Today's footie 8/11/20
no-one has started a thread yet so here goes.
A late Harry Kane winner for Spurs at West Brom, sends them top, but their stay at the summit might be short-lived, a Jamie Vardy penalty has just given Leicester the lead at home to Wolves, the table makes interesting reading it's like we've gone back in time to 2016 all over again.
An easy win for Celtic eases the pressure on Lenny for a week or two anyway, Rangers can maintain their sizeable advantage with a win over Hamilton later.
Plenty of FA Cup stories being written, Solihull Moors gaining a 3-2 victory at Scunthorpe, who are having a nightmare season.
In the games still ongoing Chorley are 2-2 at Wigan with about 15 minutes remaining, could be a historic result for them.
Torquay are rolling back the years as they're heading for victory over Crawley 2-1 to the good in the dying minutes.
Morecambe ahead at Maldon & Tiptree, that would be a much needed morale booster for them if they hang on.
And there's several non-league sides heading for penalties, so there could well be a large number in the 2nd round draw.

Re: Today's footie 8/11/20
The Baggies/Spurs game was similar to ours against them: West Brom played well and put Spurs under some pressure before conceding the inevitable late goal.
In the Leicester game I thought it was very harsh to give the first penalty against Wolves, the second definitely was a pen. Wolves seem a lot slower in their style of play than they used to be, they seem to like to hold on to the ball at the back more than they used to.

Re: Today's footie 8/11/20
Bonkers game at Torquay 3-3 at the end of normal time, and for some reason they had about 20 minutes of IT, I can only guess there's been a serious injury.
Chorley now 3-2 ahead in ET, after trailing 2-0, what a comeback that would be if they see it out.
Barnet another non-league side to KO league opposition, Burton literally going for a Burton.
A tale of 2 Jamie Vardy penalties at the King Power, one scored, one missed, somehow Wolves are still in the game after being battered for 45 minutes.

Us and Brighton the only teams to get a point in the bottom 6 six this weekend.

This stat sums up the PL this season
Has anyone already observed that we could see 4 premiership leaders in one day today? Southampton, Spurs, Leicester, Liverpool.
Surely that's never happened before in the entire history of the PL.

Yes it's been a decent weekend results wise, less said about the performance the better, but I'd rather pick up a point playing poorly, then get nothing after playing well, you don't get points for style, you get points for results.rufus lumley wrote: ↑Sun Nov 08, 2020 3:13 pmUs and Brighton the only teams to get a point in the bottom 6 six this weekend.

Re: Today's footie 8/11/20
Chorley through at Wigan, what a result that is, and they were 2-0 down, the FA Cup never disappoints does it.
5-4 at Torquay now, that game has had everything and more.
Hayes & Yeading 2-1 up in the last couple of minutes, but Carlisle have just pegged 1 back, nerve-jangling ending there.

Games at Eastleigh and Hayes have gone to pens, Carlisle equalising at the death, this season just keeps giving drama in every format.
MK Dons through 4-3.
That crazy game at Torquay just gets crazier 5-5 now.

Re: Today's footie 8/11/20
Yep he's had a baptism of fire this season, despite usually being their best player he's shipped goals left, right and centre, this could get ugly for them today, Rangers have the bit between their teeth, and they're not going to let up. GD could yet play a part in their battle with Celtic, it's nip and tuck this season.
4-0 now.

Re: Today's footie 8/11/20
Carlisle somehow squeezed through on pens, how I have no idea they were dead and buried with 2 minutes of ET left. Another crazy day of footy, can this season get anymore bizarre, probably given what we've already witnessed in the first couple of months.

Re: Today's footie 8/11/20
Leicester top of the tree now, the 3rd team to top the table within a few hours, pressure turns to Liverpool to respond.
Re: Today's footie 8/11/20
Feel a bit sorry for the fans of the non league sides who've caused cup shocks, must be gutting to not be there, particularly Chorley at Wigan.

Re: Today's footie 8/11/20
8-0 at Ibrox now, this is turning into a procession, you have to feel for Ryan Fulton, this could end up double figures at this rate, still 20 minutes to go, Hamilton haven't even managed a shot, let alone a shot on target, and they haven't even mustered a corner, this is a proper caning.
Re: Today's footie 8/11/20
Brian Easton playing for Hamilton, surely not ex claret Easton ?
Re: Today's footie 8/11/20
Seems a lifetime ago he was playing for us.
Re: Today's footie 8/11/20
Don’t worry too much about Ryan. He’s a big Rangers fan anyway.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 08, 2020 4:32 pm8-0 at Ibrox now, this is turning into a procession, you have to feel for Ryan Fulton, this could end up double figures at this rate, still 20 minutes to go, Hamilton haven't even managed a shot, let alone a shot on target, and they haven't even mustered a corner, this is a proper caning.

For a top team City don't half miss a lot of spot kicks, even KDB has been affected by their penalty curse.

Some wonderful attacking football from Liverpool first 25 mins.
It makes you question how we are in the same league as these teams, and I don't mean that as a slight on us.

Re: Today's footie 8/11/20
Criminal really especially for someone of De Bruyne's quality, that's actually a worse miss than Lookman's, at least the keeper had to save his, although is was a comfortable save, De Bruyne didn't even work the keeper.
Re: Today's footie 8/11/20
No side even interested in winning that in the last half and hour.

Re: Today's footie 8/11/20
No I can understand the Scousers being content with a point, especially away to the team perceived as their most likely challengers, but surely City needed to win that, strangely subdued showing by Pep's men. I get the impression something's not right behind the scenes at City, whether it's because Pep's contract is up at the end of the season, or other reasons, but in my view all is not well at the Etihad.
People are talking about a crisis at OT, and yet if United win their game in hand at the turf, they'd leapfrog City in the table, it's a funny old game as they say.
I'll wager TAA won't be available for England after coming off injured, it didn't look good did it.

The first 2 were out of our reach for various reasons, but I and others did big McGinn up when he was playing in Scotland, and everybody said he was no good and wouldn't make the leap to English football, £3.5m he cost that's a snip in anyone's book.Vino blanco wrote: ↑Sun Nov 08, 2020 8:53 pmGrealish, Barkley and McGuinn that's what you call a midfield!
