Hitlers nomination was cancelled. Trumps wont be
And to your foot stamping rage Trump will likely be elected again. Thanks too anarchistic, lawless rioters. People like you can protest on here all you like. Slag him call him thivk but its a useless protest. Makes you happy I suppose in your little world.

Re: Donald Trump
The education system bears some responsibility. When I was in Texas in the late 90’s a school board there made it policy to teach that US civilisation is the most advanced of any human society. That sort of thing kills critical thinking, but I’d say Fox bears the greatest responsibility. People who watch it know less about the world than those who don’t watch any news at all.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 9:34 pmThe fact is middle America live and breath middle America. They do not have a world view. America is so vast they really do not need one. Fox News gives them all they need to stay in touch with the rest. America is the land of the free, the home of the brave and everyone who wants to change it is these anarchist, socialist communists... the reds the enemy of freedom.
A guy I genuinely really liked was utterly convinced Tony Blair was a communist.... it was outside his world experience to have three words for snow... everything but Republican is communism.
It’s their education and life experience. Do not knock them... of course they vote Trump.

I would normally be inclined to agree with you on this but given what he has got away with, how much his party blindly back him, the power they currently hold and how weak the likes of Pelosi are I wouldn't discount anything however unlikely it might seem.

If he manages to change the rules to allow himself two more terms we might finally find out if the people own guns incase they need to overthrow their own government when it goes rogue or if they just own guns for the sake of it.

I don't know if he can/could but many Americans claim they need to own a gun incase their government goes rogue.
Changing the 2 term rule could well be seen as a President going rogue.
It's an amendment. Trump can't change it and neither can Congress. The states would need to convene and not enough of them would agree to change it.
Trump's talking about a commuting a coup when he says he wants more than 2 terms because when a president is elected it is to a fixed term, and that term have a specific expiry date and time. And when it expires he is no longer president. If he tries to remain president after that then we're talking about a coup d'etat.

Re: Donald Trump
What's the issue?
Any gun owning American I've spoken with either online or face to face will invariably claim they need their guns for protection from an invasion or if their government /president goes rogue.
Now you can get annoyed by my comments as much as you like, but IF Trump somehow managed to change the rules then I'd expect to see millions of gun carrying Americans marching on Washington to depose him.
Re: Donald Trump
Very few people in the US are actually ideological about the constitution. It's often tendentiously interpreted to grant legitimacy to an individual's, or group's will; in the case of the 2nd amendment, the rights of gun fans to play with their toys.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 11:24 pmWhat's the issue?

Quoted in a Nevada rally last night.
"We are going to win four more years in the White House and then after that we'll negotiate, right, because we’re probably, based on the way we were treated, we’re probably entitled to another four after that," he said.
Relaying the groundwork to tear up the constitution once more.
He's becoming more deluded and desperate.

The point is that that you can't debate. You throw out outrageous statements like "Trump can change the rules" ( I presume you mean the " constitution") ignoring what has already been said about the virtual impossibility of doing so. Re: Donald Trump
Why?
Because he's delusional.
He needs to be because it's what protects himself from what he is from a world that doesn't really tolerate his sort freely ; a hopelessly narcissistic psychopath.
He's aware on the edges of his delusion, that things might not be looking good for him in a democratic election, even as he's trying to kid everyone else as well as himself, they're fake polls.
So he's getting more desperate & his delusions more dangerous.
He's creating chaos and civil unrest in increasing depths.
It's what he wants, and needs, to have a chance to cling to power.
If in some weird & awful way he did win a second term, he'd almost certainly start his own Reichstag Fire 2 or 3 years in and, the rest, as they say, is (in) history.
.....then he's that equally twisted daughter waiting to continue the the dynasty...
But, never happen, would it.....?

Re: Donald Trump
I think it is possible to legally change the constitution to allow for more than two terms. I say this, because the constitution was changed to introduce the two term limit after Roosevelt died in office during his fourth term. Before that there was no limit on the number of presidential terms. I think that is right, and the reason it was introduced was to lessen to the possibility of a president dying in office, as Roosevelt did.

