Your other example "joke" makes no sense, so I'm guessing you've mistyped... but whatever, I've always seen Evans as a modern day Norman Wisdom, whom I didn’t find funny either, but each to their own.

Re: Stealing a living
He's called Richard Osman, and maybe you should try to find out a bit more about him before accusing him of stealing a living.
Two interesting facts about him:
He's actually the guy who devised and created "Pointless", so he could actually just sit at home and earn some money from its royalties, but he got that job because when he took the "game" to Endemol to promote it, he had to play that role himself, and they were so impressed by him that they decided to employ him rather than paying another "celebrity".
Another interesting point: He was born with a chronic, untreatable eye condition, which makes it impossible for him to read an auto-cue. This means that he does virtually all his stuff from memory, with just occasional reference to "cue cards".
Cambridge graduate, clever man, appears to be very hardworking. Good at his jobs.
Not to your taste, (fair enough) but how does he steal a living?

Re: Stealing a living
The point that I was trying to make is that he effectively owns it.
If they didn't think he was good enough, then I've absolutely no doubt they'd be employing a "proper celebrity" on a much higher fee, who would simply read from auto-cue.
I'm pretty sure he does a lot more than sit on his backside for an hour for 5 days a week.
You haven't, of course, upset me at all, but it appears to me that if Osman is stealing a living, then I probably did too for 40 years, as did most of my colleagues.

If I remember correctly Richard Osman's debut novel was number 1 in the UK charts ahead Barack Obama's book. Excellent achievement.

A fellow Claret and I were on Pointless before Xmas. Having met and seen both Richard Osman and Alexander Armstrong at close quarters I don't think either of them is stealing a living. But it is fair to say that Osman is by far the friendliest of the two!nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 1:18 pm
