Lewis Richardson
Is there a chance he could feature for the first team this season?
Every time you read an U23 report he gets a good mention. I believe Stone recently said he is getting better every single game.
I have only seen one game where he played and he looked like he had skill but needed to bulk out a little.

I can’t see it with the looks of how this season is going to pan out.

I’m hoping he gets minutes in the FA cup

2 mins in a 3rd Round, 5-0 defeat to City?

Re: Lewis Richardson
He's been possibly the "most likely" of a very promising crop for a while now and has been involved with the England set up at his age level and at Burnley frequently plays in the age level above (CT or Leisure will correct this if I'm wrong). He was injured for a while last season, but fingers crossed he stays fit and keeps progressing as he has. And let's hope he gets a do on the big stage at some point.

There must be something about him. He is always referred to in the U23 reports

Re: Lewis Richardson
Isn't he only 17 too? Yes I know I could look it up on player info, but I am off out.
Re: Lewis Richardson
He, and any others, will only get a chance if we are down to the bones with injuries
It's a pity because we know now what an impact Dwight has made but he only got the chance because of injuries to all other wide men season before last
I go back to the end of last season at Norwich. Two nil up, against 9 men and still Dyche would not even give any of the youngsters that were on the bench 5-10 mins of experience
Having said that Vydra usually doesn't get that much game time now that the much loved Barnes is back

Re: Lewis Richardson
Yes, he's been playing well above his age group for quite some time now but as you say, he was out for quite a while recovering from injury. Before that he was quite a prolific scorer and he's scored just 1 goal in his 6 games this season. Hopefully he'll get his scoring boots on soon and continue to progress, as he does look like one of our better prospects to make that big step-up to the senior squad.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 10:34 amHe's been possibly the "most likely" of a very promising crop for a while now and has been involved with the England set up at his age level and at Burnley frequently plays in the age level above (CT or Leisure will correct this if I'm wrong). Re: Lewis Richardson
He should be on the bench v Iceland as Gareth likes to fast track rising stars!

Re: Lewis Richardson
One goal in six games but he's not been playing up front - they shifted him in the main out onto the left of midfield.Leisure wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 11:39 amYes, he's been playing well above his age group for quite some time now but as you say, he was out for quite a while recovering from injury. He was on the bench recently (Chelsea at home I think) but he had a long time out with a back injury last season which is quite a regular occurrence for young players.

Wonder why they've not been playing him upfront?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 1:52 pmOne goal in six games but he's not been playing up front - they shifted him in the main out onto the left of midfield.

Played up front yesterday against Preston in the friendly if the report is correct.

Re: Lewis Richardson
Preston's keeper scored with a wind-assisted clearance in yesterday's match too. By no means writing him off but I notice Richter was in goal for Burnley and he also made a big mistake/misjudgement last week with Aston Villa's first goal as well.

Re: Lewis Richardson
The misjudgement you referred to was no more than his kick once he'd done the right thing to come out of goal to clear the ball. Seeing the goals from that game is the first time I've seen Richter in action so I'm not going to be criticising him on that.Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 2:29 pmPreston's keeper scored with a wind-assisted clearance in yesterday's match too. Conor Ripley, by the way, is the goalkeeper who let that Kieran Trippier goal in at Middlesbrough back in January 2012 that he should have saved. He's former Blackburn player Stuart Ripley's son.

Who scored our goals v Preston ?

But why him then and not any of the other 3 strikers?

Re: Lewis Richardson
Well, unfortunately when keepers make mistakes they tend to lead to goals and whether he made the correct judgment to come out or not he made a mistake which led to a goal. I haven’t seen him yet either and I did say I wasn’t meaning to write him off - just commenting on making a mistake which led to a goal one week followed by the opposing keeper scoring a goal against him the next.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 2:31 pmThe misjudgement you referred to was no more than his kick once he'd done the right thing to come out of goal to clear the ball. I know Ripley. I was actually a little surprised when I read Preston signed him.

Re: Lewis Richardson
Harker and Thompson played upfront vs Villa. Harker is a big lad.
The manager seemed determined to go with a 4-4-2, probably to copy first team. Tactics not that different either, but I suppose that's to be expected.

I'd certainly agree with that.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 4:37 pmHarker and Mumbongo don't look suited to playing in a wide position
I didn't think Richardson played particularly well, if he was being judged purely as a midfield player, but he did get into some decent shooting positions.
I think it's great that the club showed this game (and I believe will show others). Really interesting to watch.

Re: Lewis Richardson
Only if you pay extra for it. I've watched the u23s since they got into the PDL three years ago, virtually every home game and some away games, I've raised over £60,000 via the websites for the academy, I've continued to pay for my season ticket and yet they want more money from me to watch U23 games being streamed. I think it's time to say get stuffed.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 4:42 pm

Re: Lewis Richardson
On the subject of the youngsters. Apologies if I missed it. The French lad Mancini on loan from Angers. The official site says he's out on loan. Can they loan out a loanee? Or do they mean he is on loan?

So you don't have Clarets+, or whatever they call it now? I pay the £4 something a month, which I think is OK. It's all they get out of me these days.

Re: Lewis Richardson
I'm assuming that must be an error - for one, I can't imagine you can take a player on loan and then loan him out and they've never reported that as I can recall.
Re: Lewis Richardson
Makes sense. That site is error strewn and worse to navigate than before. I thought it was odd loaning out a loanee.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 4:58 pmI'm assuming that must be an error - for one, I can't imagine you can take a player on loan and then loan him out and they've never reported that as I can recall.

Hopefully it will make things a little easier once they get all the different parts of the site under 1 login but it's certainly open to improvement! It seems to have been put together by someone who themselves maybe knows just where to find things but they've forgotten to take into account other less informed people (like the fans!)
