Abysmal
One dimensional
Predictable
Ponderous
Slow
Zero pace
Zero width
Zero creativity
No leadership
Too reliant on too many 30+ year olds.
Limited to playing a defender with 80 appearances in ten years when we shipped out a £15m+ centre half. How on earth two grown men couldn’t sort out whatever problem existed is beyond me, particularly with Mee out.
Our only signing being a 31 year old centre midfielder, who offers nothing our other 31 year old midfielders don’t.
Garlick needs to back Dyche. But I’m afraid the manager also needs to take responsibility for his one dimensional transfer policy and tactics.
Our age. Lack of investment. And reluctance to progress and sign anything other than British based players is going to undo all of our hard work.
Not good enough. And that’s from at least two games we would be hoping to get our points from.

Re: Abysmal
And to add. The negativity surrounding the club has been a huge part too. Even when results looked ok post lockdown. The interviews from Dyche were **** poor. Who is going to want to join that environment. Whatever problems there were. Between board and manager. Manager and players. Needed sorting behind closed doors.
Our main strength has always been the one club mentality. When that goes we are truly fkked.

Re: Abysmal
I’m inclined to agree.
We’re a team of grafters, but at some point, there has to be more than that.
The prospect of grinding out another 38 games, without new signings, is demoralising for the players, for the fans, for everyone.
The next few days will tell us where we’re headed. A couple of new signings, even loans, will suggest we’re up for the fight.
If we do diddly squat, then we may as well wave the white flag.

It's a damning indictment of Dyche that in our 5th season at this level our only game plan is pumping aimless balls into the box and hoping something drops for us.

9 games in the summer.
A very short break.
2 games a week
It's a hell of a lot to ask of what is an ageing squad.

I’m sick of reading that we shipped out a £15m CH.
He made it more than obvious that he didn’t want to play for us again. Would you play a CH that doesn’t want to be here?
Move on.

Re: Abysmal
Id rather play Jay & Vydra when fit because it at least stops all this thumping the ball into the box and hoping we get the second balls. We look a different team, and I agree, Stephens is just like Cork and isn’t any better in that role

Hard to disagree with anything said to date on this thread. When did we become so scared of youth or anything “foreign” Our recruitment network seems so incredibly short sighted. We are the most “hard Brexit” of clubs. It’s utterly joyless.

this is what happens when you have no investment, only one group of people are responsible for that. I very much doubt if given reasonable funds then we would sign the likes of Stephens.

Re: Abysmal
When Dyche is upbeat and positive we seem to do well. He clearly isn’t now and it’s showing. I’m ****** off that the best manager we’ve had isn’t being supported, but we can’t change that and nor can he. If he’s so unhappy then maybe he should walk away because it seems like he’s now become part of the problem.

Tarks is back but again Dwight was reluctant to take men on .
Our midfield didn't deliver except Ash and our lack of pace and accuracy of pass is a worry
Mattie Vydra and JBG should have been on at 1-1 a poor display with a score line against a poor side several players should be ashamed of

Re: Abysmal
As suggested by the OP it has nothing to do with individual players. Never wash dirty laundry in public. Usually results in one outcome.

I don’t think Stephens is a bad player he’s just not the player we needed - another 30+ defensive workhorse. We desperately needed something different. Surely our scouting network extends beyond the same old targets (literally). It’s a little desperate.

Re: Abysmal
Well he can only spend what he's given.
My issue is the long term over-working of the same 12-14 players, SD's unwillingness to rotate the squad (even just a little bit) and rest out of form players.
It's biting us now. Oldest team with insufficient energy?

Re: Abysmal
If Dyche walks he gets nothing. This is the world of football where under performing and getting the sack is rewarded with a huge pay off.
I don't think he has reached that point but he cant be impressing potential investors.

Re: Abysmal
True. But also he should be looking at the bigger picture. That his reputation is still high. And he can at least explain any resignation in a lack of investment in progressing the club. So the bigger picture is he would still walk into a job on mega money at this level when the right one comes up. I’m thinking Crystal Palace or West Ham.
That said he will have less control and Probably less security. So depends on what his ambitions are from here.
