Richard Keogh
Been a good week for him.
1. Gets a move back to the Championship with Huddersfield
2. Wins his appeal against his sacking by Derby who must pay him £2 million.

Re: Richard Keogh
Good for him on the appeal, especially as he wasn't even the one driving.

Re: Richard Keogh
Glad to hear that - Always came across as if they used the incident as an excuse to get rid of an old pro.
One thing I wonder though, how on earth are Derby planning on paying that?

Perhaps Burnley will help them out and be their Knight in shining armour.
Re: Richard Keogh
It would be the honourable thing for us to do. After all, Keogh has given Burnley a helping hand over the years..Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 12:03 pmPerhaps Burnley will help them out and be their Knight in shining armour.

Could it be Derby's insurers that have to pay it?

Re: Richard Keogh
£2m really is an eye popping amount, particularly given Derby's current circumstances.

Derby now preparing to appeal against the appeal.
Re: Richard Keogh
If they are successful will Keogh appeal against the appeal that Derby appealed against the appeal

Re: Richard Keogh
That whole incident stank. Keogh, admittedly the senior pro, seems to have been made the scapegoat. Two younger and more valuable "assets" were banned and fined.
A fourth player's identity, it is rumoured, has been witheld.
I'm glad it's come back to bite Derby's arse.

I predict a January sale hitting Pride Park in the next week or so. could be a good time to go bargain hunting.MiltonKeynesClaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 11:51 amGlad to hear that - Always came across as if they used the incident as an excuse to get rid of an old pro.

Re: Richard Keogh
Just read recent interview with him in the Guardian on the incident. Not impressed by any of it. Still trying to convince people he was unaware driver had been drinking (which is just ********) and bemoaning the lack of arranged transport. (god forbid he ring a taxi) Derby deserved what they got for their hypocrisy but the guy is a tool. Take some responsibility for your poor decisions. Although the drivers and **** passengers who ran off and left him unconscious/for dead are on another level all together.. amazing he still protects them and has seemingly forgiven them, although with this story I wouldn’t be surprised if there are murky deals in the background to keep it that way.

Re: Richard Keogh
They went out to get legless. The others in the car got off lightly-he was hung to dry presumably as he was ageing and little worth to the club
Re: Richard Keogh
He didn't wear a seatbelt either. A senior player, especially as captain, should really be setting the example.
The fact Derby sacked him but only fined the the two drivers, who just happened to be younger and worth more, absolutely stank.

Re: Richard Keogh
That article could have been written by his PR team. Wasn't there class A drugs alleged to be involved in the incident? That seem to be forgotten and incident blamed on his Nan passing away.Stanbill05 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 3:43 amJust read recent interview with him in the Guardian on the incident. I don't think he can grass anyone up as they would all sink, and lets be honest they have all come out of it pretty well all things considered.

Always seemed an odd one that as he was even given a squad number. Is there an interesting story there?

Re: Richard Keogh
Thats what I seemed to remember but someone must have had a big overnight change of heart...presumably someone (wasn't it Bristol City) had a fatter cheque bookClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 12:05 pmWe announced that we'd signed him and then, on the following day, Steve Cotterill said he wouldn't be signing. That was summer 2005.
PS I know its 16 years ago bit he hasn't aged well has he?

Re: Richard Keogh
I think the change of heart was at our end because of his agent
