Re: Spider advice
We had one in our garden a few weeks ago. It pushed a pineapple, shook a tree and ground some coffee. Extraordinary.

Re: Spider advice
Sitting on the loo in the bathroom at around 11pm a couple of weeks ago glanced down at the bath mat to see an enormous black spider looking back at me. Trapped him in a plastic beaker and deposited him out of bedroom window. Because he was in a plastic beaker he was able to climb the sides and almost escaped twice.

Re: Spider advice
It's actually spider season when the big b*ggers come into the house to mate, the fast wick 1s that catch the corner of your eye scuttling across the carpet, I haven't seen any yet I think the warmer weather is delaying them.

Re: Spider advice
I always leave spiders to thrive. They live on the pests that wreck your house.

Spiders like that are our friends...
But... there are some nasty lttle biting spiders about
Taken from a bbc website....
There are three common spiders in the UK that are capable of biting you:
the cellar spider, the woodlouse spider
the false widow spider. Their bites are painful and have been known to cause swelling for a few hours.
In 2014 a 60-year-old woman died after being bitten by a false widow spider. However, the cause of death was due to a bacterial infection from the puncture wound, rather than the spider venom itself.

Re: Spider advice
I read one of them links on Facebook recently which listed 15 reasonably common Spiders in UK that are capable of biting humans. The most toxic is the daddy long legs but is not able to bite properly if at all.

Re: Spider advice
Strange that the 'false widow' has number 15 on its back.
