Sorry but you can’t defend the EFL on this one. A disgrace. Make any decision before the season starts. It really should have been deducted last season and relegated them.

They broke the rules. Invented sponsors to inflate income. Nah not for me.

This will just encourage more clubs to bend the rules and yet again makes a mockery of the FFP rules or whatever they are called nowadays.

Imagine a scenario that Sheff Wed make the play-offs by a couple of points, and end up as a PL team next season.

This then why they now have four points?

Palace were in the bottom 3 one Christmas and won promotion via the play offs.

Good couple of days for Wednesday. 9 points better off than they were at the weekend with a win against a team near the top of the league too

Look at it another way. Had they been relegated, prior to hearing any appeal, and found themselves playing in League One this season, we would now have a situation where their appeal was upheld, the deduction of point changed to 6 which would have meant that they would have finished in 19th place, thus avoiding relelgation anyway.
This would have left an even greater mess because they could have taken the EFL to court for wrongful relegation and the EFL would not have a leg to stand on because they had not followed their own procedures in allowing the appeal to be heard.

If that mean't that them down the road missed out on the play-offs then I'd go along with it!
