Charlie Taylor
Was anyone else surprised he didn’t seem to be at least linked with the latest England squad given we didn’t even select a left back.
He’s consistently good at Premier League level and has been for a good while.

Re: Charlie Taylor
His crossing is getting better week by week.
Re: Charlie Taylor
Top 6 quality for me, which top 6 I don't know but hes one of our best, most consistent players certainly.

Nothing surprises me with Southgate. Pickford having a nightmare tonight, Henderson will be no1 soon.

Re: Charlie Taylor
Cracking left back, both in defence and going forward. Southgate, however, prefers playing right backs on the left for some reason, he must be right since all he ever did as a football club manager was relegate Middlesbrough, nothing else at all.

Re: Charlie Taylor
I wasn't so sure about Taylor initially. When he first came in during 2017/18 I thought he weakened the team. But it was in 2018/19 that he really started to improve and how good a player he's become now.

I guess SD would call it "evolution"

Re: Charlie Taylor
Probably because Turf Moor was the nearest Premier League ground to his home. He'll probably migrate to Elland Road now. He lives out in the country between Leeds and Harrogate.Sutton-Claret wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 9:37 pmWhy does Southgate seem to spend so much time at the Turf ?? is it just for the pies ??

Re: Charlie Taylor
Massive fan of Stephen Ward but Taylor really took his chance when Wardy had surgery in 2018/19 and rightly never lost his place again.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 9:42 pmBecause Ward was so good? Which he was.

Most West Ham fans would have Taylor over Tarks - though they dream of Pope, Tarks and Taylor
Perhaps they think they will win them a second world cup

I bumped into him near his home, exactly right what Dave said but he also said he will miss TM -'proper club' is how he referred to us.

Re: Charlie Taylor
Great going forward, still needs to learn better positional play and awareness.
Charlie’s a great player and has the talent to play for England if he keeps working on his weaknesses and improving.

We sang a song containing some naughty words about the brother of his favourite player in England, Eric Dier. He doesn't like us anymore..

I remember those seemingly weekly threads, when so few could see or be prepared to give time for the steady improvement he has shown, Taylor is the absolute epitome of what Dyche and his coaches can do with a player who is willing to put the effort and desire in.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 9:40 pmI wasn't so sure about Taylor initially. Re: Charlie Taylor
Didn't someone on here have a real issue with Taylor?
Claimed he'd never be good enough to replace Ward or be PL quality etc
Had a real fit when Taylor replaced Ward long term.

Re: Charlie Taylor
The best English left back after Chilwell. He deserves to at least be in the squad but Gareth is a tit.
He’ll be pandering to Danny Rose again no doubt.

I don’t think he’s England international level if I’m honest, but still a great player and I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a call up at some point

Re: Charlie Taylor
One of our best players at the mo.
Deceptively quick. Gets blocks in to prevent crosses. Glides past opposition wingers, right backs with ease and his crossing is very, very good. For such a young, developing player, he really is excellent.

Re: Charlie Taylor
Charlie Taylor is one of those players who make you realise just how good the team is.
I was talking to a few mates and suggested I'd be inclined to say I'd rather keep Taylor than swap him for Shaw, Chilwell and certainly Rose. I'm not saying I'm right, but he is seriously underrated and constantly improving.
He should have been called up to the squad purely as a consistent left-back rather than playing a right-back out of position and saying there was nobody else.

Re: Charlie Taylor
Love how he fakes a cross then bundles past full backs. He either gets through the tackle or gets a free kick which means a ball in from a dangerous position.Goodclaret wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 9:13 amOne of our best players at the mo.

It’s something I’ve come to really appreciate is people using the same trick over and over. I used to be frustrated with Eyres constantly cutting inside but he would always beat his man doing it. Why use another trick when your main one works so well??? The Waddle drop of the shoulder another example

Agree with all of this except he just turned 27 so not really ‘young’ in football terms anymore!Goodclaret wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 9:13 amOne of our best players at the mo.
