Re: Remembering Stuart Adamson
19 years ago? Can't believe it was that long ago.
Don't think it got a mention but it was 40 years on Tuesday last week that John Lennon died.

Funnily enough I enjoyed an hour or so of Big Country’s live clips from YouTube just the other morning. Fantastic band.

Yes hung himself in Hawaii my Mrs tells me she knows a few members, she won’t let me talk to the drummer as I can only ever think Greg Rudeski whenever I try to think of his name.
Re: Remembering Stuart Adamson
Went to see Big Country at The Mechanics about 12 years ago, minus Stuart of course.
Tony & Bruce sharing the vocals duties.
They were fantastic.

Saw them at Knebworth in 1986 as part of the Queen line up. Thought they were very good live and I followed them by buying a couple of albums after

Re: Remembering Stuart Adamson
Saw them at the grand in clitheroe (great venue) last year, quite excellent and full of energy despite being gentlemen of a certain age.
Re: Remembering Stuart Adamson
Excellent band still performing and remembering Stuart Adamson.
Played Morecambe in last few years and really gave energy in the performance. Far far from a tribute, still a proper band.
Steeltown and Buffalo Skinners albums have been on a loop in the car for months. Brilliant.

Some excellent tracks and I still enjoy a listen every now and then in the car. It was very sad at the time to hear what happened to Adamson.

Re: Remembering Stuart Adamson
A brilliant guitarist and that debut album from Big Country is a fantastic record with a real Scottish identity and almost "mystical" quality on tracks like this...Porrohman

Re: Remembering Stuart Adamson
One of the best live groups I have seen live back in 1989 on the Peace in our Time tour. Great albums too, The Crossing, The Seer, Steeltown especially. A sad day when we lost Stuart.
Re: Remembering Stuart Adamson
Top guitarist and good lyricist for me. Steeltown a top album. Wonderland and steeltown my fave tracks. Have stood the test of time for me.

The soundtrack from the film restless natives was 1 of their finest pieces of music.

That was one of the clips I watched. Hard to believe it is circa 35 years ago.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 12:07 amSuper band. Did the live New Years Eve show one year for BBC2. They were amazing.
The best way to play Big Country stuff is full blast in the car....magical
Re: Remembering Stuart Adamson
Saw them support Bowie many years ago.
Good live band.
Sad for Adamson and his friends and family but good the band is still going and playing live for their fans.
Lots of good artists and music from the 80s are going through a great revival in the last few years. Seem a few recently like Tears for Fears in Toronto, Human League in Lytham and Martin Fry with an ochestra at the Lowry - all were still brilliant and brought back loads of good memories.

Reading Hexagon 1986 which i think was shown on Whistle Test possibly. Captures the band at their finest for me.

"Into the Valley" a favourite of mine in my late teens. Also "Working for the yankee dollar".
