I don’t think you can discount any side up to and including Newcastle.

Not a fan of this, whatsover. It's asking for trouble.

Re: Relegation thread
Obviously the teams with less points are more likely to go down. I just think that it’s far too early to be writing off sides like Newcastle who look pretty poor but have amassed a decent number of points.
Pretty sure that a number of people said it’s three 3 from 4 just a couple of weeks ago and now Brighton are also right in the mix.

It’s nailed on West Brom, Fulham and Leeds. Not even worth discussing.

Re: Relegation thread
I'm damn sure you can't - look at last season when Bournemouth had 16 points from the first 11 games and finished with 34. Meanwhile Southampton had 8 points from 12 games and finished with 52.

Sheff Utd
West Brom
Brighton
The 1st 2 mentioned look in big trouble, Fulham I can see just surviving, they're showing some fight and the odd touch of quality, and if they continue sorting their defence out , they've got the players that can win games, we're on the other extreme, no problems keeping it tight at the back, but struggling to create and score, Brighton play a lot of decent football, however they lack the killer instinct to win games, the last spot will come down to Brighton, Burnley & Fulham, hopefully we can cobble together enough points to keep our heads above water.

This thread should be relegated, not even the top teams have achieved 36 points yet.

Can we have a vote that this thread is relegated to the bin. Nothing against Steve at all, but this is asking for trouble.kritichris wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 10:22 pmThis thread should be relegated, not even the top teams have achieved 36 points yet.

Re: Relegation thread
Our first season - we were around there on 17 points after 14 games.
Blackpool were bang on 18 after 14 games.
Both went down. Those two were obvious examples I remember but there will be plenty more!
Whats even more alarming about those two images - at least 10 of those clubs in the top halves have gone down at least once in those ten years!

Re: Relegation thread
I said it on a previous thread. Given the start we have had, I'll take Burnley being 17th at Christmas. One game at a time, but if we can be above the relegation line at Christmas, that's a big step forward. Onwards and upwards.
Re: Relegation thread
I’ll take a guess that we’ll be above Newcastle come FA Cup 3rd round weekend.
8 points may seem quite a gap, but we play 4 games and them 3 games before that 3rd round.
Newcastle play
Man City
Liverpool
Leicester City
We play
Wolves
Leeds
Sheffield Utd
Fulham
We could get beat by Wolves and Leeds and beat Sheffield Utd and Fulham. Even if we don’t get above Newcastle, they’ll be right in the mix.

Agreed Newcastle are in the relegation fight, I also think Palace are as well.
Re: Relegation thread
Agreed, Newcastle without Saint Maximin were abject against Fulham, let's hope he doesn't feature much going forward.
Likewise Palace will also be in the mix, providing teams handle Zaha properly.
In the meantime we need to get our own attacking house in order to take the pressure off the back 5.

Re: Relegation thread
The one caveat regarding Blackpool is that they got relegated on 39 points. In all likelihood the teams at the bottom won't get that many this time (2-3 points less) so any team currently on 18 points after 14 matches has effectively got a couple of extra points in comparison to the same situation as Blackpool.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 10:57 pmOur first season - we were around there on 17 points after 14 games.

Re: Relegation thread
This thread seems to have upset a few, this is my opinion of which I'm entitled,I wouldn't mind I have tipped us to survive.please be nice.
Re: Relegation thread
I think we might just make it but it will be tough.
Fulham are looking much better as of late and look as if they can score.
There's still a possibility that one of teams above us
could be dragged into it (Brighton, Newcastle possibly) but I feel it
will be between us and Fulham.
