I’m sure I read on here we wouldn’t sign anyone.
Remarkable!

Re: ARTICLE: Stephens is finally a Claret
we won't see Cork again this year. Not even close to being back on the grass and will need a pre-season of 6 weeks or so plus games.
A really important signing this one with only Benson as real back up.
Re: ARTICLE: Stephens is finally a Claret
Great news!
Welcome to Burnley, Dale, welcome back to the north.
We can but hope this signing helps reduce the tension at TM.

Re: ARTICLE: Stephens is finally a Claret
OMG this is an astute signing, some might think it’s bargain basement, Dale Stephens is an experienced premier league footballer who will fit well into our squad. Would the naysayers rather have another Danny Drinkwater?

Re: ARTICLE: Stephens is finally a Claret
It's a good point. Jack hasn't played since 29th June at Crystal Palace which is now over 12 weeks ago. If he was declared fit today, given that length of time out, he'd need a lot of time catching up, getting some under-23 games, as Barnes is now, before he could be considered. That's a few weeks and he's not even at the starting point. Ben Mee is much closer to the starting point but he's been out as long so I think we'll know when he's getting closer when we see him in the under-23 line up.diamondpocket wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 9:50 pmwe won't see Cork again this year. Re: ARTICLE: Stephens is finally a Claret
Only bargain basement in that we haven't paid a lot for him. But what we've got for our money is a good pro, and experienced pro with three years as a regular in the Premier League, a player clearly with a good attitude too. I think this is a very astute signing.
Re: ARTICLE: Stephens is finally a Claret
On clarets player he talked of being here 2-3 years so I assume he is here for two seasons with a third year option in the clubs favour

Welcome Dale!
Not sure why I'm posting it because he's not exactly gonna read this, but oh well!
Have we have had another 'Dale' at Burnley? Might make good grounds for a potential chant.

Quite surprised they let him go at the price they have. Very good signing for us, experienced and nicely fills a gap in the squad.

Re: ARTICLE: Stephens is finally a Claret
I work in China and we have a WeChat Football group chat for expats. There’s a good lad on there who supports Brighton who had this to say, with a scouser getting involved too.
Stu (BHAFC) - @Stu (Burnley) Stephens has gone. Solid midfielder, good in the middle and keeps the ball well
Stu (Burnley) - @Stu BHAFC yeah mate. Not disappointed with this. Good player and a good pro. Still need more through the door but happy with this. Surprised you let him go.
Stu (BHAFC) - @Stu (Burnley) He can’t get game time now with the arrival of Lallana and the emergence of Bissouma. Now Alazate is preferred, who is 21 (Bissouma also 21) and Dutch international, Davey Pröpper, in front of him as well. He’ll be on the bench and in cup games. He won’t let you down though and he is keen to return north.
Heys (Liverpool) - How old is he?
Stu (BHAFC) - @Heys (Liverpool) 31. Can definitely do a job and likes to get his foot stuck in. Will happily nail prima donna players.
Heys (Liverpool) - Sounds like the Burnley midfield!

Re: ARTICLE: Stephens is finally a Claret
We almost have a starting Northern 11 now
Taylor, Bardsley, Tarks, Mee, Brownhill, Stephens, McNeil, Jay, Westwood.
Love it! Must be pretty unique in the PL and EFL even. One more reason to be proud of following BFC. Would struggle to follow a Portuguese team like Wolves. Mixing threads a little but I’m sure this would change if the Moneyball owners came in....

If you are saying "northern" rather than "north-west" (which all those are) you could add BPF to that line-upPassing Clouds wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 10:37 amWe almost have a starting Northern 11 now

Re: ARTICLE: Stephens is finally a Claret
He has, and I don’t think for one minute Andy would be wrong, and I picked it up from the Brighton end but the club confirmed it was just a two year deal.Reecey1987 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 9:38 pmAndy Jones from athletic said we he signed 2 year deal and 1 year in clubs favour
Re: ARTICLE: Stephens is finally a Claret
Seems a tad odd given if a third year is in the clubs favour it would seem a no brainer for us to have that in his contract and at 31 it would be odd if he turned that down and just agreed to 2 years. We have 9 in the squad with options on an extra year.
