I have a good copy, condition wise. But it’s got the team changes inked on the back. It also as an autograph. But don’t know who’s it is.

A great match, result notwithstanding. Burnley literally butchered by Chelsea who kicked Ralph Coates up hill and dale. Well and truly a man’s game back then.

It took me a while to find this programme, and even then I paid a fair bit for it!

Seen them go for £40-£50 in mint condition .. had mine either since the game as my Dad would have been on or bought by myself later in the 70s from Tom's shop ...

I seem to remember 30K there. Couldn't get in before kick off because of the crush. Finally ended up at the very top of the Bee Hole End.

Could not see the pitch due to the constant crushing, remember looking up to the sky passing out due to lack of air and then coming round again.

Tom's shop ...
Tom & Christine - fantastic shop on Yorkshire Street. I still see Tom occasionally; Christine sadly passed away two or three years ago.

Yes nice people ... I remember Brian taking the shop for a while when Tom and Christine went into the licensed trade ? I’d be at Preston Poly then I used to call in on my way home the programme shop had gone upstairs by then ... then Brian kept the subscriptions going from his home for a while so I’d call round there for my orders every couple of months ... Good days off the pitch not so good on it 😂

I miss Brian. I went to away games with him for years and also sat next to him on the Turf.

Yes I remember Tony , I used to travel with Brian and yourself ,whenever I didn’t fancy driving, amongst the dwindling band of away fans in the days when we got down to one double decker to places like Northampton and Scunthorpe ...

this might have solved a mystery, I didn't know the shop specialised in match programmes, I wandered in one morning and bought a cup final one, never could figure out why it was in there. It wasn't in a special area in the shop though, just on the front counter.

Unfortunate as I have 2 copies of most the programmes that season but not the Chelsea game. I've been trying to complete the full set of programmes for the 1959-60 championship winning season and just have Spurs at home missing which is very expensive on the few occasions i've seen it offered.

I always remember the week in 1984/85 when we had night games at Plymouth, Gillingham and Newport on Tuesday, Friday, Tuesday. I seem to remember there being 17 on the last one of them.

Kevinm1905, I have that programme which is in mint condition. As someone who has over 60 years programme collecting experience, I can vouch for its condition.
If Tony reads this and you want to contact him via e mail, he hopefully will pass on my details.
Ralphc I'm sorry I can't help on your request.
I had previously sold my vast collection, a few years ago, I bought another Post War Home and Away collection, with the aim of selling them on, so happy to help, f I can.

Also missing Newcastle, Bolton, Luton & Wolves away for that season, don't suppose you have any of those?

Ralphc, I've got the N/castle, with a small ink scribble on the back page and Wolves away games for that season, both in good condition. The other 2 were not in that division that season. If it's the 58/59 season, I've got them both. The Bolton 1 with the 3 team changes inked in. Otherwise both good condition.

Just checked and all were in the 1st division in 1959-60. Would you be willing to sell the 2 that you have?

I'm just missing Everton and Luton (both home programmes) from the 1958/59 season, if anyone can help!

My mistake about them both, not being in Div 1. I was in the middle of doing a job and hadn't checked properly. If their free, good luck with the RammyClarets61 offer.
I've got both Everton and Luton Home games S D W..

S D W, yes they're for sale. Rather than discuss prices on here, I'd rather you first see them for yourself. If you live in the Burnley area, we could perhaps meet up outside the Football Club shop sometime (bring a mask) during the week, at your convenience. If it's raining, I will be in a Grey car parked on Higgin St outside the Park View.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I'm working all week. I'm more than happy to see some photos of the programmes via email though.

As you've mentioned, you've been collecting programmes for many years, so I trust you're knowledgeable on what constitutes a sellable programme or not. We may even know each other!

Could you please email me at burnleycollector@hotmail.com ?

With regards to that match i went on the longside at 7-00 got a good place to watch the match, i was 18 at the time , i had one pint in the Park View, at half time i needed a pee so after taking 5mins to get to the loos at the back of the longside i tried to fight my way thru the people in front of me, no chance, i ended up in the part where the longside meets the Bee hole end talk about crush, for two years afterwards i never had a pint before the match, and we lost 3-1 in extra time, the good old days, lol just saying mind. You wouldnt get a crush like that these days.

I was on that night a well & can only remember Chopper Harris rugby tackling Ralph Coates as he was hell bent for a lung bursting run on the Chelsea goal.Today it would be a red card but then it was just a foul & nothing else.
Also, what about Dobbo’s two goals from 2-0 down at Stamford Bridge to bring them back to the Turf!
Great days!
