Pathetic that a professional footballer can't get a penalty on target.

Re: Tonight's games
Despite Sterling missing a late penalty, City see it out 1-0, they made heavy weather of that though. Is that 1 win in 16 now for Brighton.
Now it's over to Spurs to do the business, and last night's defeat won't be too damaging.

Cos we always sit back deep playing long balls back out to relieve the obvious pressure we put ourselves underVegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 7:54 pmFinished City 1 Brighton 0

Brighton play some good, forward passing football
Imagine if they had a Wood or Barnes up front and they would be challenging for Europe
Re: Tonight's games
Oddly, Potter decided not to play Maupay from the beginning as they didn't have a regular striker on from the start.
No wonder Brighton are below us in the league with two games more played.

City were so bad I ended up hoping Brighton equalised.
Re: Tonight's games
Brighton are below us because Maupay plays most games

Re: Tonight's games
Brighton managed 4% more possession against City than we had but only had 5 shots with 1 on target, whereas we managed 9 with 1 on target.
City's finishing tonight was very poor whereas, against us, they only had 3 more shots than tonight and had 6 on target, just as tonight, however, they scored 5 against us. That's football.

Re: Tonight's games
Maybe but they still came away with nothing, just as we did.
For all the talk about Brighton playing well, they can't win games, hence why they are trailing behind us having played more games.

One win in 16 games. But at least they have their dignity.Hbclaret007 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 8:26 pmBrighton actually have not won in nine league matches....
Let's hope they continue to 'give teams games' - who needs to be capable of picking up points?

Fulham have started quite positively and could go above Brighton tonight

Impressed with Fulham, look like a confident side. Not playing like they are worried about relegation.

Re: Tonight's games
Eric Dier will never be a half decent CB. Holding midfield is his only position where he helps his side and he’s not close to Hjoberg there.

Re: Tonight's games
They are being allowed to by a Spurs side playing like they expected to win, as did City against BHA.
We never get that because opposition managers instil it into them there are no easy games against Burnley.

Fulham create a chance or two and put it away. On current form Wood mistimes that jump and sends the header flying over the bar.
Re: Tonight's games
No way fulham will go down. My money is on Sheff U, West Brom and 1 of Palace Brighton and sadly us

Re: Tonight's games
No way that Fulham will go down? They’re 2 points away from being above the drop zone having won just 2 games all season. How can you discount them from being relegation contenders?

Re: Tonight's games
Can't see Palace getting dragged in, Newcastle on the other hand are dropping like a stone, and could find themselves in a 4 way battle with us, Brighton & Fulham for that last spot, the bottom 2 can't be totally written off, but it's looking grim for both.
Re: Tonight's games
To say Fulham won't go down is a bit odd considering we are almost at the halfway point in the season and they are still in the bottom 3.

Re: Tonight's games
You’re in trouble if you keep not winning when you’re playing well. Fulham are playing well and look decent but they don’t know how to win. Same with Brighton.

Re: Tonight's games
We’ve won as many as those two combined!
But yes, we have to score more goals, no doubt.
Re: Tonight's games
My maxim at present is that we equal or better
the results/points either Fulham, Brighton, West Brom, Sheff Utd. and possibly Newcastle
manage to get and particularly better in our home games against Fulham, Brighton,
West Brom and Newcastle.
From what I've seen of them (especially Fulham and Brighton) then I'd have to say
I'm worried about them. They both play good football, seem up for the fight
and score goals. Defensively we might be a notch better but we all know goals
wins games and we're really struggling to score.
There's still 20/21 games to play so a lot of points at stake but 35 or 36
might just be enough this season.
So looking at it another way 6 more wins and 2/3 draws might be enough.
Let's hope so.
