I travelled to Brighton on a Central Motors coach that set off at.midnight on Friday. We arrived there around 7.00am for a game that kicked off at 3.00pm.

My first visit to the Goldstone, too.
I was in my final year at Birmingham University, so I went New Street to Euston and Victoria to Hove.

Snap. I think that there were 2 Central Motors coaches that left on Friday night, maybe we could have been on the same one!Stan Tastic wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 3:08 pmI travelled to Brighton on a Central Motors coach that set off at.midnight on Friday. Don't think Accy Clarets had been formed then. From the Hyndburn area we used to travel on Ribblesdale and Robinsons but used Central when those two weren't running.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 3:34 pmLeisure was on the one with and Accy Clarets poster on the windscreen

My third match that season, unfortunately my last as I was back in Malta a month later. This time I travelled alone by train, no fully suited colleague with me and arrived late at the ground. I went in through the first turnstile I saw and was behind one of the goals with Brighton fans. Fortunately I was behind the goal where Martin Dobson so majestically scored!!!!! I also remember an incident in the first half when Alan Stevenson kicked a long ball out of his hands, Doug Collins ran back from almost the half way line to remonstrate with him with clenched fists and plenty use of the F word!!

Central Motors....happy memories. Yeah remember a trip to Plymouth departing midnight Friday after the pubs had shut, arriving about 7am....knackered, with someone singing "No sleep on Central" most of the night.Stan Tastic wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 3:08 pmI travelled to Brighton on a Central Motors coach that set off at.midnight on Friday. There used to be 2 options for return time for some games (local and middle-distance ones), either straight after the match or something like 11pm!
Re: ARTICLE: Dobbo goal wins game at Brighton
Yeah, not sure just what we did arriving so early, seeing as there were no Wetherspoons then opening that early!?

Re: ARTICLE: Dobbo goal wins game at Brighton
I was living in London at the time. A few weeks earlier I had broken my leg playing football, so was in plaster. But with the aid of crutches I got a bus into London, then got the train down to Brighton. The Burnley team had travelled by train, as I saw Billy Ingham (I guess in those days a young fringe player), dragging the team kit along the platform in between train connections. From memory it was a dismal day weather wise