Because that's the hobson's choice the parties give the electorate. it's encouraging that Kamala Harris is on the Dem ticket, and if Biden wins there's every chance she'll be the front runner to get the Democratic nomination in 4 years, and of course Hillary Clinton stood in 2016.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 10:16 amWhy do they keep mainly voting in crusty old white men then if they don't want them to die in office?
What's more concerning to me is how the same few families always keep reappearing on the scene, the Clinton's, the Kennedy's, and now the Trump's.
And the common denominator in American politics is money, the sums that are spent on the campaigns alone are obscene, hence only the elite few have any realistic chance of sitting in the Oval Office.
Even supposed outsiders, such as Trump in 2016, and Bloomberg in 2020, have ploughed their own fortunes into the campaigns.

She really would trigger many on the right, although I doubt any president would manage to get tougher gun laws through the Congress, I suppose if the Dems got a sizeable majority in both houses, as well as the presidency it might happen, but the NRA still holds plenty of sway over there.

Re: Donald Trump
Gun control is one thing they need more of but right now what they need is better police control given how often they just decide to beat and kill people for sport.
I think Vegas Claret might be right about a civil war, or at least massive civil unrest. Especially if trump loses/dies.
America is heading for a nightmare scenario with their election too because with so many mail-in ballots it's quite likely that there'll be no result on the night. Coupled with trump going around and telling everyone to vote twice, and that if he loses the election is fraudulent then his defeat will lead to terrorism on a scale even larger than his victory did.

Re: Donald Trump
If Trump does win though then it will be the end of democracy in America, such as it was. He's spent 4 years hiring and firing people based on how loyal they will be to him but now he has his henchmen. Bill Barr being the most dangerous.
We're gonna see more extrajudicial killings celebrated on his twitter, more secret police kidnappings of dissenters. Basically what you're seeing in Belarus with their police just kidnapping people, that's gonna be common place since they've already tested that out this summer and saw that rather than recoil in disgust the right loved it.
I've never liked the idea from those who say every four years "if X wins then I'm moving to Canada/leaving the country" but if You're a leftist, or a Liberal, or someone who likes the freedom to protest your government, and trump wins then you should leave America, because like the socialists in 1930s Germany you are an enemy of the state.

Re: Donald Trump
American here, with my 2 cents of opinion...
While trump can claim more term limits, repealing an amendment to the constitution isnt easy and it wont happen.
Election night is going to be horrible. I think trump will declare himself the winner, regardless of what the vote is. God forbid its close and then the mail-in absentee ballots start getting counted and the results get dragged out for weeks.
I can see riots. I can see shootings. I keep thinking we have hit rock bottom but i think we still have a ways to go.

You are correct on the constitution, and Trump won't get any amendments changed, and the Dems are likely to have control of at least one of the houses, so that idea is dead in the water, however what he'll probably try and do is claim that he's being thwarted by the Washington establishment again, it's a running theme when he doesn't get what he wants, and whether we like it or not it fires his base up.AshevilleNCClaret wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 1:21 pmAmerican here, with my 2 cents of opinion...

Sadly that scenario is very likely, already Trump is questioning the legitimacy of the ballot, and the row is intensifying over mail-in ballots, despite what the current polls say, I do think it will be close, and I can see this rambling on for weeks, Florida 2000 was bad enough, but this has the potential to be 10X worse, all I'd say to anybody living in America is keep safe if you can, because this is going to get nasty I'm afraid.

Yes and it's precisely because of this that the electoral system will be overwhelmed, Oh! and I don't know what the laws are stateside, but if any British politician advocated such an act, they'd rightly be hauled over the coals, and I'm pretty sure that doing so is illegal this side of the pond, but because it's Trump people just shrug and get on with it, he's reducing the supposed beacon of democracy and freedom to an international pariah, mind you the UK government isn't faring much better in that department, so we can hardly preach.AshevilleNCClaret wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 2:07 pmHe's encouraging his base to vote absentee AND then show up in person to vote, trying to expose "voter fraud".
