It's never a good idea to make sweeping generalisations, but here goes: the only people still fooled or enamoured by Johnson are craven, simple-minded bootlickers.
A rare login from me as I have become utterly fed up of the rubbish spouted on political threads but...........Your statement cannot go unchallenged. Not all racists and sociopaths are craven, simple-minded bootlickers.

There are a hell of a lot of racist sociopaths posting on here and I felt it necessary to defend their reputations.

It's the kind of politician you could ........... confide in & trust,
Given his proven track record, that's a truly absurd statement. You may discern qualities in him that the rest of us can't, but if you would confide in him and trust him, then you have clearly never looked into his background. Even his own family don't trust him, never mind his ex-wives, and the various people who've sacked him for his dishonesty.
I just looked at his profile. It says: "Children - "at least 6"". What sort of man won't acknowledge all his own biological children?

Probably change 'won't' to 'can't as he probably hasn't got a clue how many kids he has.

Let's face it, his latest relationship will be well and over within a couple of years.

3 The Tories have been in power 27 years out of the last 40 , you seen the state of the country
1, I was wrong to assume you're left wing. Hold my hand up.

2. Lies? I'll raise youThe Liebour Party- WMD. Hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi men women and children slaughtered.

3. 27 years out of 40. The electorate have, evidently , trusted the Tories more than Liebour.

One of the things he had done that is pretty impressive is that he'd killed internal dissent in the Tory Party.

But to do that, he had to promise stuff that he can't deliver, and that is unravelling fast.

And whatever else he's done, the six months of the COVID struggle haven't done him any favours, and until they get a handle on that, then he's going to continue to hemorrhage support.

I bet he's great fun on a night out, but as a PM?

I'm not asking you to like him or anybody else to like him, I'm replying to the thread question "Who likes boris?" I've stated my reasons why I like boris & that's that, I'm also not asking you to agree or disagree, I could counter your points but I'm choosing to avoid steering away from OP main subject.

And as a serious answer to the question. I used to like Boris. His appearences on HIGNFY were amusing and I thought it refreshing to see someone with political leanings who was prepared to be laughed at. When he became mayor of London I started to feel that he was dangerous......being a student of transport matters I thought his crusade against articulated buses and the design and purchase of the "New bus for London" were examples of his being prepared to waste vast sums on populist crusades to enhance his own political success. His backing for the "Leave" campaign seemed to be a cynical move to increase his influence in the Conservative party (especially in view of his generally pro-European statements previously).

As a PM I really think he has been poor. Ultimately he will be judged on the pandemic rather than on leaving the EU I suspect. In March his libertarian instincts delayed a full lockdown for a week after he asked us to stay home and not go to the pub. That week probably cost in excess of 10,000 lives (not a guess....a statistical analysis based on the rates of change of deaths from Covid-19). I am worried that at a time when infections are rising fast again he has not gone far enough because of those libertarian instincts. I desperately hope that I am wrong but I fear that in three or four weeks time we will not have seen any real improvement in the figures (by which I mean that the case numbers and deaths will continue to accelarate). I feel that we should be avoiding any social mixing with other households outside our bubble right now.

I'm not sure that there is a simple answer to "Do I like Boris". He still comes accross as the sort of bloke that would be an enjoyable drinking companion. The problem is that I don't trust him ......on any level or in any way.

Except you can't counter my points. I didn't post to express a view about his political beliefs or competency, but merely to point out that he is on record as a proven liar on many occasions, and therefore, for you to post, as you did, that you "could confide in him and trust him" was absurd.
Are you going to dispute that he was sacked on more then one occasion for lying, and that he has been proved to be untruthful on other occasions.
I get that you like him, but that doesn't make him trustworthy.

So the fact he lies on telly means he doesn’t lie in real life 🤪

It's the kind of politician you could have a pint with, go on a stag do with, confide in & trust, plenty of desirable qualities exist but because you are so focused on petty fault finding you choose to overlook that, put it this way he'll achieve more than you or I throughout our lifetimes not a bad result for a bloke with so many character negatives.
Fair enough, it's an answer. Putting aside the wild optimism in describing him as someone you can trust I'm not sure if these are really desirable qualities in a prime minister.

The thread should have been called "Who likes Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson" ?....lets call him by his real name.

As you can see from his name he is just that type of working class bloke you want to sit down and have a pint with - you`d have so much in common with him.

You'd could talk to him about his vegetable and fruit based named children...Lara Lettice, Milo Arthur,, Cassia Peaches, Theodore Apollo, Tarquin Cauliflower, Hyacinth Brocolli, and Tamantha Turnip (ok i made up the last 3 !!)

Heath served in the Royal Artillery during the war. To be pedantic.

