Re: Tark - transfer
True Skybet has McNeil at 1/4 to go to Leicester
Also 5/4 Tarks to Wet Spam
But they have Pope at 5/2 to go to Chelsea
All just guesswork, I wont be investing in a treble

Re: Tark - transfer
Why do people try look at other deals and compare? A players worth isn’t based upon what a different team pays for a different player.jedi_master wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 3:13 pmIf McNeil goes to Leicester it needs to be £40-50m - Wolves just bought a kid from Portugal who has played 12 games scoring 1 goal for £35m.
Imagine the absolute ridiculousness of us selling Tarkowski and McNeil, combined, for less than £70m. In fact, don't. Surely not?

I have also been told, that United have now entered the room!
That’s a good old one to throw in....again players out and one on loan

Re: Tark - transfer
What a perfect way to justify us not signing anybody. Start all sorts of rumours about clubs after our crown jewels and then when we have fought off all of the vultures say we had no time to get anyone in.

Re: Tark - transfer
So is a young lad with very very little experience is worth more or less than another young lad who has a good deal more?
Oh and its being reported that the deal is very iffy, as in Jorge Mendes has got millions from the selling club despite not being an agent of the player..
Re: Tark - transfer
The one with the higher potential will be worth more, I know nothing about this kid Wolves have bought but maybe he’s on track to become a genuine world class talent, as good as McNeil is, I don’t see him ever reaching that level.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 4:32 pmSo is a young lad with very very little experience is worth more or less than another young lad who has a good deal more?

Re: Tark - transfer
Also the desperation to buy/sell of both teams drives the price up/down. Direct competition can drive the price up.
There’s so many factors, look at Watkins deal, Villa are so desperate they have overpaid.
Another factor is the value that player has to their current team, Sigurdsson is never a £50m+ player but Everton paid that because he was worth that to Swansea (turns out he was worth considerably more than that to Swansea)

The Silva deal is a strange one - it has been announced on the Portuguese stock exchange that Jorge Mendes/Gestifute are being paid Euro 6.4m for the deal - Mendes is not Silva's agent

What is there to insinuate when it has been announced so publicly - meanwhile the guy behind Football Leaks, that drew so much attention to Mendes and Porto, is fighting for his freedom in a Lisbon court

I think Chester Perry is far more au fait with football finances and it's workings than most, if not all on here. I don't think he need clarify any further. Seems for rather a long period of time, not just recently there is something possibly worth investigating regards them. I've been comparing some of their deals with the Tevez saga a number of years back regards third parties etc.

Any player, regardless of experience or potential, is worth no more than another club will pay for that player. I f Wolves want to splash their wealth around then their targets are likely to be more expensive. It really is that simple.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 4:32 pmSo is a young lad with very very little experience is worth more or less than another young lad who has a good deal more?

Re: Tark - transfer
They're buying potential, same as anyone would with McNeil, the same McNeil who's twice made TAA look average.
Difference is McNeil has shown he can cut it in the PL and has shown clear signs of improving.
This lad at Wolves has played about 3hrs of first team football when it's all added up.

The increase in cost of their targets inflates the cost of everyone else's targets, it really is that simple.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 5:17 pmAny player, regardless of experience or potential, is worth no more than another club will pay for that player. Bet the club love you. You're either this MB's answer to Mystic Meg or you've just got someone the sack.

Re: Tark - transfer
A few outlets suggesting it’s just a matter of price between clubs with Tarks to West Ham.
Is the perceived wisdom that his move north to be closer to family is a no longer an issue.
West Ham appear quite directionless at the minute. Not sure playing well for them would improve his England chances. You’d think we might offer him one more year on improved terms with a clear agreement that we’d sanction a move at the end of the season.

Doesn’t matter, McNeil is a great player for us but he’ll never become a superstar like Mbappe Ronaldo etc maybe this guy will, Joao Felix went for £100M very early into his career.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 5:45 pmThey're buying potential, same as anyone would with McNeil, the same McNeil who's twice made TAA look average.

How do you know he won't?
Is it because he's at Burnley?
The other lad has played 3 hours of first team football and you seem more convinced he will and I'm not even sure why.

Re: Tark - transfer
Indeed. He kind of contradicts himself. I've only vaguely heard of this Felix chap so he can't be up to that much. Whereas McNeil is tearing right back's a new one, regardless of their nationality or cost. I personally think McNeil has potential to go all the way so we should demand top dollar with a hefty sell on clause. This is without Claret tints on. He's the best young English winger I've seen in years for any club. By that I mean a traditional take a man on, hug the touchline and get chalk on boots.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 6:43 pmHow do you know he won't?

Re: Tark - transfer
So basically Wolves have taken a punt when no one else did, partly because that agent fancied earning €6 million from a deal in which he didn't even represent the player.
He may well go on to become a world class player, but he's ended up at Wolves and not Atletico etc

Re: Tark - transfer
If we didn’t sell, we’d have to try and renew his contract. Realistically, what would he want wages wise? £70k, £80k? Can’t see us opening up that kind of discrepancy- would be very unhelpful.
Re: Tark - transfer
OK. So let's play along and say Felix is actually any good in comparison. I've seen countless examples of so called superstars with big money moves here who look like Jean Louis Valois on a bad afternoon. Playing for Atletico Madrid doesn't float my boat. I don't get off on exotic names. It's still down to what the buying/selling club feel they are worth. I get the feeling you'd cream your jeans if he was called McNelio.
