The whole team 5

Stephens - 4 slow on the ball and did very little off the ball. Benson would have contributed more

Taylor - 6
Dunne - 6
Long - 6
Westwood - 5
Stephens - 5
Brownhill - 5
McNeil - 4
Wood - 4
Vydra - 4

Dyche - 3 - yes you’re annoyed at the recruitment but don’t be that petulant not to use the academy players on your bench.

A decent team would have stuffed both of those teams
Poor McNeill was dire and apart from the two “goals” didn’t see much of Danny either
Taylor 7 Brownhill 6 the rest 5

That was pretty poor to watch.
Why we had no attacking players on the bench at all will be a question Dyche needs to answer.
This power struggle is getting boring and needs resolving now.

Was Stephens on long enough for a rating? I missed the first 2 minutes and presumed he’d been sent off because I didn’t see him.

Agree Dyche has a lot to answer for.

That game was crying out for some enthusiasm, one of the youngsters could have offered that

Seems I'm not alone in the mcneil camp then. Currently Taylor is x5 an attacking threat. Mcneil looks like he's gone into a shell. Scared to do much of anything.

Pope - 5 - No need to come out for goal.
Bardsley - 6 - Pretty solid
Dunne - 6 - Should've done better with the goal. Defensive line all-over the shop 1st 10 mins. Did ok after that.
Long - 6 - As above
Taylor - 7 - Our most dangerous player. MOM.
Brownhill - 4 - Offered nothing. Shame he got shoved out wide.
Stephens - 4 - Only been here 3 days so would be tough, but is exactly the same as we already have. Brighton let him leave for a reason.
Westwood - 4 - Hoof it, repeat.
McNeil - 4 - Really poor. No end product. Looks like the world is on his shoulders.
Vydra - 4 - Will have neck ache from watching the ball go over his head.
Wood - 4 - No decent service at all.

Absolute garbage.

Pope 5
Bardsley 6
Taylor 7*
Dunne 5
Long 5
McNeil 3
Brownhill 4
Westwood 4
Stephens 3
Wood 5
Vydra 5

Felt sorry for the front two feeding on nothing. Taylor and Bardsley only ones who seemed to put any effort in.

Collectively no creativity
Plus points

Dunne

He has decent distribution and is deceptively quick

Pope 6 not much to do
Bardsley 6
Dunne 5
Long 5
Taylor 7
Brownhill 4
Stephens 3 what a poor debut offered nothing. He’s not what we needed
Westwood 4
McNeil 4 shouldn’t be the only creative outlet
Vydra 4
Wood 5

Garbage. Woeful performance. Garlick to blame but Dyche could have tried to change something. This situation can’t go on much longer or we will relegation fodder.

Pope 4 - Just terrible distribution. Lost the ball every time he got it. Touch of a trampoline.
Bards-6 not terrible
Long 3 - Liability. I think he’s actually scared of playing the ball forward into midfield through the lines.
Dunne 6 - a lot better than Long
Taylor 8 - class. The only one to give us anything going forward. Deserves more praise than any of our other players like Dwight and Pope.
Brownhill 6 - good energy and some quality but he’s not a right winger.
Stephens 4 - you can tell he hasn’t trained he was constantly in Westwood’s way.
Westwood 5 - disappointing. Off the pace
McNeil - 3 - I have never seen him play so badly. Everything was terrible. Disastrous performance.
Wood 7 - did all he can and was actually showing some quality on occasions.
Vydra 6 - slightly off the pace but no service.

Pathetic performance.

Pope ? had nothing to do - no chance with goal. Might as well have played without a keeper- I suppose 6
Bardsley 7 gave it everything
Long 6 hoofer
Dunne 6
Taylor 7 our best attacker!
Brownhill 6 right side of midfield isn't right for him
Westwood 6 disappointing
Stevens 6 tidy, has lots of time on ball but little penetration
McNeil 6
Wood 6 plank
Vydra 7 tried

Missed Mee, Tarks, Ash, Jay, Jack and Johann very much

Everyone a 5 barring Taylor - 8 and Bardsley - 6

Stephens way too slow maybe lacking match sharpness (hopefully) looks more suited to playing in a 3 of that’s how he’s at it full tilt .

It doesn't at all, but is there should we do so to ensure anyone who comes off after more than 20 minutes or goes on before or on the 70th minute get a rating. It's the standard thread header for every game.

Pope - 5 . Not fully convinced he needed to come out for the goal

Bardsley - 6
Long - 5
Dunne -6
Taylor - 7 - the one shining spot

McNeill - 4 - expect way more from him
Stepehens - 4 - reminded me so much of Alan Harper
Westwood - 4 - typical new contract performance
Brownhill - 5

Vydra - 5
Wood - 5

Difficult to assess the strikers with that level of service. Abysmal. Soton weren’t that good but didn’t need to be. We didn’t lay a glove on them.

The most telling part of this was that as abject as it was it never even entered Dyche’s head to change it. Look at the bench and you see why. Pieters was the most attack-minded player.

This week there needs to be a Come-to-Jesus meeting at Turf Moor. The Board is either going to make some long overdue investment or they’re not. But I am not going to tolerate getting to the window and hearing for the umpteenth time about “markets” and “conditions” and “January”.

Pope 5 (poor distribution)
Bardsley 6. Some good challenges and cover, put terrible clearances and crosses
Dunne 6-looked at fault with goal. Looks raw
Long 5-does very little in possessio
Taylor 8.Only player with any credit, and only attacking threat
Brownhill 7.Kept possession well and defended well
Westwood 6-poor for him
Stephens 5-did the simple things.Quiet debut
McNeil 5.Is he working to instructions. No attacking threat and poor crosses
Vydra-5. I am not convinced with this guy. had plenty of chances to stake a place.Simply not a PL striker
Wood6-no support at all

Our lack of depth and quality was certainly on show today, against a Saints side who hardly got out of second gear themselves.

Pope 6 nothing to do
Bardsley 5 putting a shift in is not enough
Long 4 Can get away with one of these two but not both
Dunne 4 see above. Could be a decent player with time.
Taylor 7 Best player by miles.
Brownhill 4 only we would sign a cm player so we could play another out of position on the wing.
Stephens 4 another Dyche journey man. Needs more time to settle in obviously but no upgrade on what we have.
Westwood 5 too many hit and hope balls
McNeil 4 Poor, needs some other decent players to play with
Wood 5
Vydra 4

No creativity or pace, one dimensional and completely devoid of any imagination. Too many Journeymen in our side. Board obviously a huge part of the problem but Dyche must take some of the blame. The side mirror his lack of attacking imagination. He's never been able to change a game effectively when not going to plan and has never developed in that regard. Nothing to lose so why not use some of the kids off the bench. Stubborn and arrogant tonight.

Pope 5 - showed tonight why he’s not in England team. His kicking leaves a lot to be desired.

Very poor performance. The two highest marks went to the two who actually looked like they was bothered. Need some much needed pace in the team.

Lots of people commenting on Stephens going missing.

He must have been missing while making twice as many tackles than anybody else on the pitch.
