Not sure how they'd know this, but the anfield site says that Burnley are confident. Not sure how they'd know whether we're confident or not.

He'd be joining a team who needed to score 4 and hope for a draw!Conroysleftfoot wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 3:00 pmThe problem is i can now see Leeds wading in with their massive cheque book. James Pearce will know, just as Andy Naylor does at Brighton.

Ok I'll rephrase that. He won't be reporting anything until it's a dead cert. Burnley do their business in private and try not to make it public. He won't be confirming it or denying it at their request I would assume.

You've assumed wrong, why do you seriously think the club tell him what and what not to write? Maybe it is just that our club are very difficult to deal with.

IF weve suddenly found the type of money needed to sign Wilson, then are we either about to sell someone for big money, or is the oft speculated takeover happening ?

Is Wilson worth anywhere near the sums being mentioned?
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Ok I said 'request' not tell him. I thought he had a good, or at least reasonable working relationship with them and they had asked him in the past to 'hold off' making news public for fear of scuppering a deal. I do believe our club could be difficult to deal with though. Well at least some of them at the club.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 3:11 pmYou've assumed wrong, why do you seriously think the club tell him what and what not to write? Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
based upon some fans evaluation of McNeil, I'd say yes (that's not a slight at McNeil who is fantastic, but some of our fans perceptions of values). Personally not seen enough of him to be certain myself.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I'd be delighted with this but can't help it feels a little odd. We wouldn't pay the 14m release for Quaison who we enquired about first but would pay more for a second or third choice? Unless Wilson isn't being brought in to play on the right? I'd ask where has the money come from? Is Dwight going and Wilson a like for like replacement?
I'd also presume if this comes off the same people who have been bemoaning posters for wanting signings of this ilk will be unhappy as we are putting the financial future of the club into insecurity by doing so, or so they tell anyone when someone suggests a 15m pound young lad. This will be interesting.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Wilson is far more familiar with the EPL. We know what we'd be getting and he knows the league. Quaison was a risk, even at £8 million. We need a player to hit the ground running and a player familiar with the EPL is more likely to settle quicker than a foreign player who may take a season to settle.Conroy92 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 3:21 pmI'd be delighted with this but can't help it feels a little odd. I do not think that anyone will be against this, if they feel that in the Chairman's opinion this will not prejudice the financial future of the Club. Look at it the other way. Will all the Garlick knockers apologise if this goes through?Conroy92 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 3:21 pmI'd also presume if this comes off the same people who have been bemoaning posters for wanting signings of this ilk will be unhappy as we are putting the financial future of the club into insecurity by doing so, or so they tell anyone when someone suggests a 15m pound young lad.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I hope we aren't jumping the gun regarding Harry Wilson. It seems it's only a rumour that we're interested and if any other prem team comes in... such as Sheffield United and Villa, as they often do, then that'll be the end of that one.
I hope we have other options just as good, as backup.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Think you are reading too much into this and giving more credibility to media reports and guesstimated transfer fees etc than they deserve.Conroy92 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 3:21 pmI'd be delighted with this but can't help it feels a little odd. As SD has said many times we are often linked with players that we have never even enquired about and we get media reports quoting that we have made bids of X and Y millions. And conversely there will be players that we enquire about and often get quite a way down the road to signing that never even make the media rumours.
Its a dirty business !

If Tarks was on his way we’d be buying a defender not a winger. If this has been enabled by a sale it’s more likely to be O’Neil.claret2018 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 3:57 pmI’d think that if we’re spending this kind of money, it means Tarks is almost certainly on his way

Don’t think Wilson is the “type” we should be going for. We need more like Stephens, experience by the bucket full, proven characters. Surprised we haven’t made a move for Longy at Southampton (he knows a couple of the lads). Joe Allen has to be worth a shout too ?

How about Harry Wilson from Liverpool on loan to solve the right wing berth. He ain’t going to get any action at Anfield. Decent local loan and a guarantee of first team football, at least for the time being.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Does him scoring an absolute worldy against a team at a lower level in any way disprove my opinion of him looking raw at Premier League level? What a daft thing to say. I've already said I have been very impressed with Brownhill so I'm not sure what you're trying to prove. If I link the clip of him blazing a volley 15 yards over the bar just 10 minutes before the goal does that prove me right?

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Certainly hasn't looked any more raw than anyone else in the side since he has been playing. One of our better performers recently. Like I said before, just a lazy throw away line to say "raw at this level".
