Prediction v Man City

Post by Boss Hogg » Tue Nov 24, 2020 12:32 pm

I’m hopeful of a better display than usual against them.
Think we can keep it to 3 and not 5 this time. Man City 3 Burnley 0

I was just looking last night at the last 5 aways trips to City.

3-1
4-0
5-0
5-0
5-0

Just relieved I don't have to go and watch the next one on Saturday.

Unfortunately, City have a point to prove after their indifferent start

Already had a bet on 5 or more goals

3 - 2 to us would be acceptable

This is one of those games where a series of smallpence flutter can innoculate you slightly against the inevitable gut wrencher scoreline.

Back the following at 50p each.

4-1
4-0
5-1
5-0
6-1
6-0

I’m going to plum for 6-0 seen as the results seem to get continually worse!

I think our style and set up just doesn’t fair up well against City’s pass and move, tiki-taka style. Ben and Tarks are immense but would prefer it when they are facing balls in the air they ground.

Would like Dyche to change shape against teams like City and play 5 in midfield to contain them better, but can’t see that and to be fair doesn’t have the personnel to do it.

Very poor odds, a fourth successive 5-0 defeat would only give you a £5 profit! 6-1 would be very much more lucrative though :)

Anything less than 5 in the "against" column, we'd have to consider a step forward!!

I hate playing City id dread to think what the aggregate score must be over the past 20 odd years! Witnessed so many drubbings against them both home and away.

City haven't scored that many yet this season so someone is probably due a hammering. With Aguero to come back as well I'll go for the standard 5 nil.

Funnily enough I fancy us to score also, however they'll have to much 3-1 City, which TBF wouldn't be bad from a trip to the Etihad.

I’m an optimist. City are in poor form. We are due a result against them. Our defence looks a lot more settled. They don’t look consistent or confident at all.

So I’m going 4-0 city.

I'd take 0-0, but I doubt it.

City play a high line so long balls to Chris Wood are a waste of time. We need real pace at the top of the pitch, so I would like to see Vyds and Jay start. Nothing against Chris, just horses for courses. If we do that and carry a threat we might avoid the constant wave of attacks.
The other thing to do is stop Foden from shooting outside the box. Its a good tactic against most players, to allow them the shot from distance, but that lads deadly.

Heart says 0-0, head says 3-0.

Only time you stand a chance is it they are on an off day and our players all happen to turn into ronaldo's. It can happen, especially if Pope and the defence have a good start. Frustrate them so they start to throw their toys out of the pram.
Realistically I hope we can limit them to a closer victory and show we are at least a bit more solid than we have been against them in the past.

I don't care if we turn up without motivation. Much rather see us motivated against teams we have a better chance to beat.

I think Sean will adopt the Ferdinand Foch philosophy -

My centre is giving way, my right is in retreat, situation excellent, I shall attack..... :D

We've not had a seven against this lot for a few years now

Half-time 0-0
Early penalty for City in the second half, debatable penalty given by Mason and confirmed by Jones
Deflected second goal for City late in the game
0-2

Not an ideal result for us tonight. Was hoping they’d lose and have to go to Porto to get a result to top the group.

Foden & Sterling started. Hope that’s the pair of them rested for Saturday!!!

Just seen a stat that Foden has scored 10 goals in 2020 accross all formats, despite not being a regular.
The most for any Premier league midfielder.

I think we tried that at home last season and that still ended in a drubbing. Although the midfield did include Drinkwater

Backs to wall colossal defending. As Liam Gallagher would say “biblical” defending.

But unfortunately we’ll concede 2. Luckily we’ll score 3.

2 for them and 3 own goals for us? That's pretty realistic!
