It’s a marathon not a sprint. Still think they’ll be down there come the business end.
It does need repeating that they’ve spent a fortune too.

It wont last long, spending money means they could soon be the next Bolton or Bury

Re: How did Leeds get so good?
So we’ve had threads saying Villa should be good they’ve spent £200m whenever they win. Now we’ve got Leeds “They’ve spent £100m”.
So really, money doesn’t matter, right?

On what basis? No chance there’s too much about them, just thrashed the team away who thrashed the champions, took a point off city & ran Liverpool close away.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 12:36 pmIt’s a marathon not a sprint. Still think they’ll be down there come the business end.

Re: How did Leeds get so good?
Yeah and Norwich beat City last year and were flying high. Let’s reconvene later in the year. Bielsa’s teams well known to burn out I don’t believe their style is sustainable particularly in the hectic festive period.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 2:01 pmOn what basis? Re: How did Leeds get so good?
And yet we are the only club to get any points at Anfield in the last season and half but for many of our so called supporters giving us any credit for that is a step too far!Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 2:01 pmOn what basis? Seems we never get fantastic results according to some.

Re: How did Leeds get so good?
I’m talking about this season, people seem intent on raking the past up but the truth is things have changed since then, here & now can we focus on that, at the time if I remember rightly everybody was praising the team tinged with sadness that JBG shot wasn’t slightly lower but we are in a slightly different place right now.
Re: How did Leeds get so good?
no, he probably laughs, he did get a bit of a shitty time at Burnley. pity SDcouldnt see his ability, showed plenty of potential when with us,more than proving himself in an attacking, positive Leeds side.

If we played your type of dream boat football with our beer money, we would have been relegated years ago.jojomk1 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 10:59 amAs you say, "I never watched the game" so you don't have a clue what you are talking about
I want Burnley to beat Leeds every time we play them but I just don't get this obsession by many on here to call them down when they play the type of football we can only dream of
Be grateful of where we are and what we have achieved instead of always wanting more, you sound like a spoilt brat who always wants his own way
Re: How did Leeds get so good?
They’ve got to be given credit. It’s Bielsa that’s the driving force, he’s improved players, massively increased their fitness and got them playing an effective, pleasing on the eye style of football. OK, they’ve spent big this summer but they’ve got a bit of backing behind them now and maybe more to come (that could well be the current owners aim, to sell on in the future).
They remind me of us a few years ago - pressing hard as a team and high fitness / work rate. So far, they’re probably looking better than we did because they’ve got more technical players available to them as well.
I don’t think Bielsa will stay long - I’d not be surprised if he left at the end of the season, having kept them up (which they’ll do comfortably).

Don't under-estimate Jack Duckworth - a dark horse.

It didn't happen overnight.
They've benefited this season from having no crowds as the Leeds faithful put an enormous amount of pressure on if things don't start well.
My mate's son is a squad player.

Re: How did Leeds get so good?
Don't know about that, Elland road would be absolutely bouncing this year, not an easy place for opposition teams to go at all.dougcollins wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 8:38 pmIt didn't happen overnight.

Re: How did Leeds get so good?
No, the players absolutely say (privately) that having no crowd has helped.
I had a few games (as a guest) at Elland Road last season in the Championship, and it was fascinating how much the crowd were on their backs if they hadn't scored in twenty minutes. And if the away side scored first it was like game over.
Bielsa has worked hard on that aspect also, but re-educating that crowd is some job.

I really think this is going to be another Leicester type season. We will never know what could of been if we had been able to add a few to the squad and have better luck on injuries.

Re: How did Leeds get so good?
Spent 100m on some very good players and already had a good few on the books. They have a great manager. Case closed.

I can now understand why you didn't actually watch the game - your mum had porobably already tucked you up in bed with your teddy bear

Re: How did Leeds get so good?
By playing really good attacking football, Bielsa is a genius , Never thought I would see Bamford scoring a hat trick in the prem!
Re: How did Leeds get so good?
A couple of seasons ago Bournemouth beat Chelsea 4-0 in what was described as a brilliant display of attacking football.
Just thought I'd share this little nugget of information.

Re: How did Leeds get so good?
When Bielsa was first appointed at Leeds Poch raved about him and Pep described him as the best coach in the world
It has took him a couple of seasons, and yes some money has been spent, but he has "coached" almost all of them to standards that even they probably didn't think they were capable of.
Ayling, Phillips, Dallas, Harrison and even Bamford have improved greatly. Brighton allowed Ben White to go there on loan last year and now plays every game for them.
Money certainly helps but Bielsa has shown that coaching a certain style (and player's belief in that style) goes a long way

Re: How did Leeds get so good?
I think that Leeds unfortunately have a solid roadmap set out, with the manager, location and lots of interest of investment. They have the manager and the money. They just have the worst overall set of fans in the country, which they'll always have.

Re: How did Leeds get so good?
Why can't you accept that as football fans we're allowed to compliment an opposing team? Do you think it makes us less of a Burnley fan?
