Callum Wilson to Newcastle for £20 million.
That's cheap considering his contract runs until 2023.
Villa were also interested but have pulled out of the race to sign him as Newcastle are his preferred choice.

Massive wages (100k+) means that Bournemouth need him off the wage bill, suggestions are that he's going to have to take a pay cut at Newcastle as well.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 9:15 amThat's cheap considering his contract runs until 2023.

Ouch that's a lot of wage to be paying someone who's no better than Chris Wood in regards to goals/game ratio.claretandy wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 9:24 amMassive wages (100k+) means that Bournemouth need him off the wage bill, suggestions are that he's going to have to take a pay cut at Newcastle as well.

I’d rather have Wood!

Agreed a fee for Lewis at Norwich too.

I don't think Newcastle pay too much attention to goals/game ratio.
And Joelinton is quite relieved about that.

Massively underperformed last season, and was one of the main reasons why they got relegated. Wood is far more consistent, yet some of our fans value him at less than 20 million. Go figure!

No relegation clause to drop his wages apparently or any other Bournemouth player for that matter.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 9:15 amThat's cheap considering his contract runs until 2023.

I think it's you that thinks all clubs have them as a priority isn't it?
Re: Callum Wilson to Newcastle for £20 million.
Seems overpriced to me, he's only had one good season in the PL.
Re: Callum Wilson to Newcastle for £20 million.
More like he massively overperformed the season before.

I'm one of those who thinks it should be mandatory that clubs should have them yes.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 12:09 pmNo relegation clause to drop his wages apparently or any other Bournemouth player for that matter.

The fact clubs don't is down to poor ownership/management and I'd apply that to Burnley if it became the case.
Didn't we have a cherry fan on here recently telling us it was only Ake with no clause and that's why he was sold?

It would be a handy thing to have for a club but what agent would advise his client to sign such a deal?GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 12:35 pmI'm one of those who thinks it should be mandatory that clubs should have them yes.

Clubs would struggle to sign the better players.

If they were mandatory at all clubs then it wouldn't get in the way of signing players.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 12:40 pmIt would be a handy thing to have for a club but what agent would advise his client to sign such a deal?
Clubs would struggle to sign the better players.
It then goes back to the usual money demands or other preferences.

Poor old Jason hardly the best start when the owner sanctioned sales of three of his best players
Personally, I never got the Wilson hype, overrated
A goal scorer who doesn't score will fit right in at Newcastle.

They're also going to sign Ryan Fraser on a free, that should be a good signing for them.

One thing for sure is Bournemouth wont be bouncing back first time,if ever again.

He's half the price of JoeLinton and will inevitably score at least 3 times the number of goals that joelinton scored last year. Still a lot less than wood.
Having said that, I'd still pick joelinton ahead of gayle.

Yes- it surprises me that Bournemouth are currently still amongst the top 5 favourites for promotion.
They've already said goodbye to Ake, Ramsdale and Fraser (+ Francis and Surman). Now it looks like Liverpool will be selling Harry Wilson elsewhere rather than loaning him to Bournemouth again. Callum Wilson is shortly off to Newcastle and there is a lot of outside interest in Brooks.
Added to them losing Eddie, I find it difficult to see them as big contenders for going up. Unless they get into recruiting pretty smartish- more likely to be in the bottom half.

From the way people talk on here about clubs spending money I'll be shocked if they arent in the same boat as Bury this time next year
Re: Callum Wilson to Newcastle for £20 million.
Seems high but the market keeps going up. What is Wood worth now ? Find it hard to believe that Bournemouth are/were paying 100k week even with their benefactor.

Debt of £100 million end of the 18/19 season, will be higher for the 19/20 season and if its true they don't have relegation clauses in their players contracts then next season could be interesting when you factor in drops in revenue etc.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 10:05 pmFrom the way people talk on here about clubs spending money I'll be shocked if they arent in the same boat as Bury this time next year
Yes they've made circa £70 million from player sales but those players will need to be replaced and they're known to pay well so new signings may want parity.
If their owner suddenly stopped bankrolling them they'd certainly do a Bury but this could be the start of them doing a Bolton and dropping into league 2 in a complete mess.

Joelinton will definitely be ahead of Gayle because Gayle is out for at least three months with a knee problem.

Just shows what pushing the boat out does to you if it doesn't work out well....GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 10:19 pmDebt of £100 million end of the 18/19 season, will be higher for the 19/20 season and if its true they don't have relegation clauses in their players contracts then next season could be interesting when you factor in drops in revenue etc.

Some strange signings there over the years though, throwing money at youngsters from big clubs in the hope of them coming good. Calculated gambles are fine but not £15m+ gambles on players like Solanke and Ibe and no doubt massive wages to boot.

So Newcastle are signing Callum Wilson, Ryan Fraser and Jamal Lewis. What do you think the weekly wage bill for those 3 will be, £200,000?
