I think Wood, Brady and Gibson are the only players we've signed in that bracket?

Very few links and transfer news, but a lot of other things.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Perhaps the money freed up from the salaries of Hart Lennon Hendrick and Gibson are enough to cover our financial hit from Covid with the loss of some TV money the loss of gate receipts and sponsorship and the extra costs of Covid including testing and additional cross infection measures. Our reduced income will be considerable and we cannot cost cut on the present players' and coaching staff salaries who are under contract. Many other clubs can find additional cash, our reserves are all we have as I doubt the Board have a few hundred million to chip in. As I hope most supporters can see, there is no end in sight for Covid as we start to see a rapid increase in cases. There will be no re-opening of live football soon so the shortfall in income will be with us until we get an effective vaccine likely to be next year.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Of all the clubs in the PL we are one of, if not the, least reliant on matchday income. Covid will have had an effect but really should be effecting us less than others.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
The point in isolation is correct (well up to £15 Million anyway) but in the same time the wage bill has also increased somewhat, this is mainly to reward the players for the job they have done but also to try to prevent them having their heads turned by clubs offering to "double their wages".
Burnley have a certain amount of revenue each season and if you increase one expenditure (wages) it leaves less money for other things (like transfer fees), that is if we wish to continue trying to make a profit each year.
Unfortunately the only way to generate the money to be active in the transfer market is to sell some of our better players or find other revenue (investors), the Covid issue has only made things worse this summer and this could be a really rocky road between now and October 5th. There will be money to spend but i don't think anywhere near enough for what is required this summer.

The only sign TV money is draining away is the China deal, which may be political given the Huawei situation. They said they will seek another Chinese broadcaster.
Failing that I think there’s plenty of options to grow revenue through PPV models.
I think that this year the teams that rely on Matchday income with high debts will suffer most, which won’t be us.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
It's pretty rare to see us have a full bench of first team players, without bringing in youth players.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 6:15 pmSurely we will make at least one signing for the first team before our first game? Otherwise we might not be able to fill the bench
The whole of last season, when I saw the lineup, the bench often had 1-2 players from the youth team. So I can't see that changing.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Why sign anybody before the season starts when we can sign somebody on the day the window slams. We can save a couple of weeks wages that way.Right_winger wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 6:06 pmWill we actually make a signing before the season starts?
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
There’s obviously nothing close at the moment and if there was they wouldn’t be thrown in without training etc. It’s the same every transfer window. I’ll only judge when it’s closed but you can’t help feeling frustrated can you?Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 6:15 pmSurely we will make at least one signing for the first team before our first game? Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Yep and I forgot about Drinkwater as well - a hell of a lot of money gone from the club's coffers to players bank accounts that have contributed sweet fa on the pitch where it matters - you could also add Vydra to the list maybe as well and obviously Gibson.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 5:03 pmAgree with Hart and Lennon being let go, they contributed a minimal amount last season, and I suspect will have been among our highest earners, I'd have liked to have kept Hendrick, but he's not worth pushing the boat out for, we've also got Gibson out of the door, in a fashion anyway.
So you'd hope we have some leeway on wages and budgets to bring at least 2-3 new faces in, I'll reserve judgement until the end of the window, but the noises aren't promising for any new blood.
Board have sat back and thought we can't carry on like this and I agree.

They don’t even have to play. Just be on the bench to begin.
To be honest our most promising youngsters won’t even be on the bench because they are back with the U23s.

for a club that pleads poverty the decision to release the away kit the day before the season started is laughable. Let's ignore what few revenue streams we can actually affect

Of course not we need 3 or 4 and even maybe 5 to be competitive but the thing is they need to be as good or better than what we have
But we have the same problem every window - we shop in the wrong place

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I'll be if we bring in 5, but we definitely need a CB,CM, & RW as a bare minimum, and that's just replacing Gibson, Hendrick and Lennon, plus Cork is unlikely to be on the pitch before Xmas. We could play Brownhill/Westwood in a 2, but that's risky gambling on their fitness for that length of time, we should have learned this from when Marney did his cruciate.
I'm curious why you think we shop in the wrong place, if you mean the Championship we have plenty of successes from that league, albeit not as many recently,

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I caught a taxi into the centre earlier this week and the driver had this on.
Now I've listened to it before and thought it was dreadful. I was in for probably 7 and a half minutes and that was enough to confirm my original thoughts.
I don't know who were on, but they were shocking. Interrupting each other - refusing to acknowledge anybody else's opinion - just... terrible.

How naive you are!! You’ve fallen for his woe is me patter. Perhaps if he kept his mouth shut and got on with the job (for which he is incredibly well paid) we wouldn’t have pages and pages of ill informed comment.
If he can’t do the job it’s time for him to move on.

There are plenty of quality players outside the British isles who would jump at a chance of playing in this league and see us as a step up - Dyche refuses that route but then complains about the prices for players in the championship where he wants to shoptiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 7:11 pmI'll be if we bring in 5, but we definitely need a CB,CM, & RW as a bare minimum, and that's just replacing Gibson, Hendrick and Lennon, plus Cork is unlikely to be on the pitch before Xmas.
