest ever bowler, a Bona Fide Lancastrian like yourself, gets to that magical 600 mark quickly.

Re: Yorkshire v Lancashire (Headingley)
A couple of you Lancashire lads being a little over critical here.
There is not too much wrong with the covers that a bit of sticky back plastic won't mend. The biggest problem was the speed getting them on the pitch. It took me back to the Lancashire League in the 1980's and playing at Rishton when their groundsman would refuse to give us the key to cover shed insisting that the shower would pass over before the covers were needed. Seeing Headingley from afar yesterday seemed to paint a similar amateur picture. It kinds of sums up the whole club.
But the above post casting doubt upon the ability of the White Rose playing staff is surely wide of the mark. Rashid has become such an icon in both red and white ball cricket that he can now dictate which form of the game he will honour his country with. What his mentors have forgotten to tell him is that there are two far better bowlers who cannot both get in the same County team and are more trustworthy to take on a winter tour. Bye bye Adil.
As for the flat track bully hype merchants. Has he not been farmed out to save money?
I shall keep my eye on Headingley but a keener one on Jimmy aiming to reach yet another milestone.
I was reading last night of grumbles of discontent from within the inner sanctum of Lords as to the inadequacies of the England Captain's current batting form going into winter tour. Surely not?

Re: Yorkshire v Lancashire (Headingley)
Just back from a couple of days break from the mother county, the birthplace of Adam Lyth no less, the delightful Whitby, he even got a mention on the tour bus round the town.
I'm sure it must be similar on the Bolton equivalent "And on the left is the birthplace of the 90mph beemer, the one and only Sajid Mahmood". No doubt there's going to be a blue plaque erected in the next few years.
Can i say i'm fully behind Jimmy on his quest for 600 wickets, i'm sure he will be the first to mention the massive impact the Yorkie Chappie has had on his career.
Anyway let's all enjoy Yorkshire racking up some runs today and see how it pans out.

Did they mention Adam Lyth is famous for looking like Voldemort? He’s not famous for anything else other than being another off the hype conveyor belt miles away from England standard.
I was thinking this morning, if you did a best England xi of the last 25 years, would there be any Yorkshiremen in it?
CooK
Strauss
Trott
Bell
Pietersen
Prior
Stokes
Flintoff
Swann

And Lyth, Bresnan, Sidebottom, Bairstow and Rashid.
Yorkshire haven’t produced a player of note for 30 years have they?
Meanwhile Lancs have produced 2.

It’s Andrew Flintoff..... you know..... a genuine match winner.
Chilton is the equivalent of Ballance. Both of them are good county players, one is sprinkled with hype, the other is Mark Chilton.

Freddie will be remembered most for getting lashed and commandeering a pedalo.

Finally a breakthrough for the Red Rose, Kohler-Cadmore's luck runs out after his earlier life. Bailey's bowling well this morning, but he needs support from his colleagues.

Re: Yorkshire v Lancashire (Headingley)
Another 50 for Hameed I notice, maybe a change of scene was what he needed, but he's slowly recapturing his early career form again, his chances of breaking into the England squad are slim right now, but who knows in the next year or two, there's an incredible amount of international cricket to be played, and you'd guess they'll be rotation in England selections, otherwise there's a risk of burning the players out.

Play due to restart at 4.45, so the rain won't save the Yorkies with the weather forecast it's hard too see how either side can force a result in this game, and both really need a win to stay in the hunt for a final place.

Lancs were going well in reply to Yorkshire's 260, 104-0 quickly becomes 112-3 Davies making 73 in the century opening stand with Jennings, but then a few quick wickets.
In the other games 100's for Cook and Foakes. But there's lot's of rain about sadly.

150 up for Lancs, 160-3 Vilas calming things down after that mayhem. Still hard too see how we get a positive result here given the dreadful forecast for tomorrow.

Good partnership by Jones & Vilas, but then 2 quickfire wickets 182-5 Lancs, still 78 behind.
One curio I noticed both Jennings and Lyth have wickets to their name, can't be many matches where 2 opening batsman take wickets.

195-5 at the close, there's serious doubt whether they'll be much if any play tomorrow, so all in all it's been somewhat of a damp squib.

Wow..... looks like Lancashire have somehow managed to be in roughly there same ball park as Yorkshire. How is this possible with all their world stars and upcoming incredible talent. Surely the news wires have the scores wrong?

Just having a look at the scorecard.... That young Yorkshire kid Duanne Olivier's getting some tap isn't he?
Oh.... hang on.... 28 year old Kolpak going for 5 an over. Cricinfo says "A quick from Bloemfontein who learnt his trade on the same surfaces that once produced Allan Donald, Duanne Olivier is proof that flat pitches make better bowlers. He is hailed as much for his wicket-taking ability as he for mid-innings control, and has also been known to get some reverse-swing."
