Jack Cork has played a few games, he's making good progress, Charlie Taylor, Dwight McNeil, Jay Rodriguez are all making good progress and been training, along with Matej Vydra.

On his discussions with Pace
“We had a good, open discussion with the owners, I think there will be some finance to use, the impression is to continue the building process and not cheat the system by throwing money at it”

How long will the players need to isolate for? Is it shorter than 10 days, as they can be tested again sooner?

Cheers. Guess the question is, who the two players are. Was there any mention of McNeil in the injury update?Reecey1987 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 4:30 pmTaken from boden

I really thought he would be more optimistic about January signings.
If anything it sounded like nothing at all had changed. Not expecting anything this window after that.

Yeah cos the best way to approach the window would be to say we are going to throw loads of cash at it (even if it was true) and be bent over by every club...Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 4:55 pmI really thought he would be more optimistic about January signings.

I guess SD is being cautious re new recruits, ie "I believe it when I see it".
I hope though he is not putting a barrier in with his usual "I believe in the current squad! ". If this happens and he resists new players and we go down, the new owners will be be really hacked off

Re: SD press conference at 4pm
I don’t think there will be much transfer activity at all.
The gloomy Covid outlook and high numbers of infections is pointing to a significant break in the second half of the season (maybe until March). The further loss of income and potential loss of tv money may cause a rethink by the Chairman and his board until the summer as they won’t want to pay high wages to new recruits who aren’t playing.
Also the manager’s success is achieved by getting the maximum effort and commitment from the players by forming a tight knit, happy squad. He will be very cautious about rocking the boat halfway through a season, particularly with a “stellar” signing. Imo he will be advising the Chairman that he is content to press on with the existing squad to salvage the all important Prem. status. The Chairman will take this advice and will support the manager by keeping his team happy - especially the players that are likely to be targeted by others - Tarks, McNeill, Pope etc.
Therefore any new faces are likely to be replacements (for players leaving for silly money) or ones for the future.

Re: SD press conference at 4pm
As Mike Garlick did all the transfer negotiations before I can imagine a scene something like this may have taken place at Turf Moor.
Alan Pace: Mike Hi, have you got a minute?
Mike Garlick: Of course Alan, the only reason I'm still using the Chairman's office is so that I can be here to help "transition".
AP: Right, yes. Listen, I've spoken with Sean and he tells me that there's a great young player at Sherwood Forest called Joe Worrell. I ran the data and checked the stats and we feel he's under valued and capable of stepping up to a higher level.
MG: Ah right Worrell, I remember that. We bid for him not long ago.
AP: Right, so listen, we believe Forest are asking for 9 million and we see that as good value. Obviously I've never overseen a transfer negotiation here before so I wanted your advice. What did you do last time?
MG: Offered them three, told them it was take it or leave it and bid two million for a rival player to show them that we had other irons in the fire.
AP: OK, that's interesting. But it didn't work.
MG: No...but if you throw enough **** at enough fans some will still buy a season ticket. If it was still up to me it would be a toss up between going back in with 3 million again or chance your arm with a lower bid, you never know they might be desperate.
AP: Okay.. and if that doesn't work?
MG: Think up a list of complicated add-ons that will never have to be paid. That'll make them think they're getting a better deal.
AP: Interesting. Do you have the number for someone at Forest?
MG: Of course. Would you like me to make the call?
AP: Thanks for the offer Mike but I think it might be better for my "learning curve" if I handle this one on my own.

You can't measure history, tradition and romance with a £ sign, but that's the gritty reality of 'modern' football and how the FA Cup has to be viewed in the whole scheme of things.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 5:49 pmLess than the difference one place in the PL.table makes
It's telling that a lot of clubs' highest historic record attendances are in the FA Cup, now the crowds in the early-ish rounds look more like those for pre-season friendlies and often with an atmosphere to match.
FA Cup Final day TV coverage used to start at about 9am on both channels and was a national event, now it starts about 10 minutes before a 5.30pm kick off. I know the world was a very different place back then and that kind of attention and impact could just never happen again, but it's still a real shame that what was once such a treasured part of the game is now to some clubs not much more than an inconvenience.

Why should he say anything other than what he said? He expressed his own feelings, he doesn't need to do anything other than that. He manages a football club which has just been taken over by new owners and that is as far as it goes at this moment in time.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 6:30 pmThat’s a bit over the top. Absolutely - as a young lad I used to witness a whole day of drinking fun and games where my dad and his mates used to all get together with all the kids and throw a party to watch the game at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon. What are you saying then ? if the new owners were in place May 2020 we would have been far more active in the summer transfer window ? thats when we needed the boost, now we virtually have a full squad to play and pick from and have a "reasonable" points tally so why the urgency now ?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 4:56 pmhe said he's not banking on it - I suspect we will likely get a couple in
