Tark - transfer
Re: Tark - transfer
I think Tarks will go for £40 million including add-ons.
I'll be sad to see him go, but every player has their price. It's a good idea to include a player swap to reduce how much we pay Brentford.

Re: Tark - transfer
People need to remember it is Tarkowski’s career. At the end of the day, if a player feels they want to move up, then you can’t really stop them.
It’s probably best time for Burnley to sell before his contract runs down. £40million should give the Club funds to sign 2 or 3 players.

Re: Tark - transfer
Well considering this sort of post does nothing for this board ..... it’s been quite a busy one.
Interesting that he didn’t play after this started then suddenly got a toe injury too ...... now he’s also interested in going to Leicester.

Re: Tark - transfer
I think a lot of people on here have misunderstood the £50m release clause. When Tarks signed his last contract there was an agreement included that if an offer of £50m was made by Liverpool or either of the Manchester clubs then it would be automatically accepted. It doesn't go any further than that.
It doesn't mean that any bids under £50m should be rejected, it doesn't mean he's "worth" £50m and it doesn't mean it would be a bad deal for us if we sold him for less than £50m.
Given that none of those clubs seem to want to sign him and that no club is going to offer £50m for him, it is little more than a red herring in whatever is or isn't happening with him.

Re: Tark - transfer
Players will always come and go, and this is the fact of Burnley FC, its happened for years now. Yes to see Tarks leave will be a sad day but he'll move on for a lot more than the 3.5 mill we spent to get him here, that is the business model we have to use to compete in this league.
Personally I think Dunne would come on leaps and bounds playing next to Mee, every other CB we had has (Keane,Tarks,Long). Mee is the organiser and Dunne would learn lots from him, be more gutted about losing Mee TBH, he is Burnley through and through now.

40 m is good business for a player bought for 3.5 after providing very good service. Has a Burnley buy & sell written all over it.

Re: Tark - transfer
It is the business model we should be following, but this time we have messed up because we have not had the next cab off the rank ready, so to speak. Neither Dunne nor Thomas has ever played alongside Mee in a competitive game yet.buzzclarets79 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 6:49 amPlayers will always come and go, and this is the fact of Burnley FC, its happened for years now. Someone should have been brought in by now to replace Gibson.
We can't risk Dunne as a season long starter. He would benefit from a loan in the Championship.

Re: Tark - transfer
20 million will get you Simon Deli from Bruges (but don’t say you heard it from me)
Re: Tark - transfer
Said it for a few weeks now 35-49m cash will get him.
If it sllows us to buy 3 or 4 players, rebuild the squad and break even or better with Ll this covid uncertainty, then it's a good deal for Burnley.
It is also the prime time to sell as we would be lucky to get even 15-20m next summer.
Thanks Tarky, good luck in the future.
Your performances and subsequent transfer fee has helped prolong our premier league stay, and secured at least our short term future financially.

Re: Tark - transfer
And that would leave us with £10million left over if the cut to Brentford is 27.5%Belgianclaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 9:10 am20 million will get you Simon Deli from Bruges (but don’t say you heard it from me)
if Tarks goes for £40million
Get Dawson for £5-10 million and the surplus would be £15-20 million.
I suppose it is a judgement call on SD as to how good Thomas and Dunne will become

You have to hand it to Brentford with their transfer dealings, a whopping 27,5% Sell On fee negotiated for Tarks but just a 15% Sell On fee for Ollie Watkins.

Personally don’t have any issue with us offering high sell-on clauses and think we should structure deals that way given our cash constraints!

The Clarets are winless in each of the last 18 Premier League fixtures that James Tarkowski has missed, losing 10 of those matches.

Thats exactly why the muted £35-£40m some would accept is far too low. You have to consider the cost of relegation when assessing players values.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 10:52 amPicked this off BBC Sport

Re: Tark - transfer
I’ll be glad when he’s finally gone. Not that I want him to go, he’s a great player and one of my favourites - especially since learning his shithousery skills from Barnes. But the thing is, he wants what’s best for him and that’s playing at the highest level possible, I wish him well, and now want him gone so we can move on.
If he stays, we lose an awful amount of cash and there’s still no guarantee of staying in the Premier League. If he goes, we get good money and we trust our system to shape the next big CB at the club.

I just hope we haven't left Tarkowski out of the matches just to protect him from any injury.
I'd rather pick up points now and see him go for far less next season if it means us stopping up.
