Are you sure it wasn't away at Spurs last season?
Positive

Think I even mentioned it when he thought doing the business end if the season with 2 midfielders was a good idea.

Reality check needed guys. We owe our continued spell in the Premier League to Dyche and our ability to resolutely defend. When we are missing arguably one of the best centre half pairings in the division we will struggle. This pairing give confidence to the rest of the team. We don’t have the flair players at the other end and Dwight is off his game at the moment which can be expected of a young lad. He isn’t going to deliver every week. I don’t know if Tarks is leaving, however I think if the bid is up by another ten million we will lose him. Then we need to get Ben back ASAP and see if he can build another effective centre half pairing with Dunne or Long or an incoming player. It ain’t looking too good at present but remember we are only two games in.

We might be only 2 games in but look at the fixtures after the next 2 and tell me what you would feel like if we lose the next 2 PL games.

We are at risk of self destruction. Does Garlick not get that the amount he will get for the Club is dropping by the game. Far better to have replaced Gibson before the season started.

Our front six last night were little different from the one that ended the season in such good form. Stephens did well, some neat touches, twice as many tackles as anyone else on the pitch, and protected the defence after that horrible start. In normal circumstances Dyche rarely uses a sub so I’m not sure blaming Garlick gets us anywhere. Garlick didn’t play hoofball all night.

Our two centre backs were out, one who may or may not be injured but clearly wants to leave, and another on loan after falling out with the manager - again, only one man responsible for all that, and it isn’t Garlick. I don’t mind Tarky wanting to leave for a top six side - I do mind if he is “doing a Brentford” (to be determined), that would be Dyche’s job failing to motivate him not to do that if it proves to be the case.

Similarly the two centre backs not being PL standard (Dunne has potential to be though) - that is up to Dyche to ensure there is adequate backup. Good backup, similar to Stephens, would not have cost the earth, so Garlick wouldn’t have blocked it. Yesterday, Ings took advantage after just a few minutes then they just sat back and ensured the 3 points, knowing we rarely come from behind. So easy.

So all that is down to Dyche.

In balance though, I’ve been saying for years that I fear the board were fattening up the club with a view to a lucrative sale down the road - great business practice if it is their own business they have built up, more questionable whether that should be the case as a custodian of a community club, where it could lead to us being in the doldrums for decades. Time will tell on that one, but I have long since criticised that we have no nicer fans facilities as part of this Premier League experience - if we never get them, I’ll look back on this board’s tenure as a big failure (one PL promotion can easily pay for a new training ground, we have had 5 years or more). That’s my right to hold that opinion and determine what criteria I would judge as long term success, and as I said, there is nothing dodgy about it, but it isn’t necessarily in our interests as fans.

I'd go back to having to **** half way down back of the Longside every week if we would only sign a cb and right winger.

TBH if we lose the next two league games and Tarks has gone and our injury ravaged squad hasn’t been bolstered then I won’t feel too good. Ordinarily these are two games we would reasonably expect to get at least four points from. I’m not too optimistic but let’s wait and see.

He is, but he had stats of 90% short passing accuracy at Brighton.

I know every premier league player should have that and it sounds easy but they don't.
agree. What we saw yesterday was exactly what the Brighton fans said we would get

We had 7 players injured. Had they not been injured, the bench would have been chockablock.

I'm just saying that appears to be completely ignored, like it doesn't matter.

But regardless - looking at the finances, the £40 million reportedly we have in the bank could be needed for rebates by the television companies... and we're making about £5 million a season in total profit.

If all that is true, and there's at least one poster on here who seems to be well up on finance says it is, then there's not really much we can do unless the club borrows and gets in debt.

Is it strong enough to carry injuries. Just not 7.

You'd normally expect maybe 2-3 to be out, not 7.

Like I've said - we've been very unfortunate with injuries and if you took normalisation into account, we wouldn't have 7 out, thus, have more options from the bench.

I think some people think footballers are on PAYE... if they are not playing we do not have to cover wages. If we are talking to top targets it stands to reason they keep their options open... if you bring in less desirables fine but that takes some of the budget from ‘top’ targets... the fact the DS arrives should tell people Garlick realised we needed to get bodies in... he is hoping it’s only one from the ‘long term’ vault, so he is not landed paying fringe players top dollar for years. I like to see links, but I’m not in the least surprised with our lack of activity to this point. Nor SD trying to gee up better offers to swing deals.....

Still think that is all it is.

You're getting silly now! When/where has he said that we need 5 signings?
You said 5 signings not me or the manger

No subs used last night, the manager is doing that
we needed attacking subs, not a single kid on our bench has kicked a ball in the PL.

Name another club, just one, in the PL that has 4 untried kids on the bench in a league game ?

Re-read what you said when I asked if we then needed to sign 5 - Don't listen to me, read and listen to the manager.
