Wealthy investors in football have left their mark

Post by kenyon6923 » Tue Sep 08, 2020 5:04 pm

Some good stories but a long long mess of horror stories. Obvious peaks are Chelsea and Man City where investors have made a huge difference AND are staying put.
Other stories so far would be Leicester and Wolves who seem to be progressing nicely and being backed for now.
Horror stories are a mile long even locally Blackpool (Oystens), Rovers, Bolton, now Wigan have all ended poorly.
UK wide Coventry and Charlton are a mess off the field of which one still has not got a home ground.
Got to admire Gibson at Middlesboro who has stuck in there, highs and plenty of lows but never established them in prem as yet.
Ashley at Newcastle love him or hate him there's not many rich wealthy people who are honest enough to say "this game is too expensive for me" I need to sell to somebody on another level up of wealth !!!!!!!!!
Portsmouth was short lived, Sunderland and Short was a disaster, and Stoke although owned by BILLIONAIRES are struggling at present.
Sure others can add to list.............

Black Comedy for them.

Side splittingly hilarious for us though.

Think from premiership winners to this :

Blackburn’s owners Venky’s are said to be owed £108m in loans, having put another £14m into the club loss makers.

is not too good ? or is this a success story ?

Middlesbrough were established in the Premier League under Gibson - they were there from 1998 to 2009, an 11 year run.

That’s ridiculous. He’s blown 500 million and what have they achieved?

It's going upwards again after Covid and Venky’s have converted a fair old chunk into shares over the years.

This next season with a drop in match day revenue is going to be interesting.

The current " Capital a/c " or value of shares issued of Venkys London Ltd, stands at £184,067,219 as I write, and I don't think that includes the purchase price ... :o

Isn't everyone therefore pleased that Burnley have a very careful board?

They should be.
