Leicester City
What a great scouting system these guys have had for some time now-both home and abroad. Vardy, Mahrez, Kante,Drinkwater,Fukhs. More recentlly Madison, Justin, Under, Fofana, Soyuncu. Many more examples
Also a great academy-two examples being Chilwell and Barnes. Chilwell is possibly this seasons stand out left back. Barnes is only going to get bettert. You have to take your hat off to them. I can see them winning a trophy of some sort this season-maybe the Europa Cup

Re: LEICESTER CITY
I often wondered if we should build a crisp bowl and go under and not pay any of the suppliers who built the bowl, and then attract overseas investment to take on the club and see how we’d do.

Re: LEICESTER CITY
Having moved to Leics in the last 12 months let me tell you guys they are the model of a community club, that can afford the decency and courtesy of recognising, appreciating and communicating with its fan base at all times. Their chairman is a proper people's man and we have experienced it first hand. We talk about the top 6 but they have a great future through the way they run their business

I don’t disagree with any of that, and I respect them for it. My comment above is how they got there, and I didn’t like it at the timewarksclaret wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 9:49 pmHaving moved to Leics in the last 12 months let me tell you guys they are the model of a community club, that can afford the decency and courtesy of recognising, appreciating and communicating with its fan base at all times. I visit often and agree with you. Its good to see them up there and upsetting the so called top six. Love them to win it and that win at the Etihad was really something.warksclaret wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 9:49 pmHaving moved to Leics in the last 12 months let me tell you guys they are the model of a community club, that can afford the decency and courtesy of recognising, appreciating and communicating with its fan base at all times. They do find good players and obviously have a good scouting set up.

It’s just a shame that bellend Lineker supports them.

I just hope you realise that this community club you refer to acquired its ground by deliberately defaulting on payment.warksclaret wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 9:49 pmHaving moved to Leics in the last 12 months let me tell you guys they are the model of a community club, that can afford the decency and courtesy of recognising, appreciating and communicating with its fan base at all times. If only every club had a billionaire we could all become a great community club that happens to pay massive wages.

Re: LEICESTER CITY
I cannot defend the way they behaved pre the current Thailand owners taking over. I was making reference to the way they are set up now, and have been for the past 6 or 7 years. It could still have gone belly up in the past 10 years but they seem to be well run, and I am certain that the clubs outside the TOP 6 will benchmark their activities both on and off the pitch

Just like Man City, Fulham, Chelsea, and Aston Villa amongst the richest of the overseas owners in the PL today. No way are any of these community clubs and I could mention a few more

They didn't get Dwight, Mee, Tarks, Barnes, Wood, Defour, Heaton, Keane, Trippier, Ings or Vokes though, did they!warksclaret wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 9:33 pmWhat a great scouting system these guys have had for some time now-both home and abroad. Re: LEICESTER CITY
I'm not really sure it was deliberate.
They were really badly run, recently relegated and drowning in debt, especially after the collapse of ITV digital which was something that caused issues at many clubs.
HMRC issued them a winding up order, even though they're pretty useless at the best of times.
Administration and a CVA was probably the only way to stop the club going bang.
We all know that a number of businesses never saw the money they were owed, including St John's Ambulance and a few went under if I remember rightly, but I don't think it was done intentionally.

The fact that they got a brand new ground for nothing.arise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 10:53 pmFraud? Really?

Re: LEICESTER CITY
Is that it-is that the sum of our scouting system in the last 8 or 9 years. Actually I think you will find they were ahead of us with three of the players you mentioned. Keane, Mee and Wood all played for Leicester City before they kicked a ball for ustarkys_ears wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 11:03 pmThey didn't get Dwight, Mee, Tarks, Barnes, Wood, Defour, Heaton, Keane, Trippier, Ings or Vokes though, did they!

Re: Leicester City
Fans of those Clubs that are doing well don't really care where the money comes from or where it didn't go. The only people who take umbridge at their success are those who aren't a part of it.
If our takeover happens and 3 years down the line we win silverware nobody will care if the money is washed or not. A few will claim the moral high ground but nobody will be listening.
That's real life.

Re: Leicester City
HaHa-I am definitely a claret, have been since 1961. My family are all Foxes, much as I tried to convert them. Both boys were born yards from Filbert Street, and I took them there at a very early age in the days of Izzett, Savage, Heskey, Guppy, Walsh etc and where I now live, in my road alone that are 5 families of season ticket holders. The ground is sold out for all PL games(circa 32,000) and you dare not give up your season tickets. Comfortably expect if they had capacity an extra 10,000 season tickets would not be a challenge, so I can talk about LCC with some experienceclaretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 8:54 amHave you asked if there is a waiting list for season tickets warksfox
Re: Leicester City
The new owners could have done the right thing and paid off the debts left by the previous regime. That would also have been the real world.
And we shouldn't forget the people of Thailand, a very poor country. The money being spent on Leicester City is wealth derived from the Thai tourist industry. In my view, all that money should be spent to promote the health and welfare of the poorest people in Thailand, not p*****d away on some rich man's little game

Re: Leicester City
Why should they-it was not a legal requirement. They have been generous through Foundations set up by their late Chairman and contributed £2m to the Leicester Royal Infirmary (children's intensive care unit), and have given £4m through the foundation to the city's universities, hospitals and local children 's hospice, and other bona fide local charities. I don't hear similar stories about some far richer PL owners in their communityErasmus wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 9:52 amThe new owners could have done the right thing and paid off the debts left by the previous regime. Although I dont support them in the way I support Burnley and Leeds, Leicester are sort of my 3rd team after that fairytale season winning the league. The stuff Warks mentions plus the great attacking football they play has just cemented my admiration for them
If we could get owners half as good as the Leicester ones then we'd all be very happy people

Exactly, they've gone above & beyond what's normally expected, you'll always get 1 or 2 criticising, if they ended child poverty in a heartbeat some would go out of there way to find a dig.warksclaret wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 10:30 amWhy should they-it was not a legal requirement.
