Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Right so correct me where I am wrong, and just to be clear.
1. Farnell and El Kashashy is the preferred bid. Their offer hasn't been accepted formally but the Premier League directors test is currently underway in relation to their bid.
2. No one knows if Farnell is going to be an owner or board member or just lawyer acting as a conduit for other unknown Dubai based consortium members.
3. There seems to be a lot of negativity about Farnell certainly from others in the media, those at CAFC and more worryingly from CT, who knows more people at BFC than most of us. The board therefore would be aware of these concerns but are ignoring them and pressing ahead regardless.
4. Mike G is a great chairman and only bothered about the future and safety of BFC not cash.
5. ALK are still in talks, though appear some way behind.
6. Most seem to prefer ALK given their associated role with player talent identification and previous apparent success in football in America.
7. I think it was ALK who were mooted as a significant investment including in the local economy and had met local council members to discuss investment (could be wrong on this).
8. DJW seems to prefer this bid as do most, and certainly from what he has said knows a decent amount about both bids.
I think that is my understanding so far, anyone know why ALK are not selected then? DJW you have already stated above that you know a preferred bid has been identified.

If the Farnell bid is successful, I suspect we are in for a bumpy ride.
It will possibly need clarets fans to unite and fight with all our might.
I know the Clarets Trust will do what we can, and hopefully join together with Tony and other like minded individuals or organisations.
Tony, do you still have my email address, by the way?

Hi Grumps
Whilst I am usually one who like you wants to see all the facts in this instance I’m not sure it is needed, we are at risk of our Club suffering potentially irrecoverable harm by the time we have all the facts out Club could be already on the slippery slope. Now you are correct they may be totally bonafide and have huge benefit to our Club but pretty much everything points to the opposite.
I haven’t followed the story fully and only know what has been put in this thread the bits I have read.
I know 2 facts
1. Farnell was banned from owning a Football League Club ( I know it has since been rescinded but the fact he was initially banned is scary enough)
2. Farnell was driving around in a Range Rover seemingly bought with Charlton FC money, which has since been re-possessed. That is enough for me to not want him anywhere near my club in any capacity.
I know if no positive fact and when you put these facts with all the rumours and the opinions of CT and others as well as Simon Jordan today on TalkSPORT. That is enough for me
I am really concerned about this

Ok, you name me the clubs he's been involved with and what the outcomes were....and can I say....theres nothing personal in this....I just want someone who is...shall we say giving him the benefit of the doubt, to come up with a reason why we should feel comfortable in his involvement with our club.

There’s pros and cons to both bids, both have different models.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
If one bid is offering the Chairman a place of power and £90 million in the bank, would he not opt for that bid and as already stated he has the casting vote with his current shareholding. What I would hope is the Premier league do a good background check on anyone trying to takeover or buy there way into BFC. Also I think we have to realise the Chairman is a businessman first and foremost and will do what I expect is best for his benefit and if he stays I can only see one outcome for the Manager, who I believe to be the best we have had in my 50+ years as a fan.

I’ve no idea but whatever the role there is enough evidence from at least four other football clubs that would suggest that we should have serious concerns whatever the role.
I must admit that my investigations must have got under his skin for him to have his PR man emailing me wanting to tell me that everything being said about him is all wrong.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
So clearly you are telling us ALK are out of the picture, and the club has agreed to sell Burnley FC to a bloke who (from my research):
- A LinkedIn profile that is less impressive than the bloke I just hired to be a contractor till March on what amounts to 30k a year.
- No discernible links online anywhere to any reason to suspect he has any real wealth.
- is tied in with a man who appears to have been involved in a series of (now ruined) football clubs, has already failed on multiple occasions to buy a club because he has failed the requisite checks and tests, has had legal battles/troubles pertaining to misconduct, assault, and seems to have been accused of theft of a company car.
You’ve come this far by leaking this deal for the best part of two months DJW (which must mean you feel fairly well protected by your anonymity on here, one would assume) so why not go the whole 9 yards at this point and tell us in a non-mysterious manner how on Earth we’ve A) Even begun dialogue with what appear to be shysters and B) Now agreed to sell to them. What is it that has appealed more than ALK, what funding do they actually have, is there reason to be as concerned as so many are (in your opinion), and have they agreed a fee for the club with Mike Garlick?
Don’t take any of the above as derogatory towards you, I’m just trying to understand how something that seems so utterly mental is being considered right now? People can say ‘give them a chance’, ‘what do Charlton fans know’, ‘better than more years under Garlick’ and whatever else comforts them - but the facts, as I understand them currently, sit above. In the absence of more information (and I’m not even convinced it’ll be forthcoming when the club even get around to saying something) you can’t help but think this sounds ridiculous.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Garlick is a businessman and a fan. I don’t know why he has to be predominantly one more than the other. Was buying into Burnley and devoting a lot of time and money into the club without any guarantee of a return a decision led more by his business head or his supporter’s heart?CnBtruntru wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 9:24 pmIf one bid is offering the Chairman a place of power and £90 million in the bank, would he not opt for that bid and as already stated he has the casting vote with his current shareholding. That’s not to say the selling of the his stake of the club won’t be a business decision, but by the same measure I don’t know why you think he will do what is best for his benefit without consideration for the benefit of the club.

2020 has been one hell of a crap year, pandemic, recession, BFC potentially being owned by people who are not Clarets or indeed football people and Bobby Ball dies.

Maybe. But it now feels like it’s come to crunch time and some posters are writing cheques they can’t cash (if you pardon the pun).
Details aren’t essential. Some of the questions have even been yes or no answers. But answering questions with questions and/or saying ask someone else......really?
