Tarks injury
According to Jeff Stelling, Tarkowski is doubtful for tomorrow's game.
I thought it was nothing major.
Or is it just SKY getting it wrong?

If there is a risk of aggravating it, he should sit.

Re: Tarks injury
Must admit I have my suspicions because
he played every minute last season
he was the only missing first teamer on Thursday after a week of rumours that clubs were interested in him and one had made an offer
no mention of any injuries prior to Thursday
on Thursday we read it was nothing major and had it been a PL game, he would have started
today we hear he could be a doubt when we know it takes something major for him not to declare himself fit

Re: Tarks injury
We'll find out tomorrow, according to Sean it was just precautionary that he missed the SU game, but you do have to wonder given all the speculation about his future in recent weeks.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 3:06 pmMust admit I have my suspicions because

On the other hand, if he's got a slight niggle, then it makes sense not to risk him, he's one of our key men, and we can ill afford to lose him for a lengthy period, especially with Ben Mee already side-lined.
Re: Tarks injury
Can you have a ‘slight niggle’ with a sore toe? It’s either sore or it isn’t.
If he really does want to join West Ham then it’s purely down to money (not blaming him for that) as he stands no better chance either winning anything or becoming an England regular.

Re: Tarks injury
Do professional footballers not just have painkilling injections on broken toes and play? I’m sure Les Ferdinand once played the majority of a season doing this?
I’m aware we’re not sure what the issue is but I’m thinking that or an ingrowing toenail are the favourites

Re: Tarks injury
What’s interesting to me is that West Ham keep bidding for him. They must have received some encouragement from his agent to do so, because if he had no interest in going there why would they bother?

Or they’ve had no encouragement but want him so keep offering more money hoping we accept

Oh I don’t know Declan Rice is an England regular, and I think he’s well below the standardBurnleyFC wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 3:59 pmCan you have a ‘slight niggle’ with a sore toe? It’s either sore or it isn’t.

Re: Tarks injury
Doesn’t matter if we accept if the player doesn’t want to move there. We can’t force him to go. But fact that West Ham are going up in small increments which are seemingly well below our asking price suggests to me they might be hoping the player forces a move.Red Fox Rocks Socks wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 4:08 pmOr they’ve had no encouragement but want him so keep offering more money hoping we accept

When west spam reach £40 million I bet the board will sell...if he doesn't play tomorrow then you have to believe he is leaving us sadly.

Re: Tarks injury
Thing is, now is exactly the time we should be looking to sell him. He’s just had a great season, is at peak age and has two years left on his contract. We’ll never get a better price for him than now. But the Gibson situation has thrown a spanner in the works by leaving us with no natural replacement and with a Mee injured too we risk being forced to overpay for a replacement. We need one CH in before we let one go.

Re: Tarks injury
I thought someone, possibly CT, on the Sheff Utd match thread the other night, said that if the cup game had been a league match then Tarks would have played. Has that changed any since then.

Add to all the comments above-he lost the captaincy in the recent friendly a week ago, and you start to wonder if the club is pulling the wool over our eyes

My hunch is that while negotiatiions are ongoing he's not going to play, the possible buyer(s) won't want him cup-tied.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 5:16 pmAdd to all the comments above-he lost the captaincy in the recent friendly a week ago, and you start to wonder if the club is pulling the wool over our eyes
But my other hunch is that we won't receive a decent enough offer to sell him.

Re: Tarks injury
The club could easily have said 'not for sale' to West Ham and saved them keep coming back time after time. You can only assume the reason they haven't is that they want to draw a bigger player - probably Leicester - into the market.
They seem more likely to be able to come up with a deal that appeals to both club and player

They can’t say not for sale ( if this release clause exists ) all they can do is tell them they’re not offering enoughEarbyClaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 5:34 pmThe club could easily have said 'not for sale' to West Ham and saved them keep coming back time after time. If you watched the sheff utd game it was mentioned in the commentary. And also that long would likely partner mee on sunday

If we are starting with Long and Dunne tomorrow then I really do despair that we have come to this. I am sorry for any disrespect but, good grief , we are a premier league team that finished 10th last season on the strength of our stability in defence - we just can’t start the next season with 2 back up CHs, can we ?

Well if both of your first choice centre backs are injured then you’re always going to be starting with two back up centre backs.Bobzuruncle wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 6:18 pmIf we are starting with Long and Dunne tomorrow then I really do despair that we have come to this. Hopefull he’ll be fit to play tomorrow. Totally understandable that Dyche didn’t want him to play in the league cup with a minor injury.

Didn't Dyche play defence? He could fill in just until the next transfer window.

Should our best 2 central defenders be injured in November I doubt anyone would expect us to have better 3rd and 4th choices.Bobzuruncle wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 6:18 pmIf we are starting with Long and Dunne tomorrow then I really do despair that we have come to this. Re: Tarks injury
IF it’s a case of Tarks angling for a move we need to hold firm and get the price that we want. And our manager has to be given the full profit (after Brentford’s cut) to spend on the team...If this doesn’t happen Garlick is taking the ?i55

Re: Tarks injury
If Tarks stays and Mee patners him when fit , we need a very good back up ie Dawson, Jones,Bennett of Wolves and then Long as back up. Not necessarily them but this level.
If Tarks leaves we need two-a very good CH to start ie Dawson, a back up and a fit Kevin Long

Re: Tarks injury
If he is on his way and it is amicable enough, would you still play him? Or, would you play Jimmy Dunne? I would play Tarky until he is sold. Every point is precious.
Edit: but not if he is going to Leicester

Pre-transfer mock injuries are almost always toes.
Not something so you have to prove it, but possibly bad enough to stop you playing.
Toes, the perfect pre-transfer mock injury. Ask Danny Ings.
