So, what have we learnt from the first weekend
So, what have we learnt from the first weekend
One game is only a small snapshot but:-
The top six will remain pretty much the same adding Arsenal, Wolves and Everton as possibilities
WBA and Fulham will struggle to stay up
We are then in a group of 9 other sides who I would not fear of losing points to, both home and away
Hold our nerve - keep Tarks, add Dawson or Jones for 4th CB, one CM with Prem experience eg McTominay and WR should see us ok
I know we can't loan more than one player per Prem club so the likes of Dawson and McTominay would be my preference

Re: So, what have we learnt from the first weekend
Wins and 3 points are extremely important.
No draws in any of the 8 games.
Everton, Arsenal and Newcastle are likely to do better this season than last.
Leeds will stay up.
Liverpool, Spurs and Sheff. United may struggle to do as well as last season.
Fulham, West Brom and West Ham are likely to be involved in a relegation struggle.
Can't think of anything else at present.

West Ham will sack at least 1 manager
Everton will be the surprise package

Re: So, what have we learnt from the first weekend
the media still obsessed with spurs and arsenal and nobody else.
theres still high profile football punditry jobs for tons of ex spurs or arsenal players.
linekar, wright are still as **** as last season
betting companies are as crass as ever
talk sport is as banal as ever
and leeds must be delighted to have played an opener described as best game in prem history, when in fact it was mediocre at best.

Fulham & West Brom will struggle.
Liverpool won't find it as easy.
Everton have recruited wisely.
Leeds will be entertaining to watch.
Vardy has still got his scoring boots.
Hendrick is a good signing for Newcastle.

With all due respect, I've found the media overkill unbelievable. How the hell can you judge a season on one match?

I’ve learned that all my pre season work hasn’t improved my ability at fantasy football. I got rid of Salah just before the cut off.

Fulham & West Brom will struggle.
Leeds will stay up comfortably.
Making Salah my captain in my fantasy football team was a good move!

Only thing I've learned so far is that Bamford can actually score in the PL and West Ham are still as bad as ever.

Re: So, what have we learnt from the first weekend
I’m unsure why people are so certain Leeds will stay up. Defensively, they looked shocking, and I’m not convinced Bamford or Rodrigo are going to be regularly scoring for them. Norwich had a similar start last season, probably flying high from promotion, and then hit a wall due to not being able to defend.

Derby County are still **** despite cheating finances
Peterborough are still the side to leave off your bets ( Bristol City, Norwich, Newcastle & Peterboro 4 fold paid £595 )

The three new teams to the league shipped 10 goals with Dirty Leeds shipping the most.

Re: So, what have we learnt from the first weekend
The top bunch generally even stronger, and I include Everton now. Chelsea will give some teams a real thrashing but will still concede whist their keeper plays.
Newcastle and Brighton look strong outfits
Leeds could do a "Sheff Utd" of last season
The difference between the bottom 5 clubs and the top group is even bigger (and we have yet to see Man Utd play)
Without doubt we are going to see more goals per game, and the PL already looks stronger than ever

All promoted sides lost.
All relegated sides won in the championship.
Werner looks bloody quick for Chelsea

Re: So, what have we learnt from the first weekend
Adam Lallana has been stealing a living for the last five years..him and Brighton so deserve each other
Re: So, what have we learnt from the first weekend
That it'll be the same as every season, the required points to stop up will be around 36, as usual.
Not all the big six teams will perform well throughout the season, as usual.
We'll have a few ups and downs, as usual.
We'll stay in the division, as usual.

**** all
Seriously, it is far to soon to be making predictions. Last season sheff United bucked the trend for a promoted side, they did increadably well.
This season will be different, all three prompted sides with struggle as usual
