Next manager
I think it’s fairly obvious that Dyche will be off sooner rather than later. So you would think that the board won’t be blindsided by this and have a list of potential targets ready as a replacement.
Who do you think we should go for after Dyche?

Re: Next manager
He's well paid and has a secure job. We won't sack him and he won't resign.
So he'll be here until his contract runs down.

Tony will know.
I think at one point it was a rolling yearly contract, but then somebody said he's got 2 years left.

Someone that will give the youth a chance from the academy and play football, and will allow some creative freedom in our play.
Re: Next manager
That would be no good - none of our players would be able to keep up with it.

Don't blame me, you wanted to see the list. Next Burnley Manager odds:
1. Ian Woan 10/3
2. Sam Allardyce 5/1
3. Alan Pardew 6/1
4. Mark Hughes 9/1
5. Paul Clement 11/1
6. Lee Johnson/Joey Barton 13/1
1. Ian Woan 10/3
2. Sam Allardyce 5/1
3. Alan Pardew 6/1
4. Mark Hughes 9/1
5. Paul Clement 11/1
6. Lee Johnson/Joey Barton 13/1
Re: Next manager
for me it should be Mickey Duff... but not yet, too soon
Re: Next manager
Eddie Howe. He could buy some great youngsters, play dreadful football, get homesick and leave. By that time, Dyche would be available again and the good times could roll! Failing that, I don’t even want to think about Dyche leaving.

I'm still waiting for Dyche to join Palace, Newcastle, Sunderland, Forest, Villa, Everton and anyone else he's been linked with and people on here were absolutely adamant he was off to one of those clubs.

2-4 are just the same tiresome names on the usual next manager lists.
Clement is just a cone putter outer.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to bookies odds, especially for any incoming managers, they rarely get those correct.claretburns wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 3:45 pmDon't blame me, you wanted to see the list. Next Burnley Manager odds:

If I had to prune 3 from that bunch it'd be Hughes & Johnson, maybe Joey at a push, I'd also throw Alexander, Cook, Duff & McGreal into the mix if we want to go down the ex-player route.
Woan- no too much continuity.
Allardyce- no thanks he'd leave the club a wreck.
Pardew- there's a reason he hasn't been employed for several years he's a busted flush.
Clement- blimey no he couldn't hack it at Derby with buckets of cash to spend.

Why do people think that hiring Paul Cook or Michael Duff would be any more successful than the last time we hired an ex-player with no managerial experience at Premier League level?

Re: Next manager
Woan will stay with SD. Strikes me as a YES man
For me Chris Hughton because by then we will need someone with experience of getting us out of the Championship. He also will have knowledge of players in the Championship and lower divisions. The next manager will need to do a rebuilding job. Unless he insists on an assistant of his choice, Michael Duff to be his assistant, as he knows the club well. I feel Michael is an easy coach to work with

How much Premier League experience did Dyche have? In fact how many games had he managed prior to coming here (49 wasn’t it...?)
In fact, can I ask how many times does a manager manage a team in the Premier League before they manage their first team in the Premier League?
Don’t forget that Duff was an actual team manager with us whilst in the Premier League (albeit u18) and he has managed a small town club since, that counts for something even before you consider he was a massively successful player for us as well as someone who is held in high regard.
F#ck it, you’re probably right - let’s get fat Sam or Pardew and let them p!ss money we don’t have away on show pony mercenaries, that’ll work.

If SD went tomorrow, I would take Allardyce.
Not sure many fans wouldn't take him, to be fair. He's kept more clubs up than I've had sausage sandwiches.

Re: Next manager
We didn't recruit Dyche for the Premier League and he'd managed at the level we were at. As Rileybobs has said, nothing to suggest Cook or Duff would be good candidates but there always seems to be a clamour for an ex-player.

Re: Next manager
I simply have no idea to be honest. I do fear Hughes given his links with Rigg but I don't know who I'd want. Did I want Dyche? Not particularly but I didn't get the opportunity to interview him and I'm told he blew us away with the interview which left him the number one candidate by some distance. I'm not advocating Big Sam at all but he's the one that's been closest to Dyche in terms of treating the players with respect and honesty.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 4:41 pmTony, who would be your number one choice if SD did ever leave?

OK-thanks Tony. I have totally misjudged him then, and I prefer that he isn't and speaks his mind. When Sean turns round to him in games he generally just seems to nod in agreement which is what I based it on, plus I have yet to seem him do an interview, or stand in for Sean

Exactly, everybody has to start off somewhere, people tend to work up gradually in most cases, it's unlikely a milkman is going to give his round up & take over at Barcelona, it's normal when discussing potential managers to be suggesting associates ex players especially such as duff & Barton who already have some managerial experience albeit not at PL level yet.Zlatan wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 4:33 pmHow much Premier League experience did Dyche have? I think along similar lines.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 4:44 pmI simply have no idea to be honest. I do fear Hughes given his links with Rigg but I don't know who I'd want. Did I want Dyche? But I do also think Big Sam is a stay up strategy and not try and improve on what we've done with finishing 7th and 10th over the last 3 seasons. It would be a case of finish 17th and that'll do.