I think some of his authority was moral as well, having looked him up. He was on the right side of history.

I would put Dennis Skinner in that category, and quite recently his - mainly working class - electorate booted him out of parliament. He would otherwise have become father of the house.

Not Boris but I was amused by this description of Matt Hancock

“We will not hand control of our lives and our children’s lives to people like the UK health secretary Matt Hancock; a man who if his brains were gunpowder would not blow his hat off."

from the ever-so-slightly deluded David Icke.

A look at what Johnson and his govt has been up to lately.....

1. In June Boris Johnson said to Black Lives Matter protestors: “I hear you”, and acknowledged the “incontrovertible, undeniable feeling of injustice” that “we simply cannot ignore”...

...So obviously, 40 Tory MPs refused to take part in unconscious bias training

2 The govt shut pubs an hour early, seemingly under the impression coronavirus (an inert, sub-microscopic infectious entity with no brain or nervous system) can tell the time....

....The govt demanded we all follow the rules....

....The govt exempted House Of Commons bars from the rules

3. After 6 months of world-leading “throwing apps in the bin but taking the cash anyway”, the govt finally proudly released an NHS Testing App....

....It didn't work with NHS tests....

....Or on 18% of phones....

....Or in Scotland or Northern Ireland

4 A report said only 10% of the us will use it, cos we don’t trust Dominic Cummings with our data....

.... Nor should we: the Data Commissioner said Cummings' proposed changes to privacy law will see the UK barred from sharing global data, and cost the UK economy "up to £80bn"

5 Meanwhile the promise of 500,000 tests per day won’t be reached because, in news that should shock nobody, the govt failed to order enough raw materials.....

.....So the govt stopped releasing evidence of how many are being tested, cos if you don't look at it, it isn't real

6 The govt, which only weeks ago was demanding we go back to work or all get sacked, now demands we all stay at home

7 Then the govt said the reason the UK had the worst Covid response AND worst economy in Europe is because we are “freedom-loving”....

.....And then govt freedom-lovingly banned schools from using any materials that criticised capitalism....

....Not content with this, they also banned schools discussing “victim narratives”, which is going to make it tough to maintain their national anti-bullying strategy ....

.....And then a leaked report said the govt was planning to freedom-lovingly deploy the military on the streets

8. Meanwhile, the govt announced only 24% of businesses have done any preparation for Brexit, and only 30% of cross-channel HGVs have the correct paperwork....

.....The govt finally admitted what they’d been told repeatedly since 2016, and said Brexit would create 2-day queues of 7000 lorries at Channel ports....

.....7000 lorries (at the average 16.5m each) is around 115km. That’s a queue over 70 miles long. Every day....

.....To solve this, the govt announced a new internal border in Kent, helpfully relocating 700 miles of queues to London, Essex, Surrey and East Sussex instead.....

.... A month ago, Tory MP Sir Edward Leigh was demanding we “take back” Calais. Now we’re essentially abandoning Kent.

9. Because we only had 4 years to plan for this, our lovely new border will start on 1 January and be controlled by software that – and you should probably open a second bottle around now - won’t be ready until at least 4 months later .....

.....Oh, and border checks won’t be ready in Northern Ireland either

10 But we might not have a problem anyway: it was revealed there are just 2000 EU haulage permits for our 40,000 UK hauliers. That’s 5% of what we need, for any Govt Ministers struggling with the maths.....

....And we don’t even have enough pallets for the goods we import, cos we currently rely on a supply we share with the EU, and have neither the wood nor the treatment plants, nor the required chemicals to make and treat our own....

....So now the govt has to make a 200m border, a mechanism for policing it, an internal passport system, software, admin, buy 38,000 permits and grow enough trees for 700,000 pallets. In 3 months....

....It had 5 months to add up some A-Level results, and that went swimmingly

11. I’m sure supply-and-demand won’t force prices sky high, cos it never does when you have 5% of the food the nation needs and a govt which boasts about breaking the law, but it was also announced tariffs will add £3.1bn to the nation’s food bill in Jan 2021....

.....As a mark of confidence, Jim Ratcliffe, Britain’s richest man and a leading Brexiteer, buggered off to Monaco....

....And an unnamed minister was quoted: “We are stuck in a bind. If we try to cancel Brexit we destroy ourselves; if we go ahead with it we destroy the country”

12 The London School of Economics reported the long-term cost of Brexit will be 2-3 times the cost of Covid....

....So Rishi Sunak cancelled the budget, cos once again, if you don’t look at it, it doesn’t exist

13. JPMorgan shifted £200 billion out of the UK and into Germany calling it “a result of Brexit”.....

....At least 22% of our entire national economy depends on international banks based in the City of London, so when the largest one ***** off, it's a relaxing development

14. Theresa May said the govt’s bill to break international law is “reckless” and “risks the integrity of the United Kingdom”....

