Well played Scholesy!
Re: Claret tony
What a lovely telephone manner and voice you have there Tony, a real bed time story tellers voice ( not being sarcastic, it's a compliment )

Very well put across, Tony.
Re: Claret tony
I think there wasn't enough pessimism to reflect the feelings of this forum, nor did you say Dyche out at all, and neither did you mention wanting Garlick to go... quite disappointed. I would have thought Covid would get a mention too, and Brexit while you at it.
Call yourself a spokesperson for this forum indeed...

Whether he likes it or not he is a very good ambassador, for us the supporters and the club at large. Well worth the listen.

Re: Claret tony
I thought I'd got away with this one. I remember going on Talksport on the way back from Chelsea after the 2-2 draw and the anti-football suggestions and it got on the board almost immediately. I even received a text message from RammyClaret61 who had heard it in Australia.
Last night's was a rare on in that it wasn't live. I recorded it around 8:50 and had to pause the cricket to do it. I'd no idea what they were going to ask me until I was doing it so hopefully it came across OK.
And yes, Longsidelenny, my face was very definitely tailor made for radio.

Thought you did well there Tony. Got across our concerns in a level-headed manner, no hyperbole or panic. Common-sense stuff. Tony Livesey watch out!

I've done plenty of plugging on the board but not much of a take up unfortunately. I thought we might have got a few more given where the money is going.DAVETHEVICAR wrote: โThu Sep 17, 2020 3:24 pmBrilliant Tony but you should have plugged our First Goal Sweep for The Foodbank. Lol

i hate the station with a passion, and whilst you may have sold your soul to the devil for talking to them, it was a good interview.
most would have become tongue tied or forgetful, but you gave a very good account of yourself. admirable.

Re: Claret tony
I usually know what they are likely to be talking about and I thought it was going to be just about previewing the Sheffield United game. As it turned out it was a bit more general. Not sure I've sold my soul, more that I use them to get this website a bit of publicity just as I do with the Guardian and as I used to do even with the Daily Mail until they scrapped the weekly fan section. I always try to be constructive.Wile E Coyote wrote: โThu Sep 17, 2020 11:19 pmi hate the station with a passion, and whilst you may have sold your soul to the devil for talking to them, it was a good interview.

it was constructive, I was only kidding. and it is great publicity. I rather doubt other clubs can lay claim to similar airtime.

Do they just call you up and throw you on or do you get some advanced warning? Interested how it all works.

Re: Claret tony
Got a call yesterday at just after 5 p.m. and asked if I'd be able to do an interview with Goldstein & Cundy at around 8:40. Told it was a preview for the Sheffield United game. That was about it and the call came around 8:50 although I did get a text around 8:30 to tell me they were running a few minutes late.

CT really is a legend for all the years he's put into keeping this site running and always on the money. I was on ClaretsMad for years with thousands of posts, never really been on here much though since the move.
Remember the days when Stan Ternent was going mad at Tony (live on a post match TV interview) blaming him for missing out on players. Can't remember his name, but the Man Utd midfielder who went to Forest on loan instead of us. Always found it funny that Stan blamed the unofficial Burnley site for the reason we missed out on him