....The Attorney General, who takes an oath to parliament, the Queen and The Bar to observe the law, said she was “very proud” to be breaking the law....

....The UK is a signatory and legal guarantor of the Good Friday Agreement, which brought peace to the island of Ireland after 3600 violent deaths. The Attorney General, who is sworn to maintain peace, says Brexit will break the GFA, and she is “extremely proud” of that too.....

....Turns out, the advisory Professor who told her she should go ahead and break the law and endanger peace in Ireland is the partner of Michael Gove’s special advisor. It’s amazing, these coincidences. Almost as if they don’t want to listen to anybody else

15. Speaking of which, Boris Johnson’s old friend and unfailingly irrumating backer (google it) Charles Moore, who has spent his life demanding the end of the BBC, and said the BBC causes "human misery worthy of Dickens" (does he mean Mrs Brown's Boys?) is in line to run the BBC....

....And it was reported ex Daily Mail Editor Paul Dacre, who shouts c*unt so much his meetings are called “the vagina monologues”, and whose paper is banned as a Wiki reference cos it lies so often, is going to be put in charge of Ofcom: ensuring decent and honest broadcasting....

....Oh yeah, and Boris Johnson tweeted “a free press is vital in holding the government to account”, which is probably why the people holding his govt to account are being replaced with his mates and cheerleaders

16 Tory MP and successful conscience-donor Andrea Jenkins got paid £25k from a thinktank that doesn’t exist

17 And because no list is complete without a disturbing nocturnal visitation from the smirking angel of death, Priti Patel was accused of incitement to racial hatred.

18 Whilst Patel, Jenkyns and the Attorney General were busy redefining “the party of Law and Order” the rest of the govt took a wild swing at “the party of fiscal responsibility”, when it was revealed the govt has wasted £3,895,556,000 since March....

....This includes unsafe testing kits; face masks that don’t work; broken tracing systems; useless antibody tests; cancelled ventilator challenge; and inexplicable contracts to sweet manufacturers and dormant companies with no employees, to provide PPE that never arrived

19 The govt, which insisted schools and universities reopened, said it was now vital to lock down students and prevent them from mixing in large groups....

....And then the govt said it was sanctioning class sizes of up to 60 which ... remind me, is that more or fewer than 6?

20 Matt Hancock said “we’re giving up to 11,000 iPads to care homes to enable residents to connect with loved ones”....

....“Up to” is a bit telling, but even if it’s 11,000, there are 21,700 care homes in the UK. I guess they’ll just have to share. Goodbye forever, nana!

21. And finally, if you feel all alone in despairing at this: you aren’t. Belief in Britain as a “global force for good” has fallen 10% since 2019. I, for one, am shocked to the core.

What a stupid fu.cking thread to post, get a life.
So. You typed out ‘really’ that many times and you want the OP to “get a life”?

Really?

(See what I did there?)

Probably not actually...

His lack of preparation is astounding sometimes. A government minister was unable to clarify the new lockdown rules in the north east during an interview this morning. Lunchtime arrives and the PM is facing the press. What one question would you want to put to the PM? Yes, exactly the same one one of his ministers couldn’t answer this morning. And guess what, despite having a few hours to get a definitive answer to the one question bound to come up he was unable to give a convincing answer when it did.

Yes but apart from all of those things what else have Johnson and his colleagues done wrong?

They don't know what they're doing!
If Johnson and co. don't know the rules that they came up with then how the hell are the public supposed to know them?

It's a fairly damning indictment that it was certain this question would be asked in the press conference and Johnson still didn't bother preparing for it.

TBF the bottom line always stops at if you are unsure check local guidance for clarification, prime minister or no prime minister how you can expect somebody to know district to district the exact rules which are changing on a daily basis is beyond me.

The rules are supposed to be coming from central government. He’s just too lazy to give it any thought. When he was running to be Tory leader, I mentioned that didn’t get along well with hard work, and we’re seeing that now.

Don't talk daft, Jakub.
I suppose the same Prime Minister doesn't look at all foolish bigging up new funding training for trades - apprenticeships and so on - when, two years ago, the same government cut funding for exactly the same thing. Build. Back. Better. Wtf ?
Each day brings a new series of embarrassments - the sooner Parliament plays a part in deciding where we go from here the better.

Given this was an area where the local guidance lacked clarity you don't think the responsible thing to do would have been prepare an answer so there would have been clarification?

Admittedly if the exact rules are changing on a daily basis then that would be quite a failure as well.
