Can't afford to be letting any go without incomings imo considering the injury record of our midfielders plus Dunne leaving would leave us with centre halves. That would be suicidal tbhwarksclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 2:13 pmI cannot be as positive -I am guessing two out on loan (Benson & Dunn), and none in

I don't think we'll make any signings. I just hope none go out.
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I think it's fair to say that, under the old regime, Dyche would know pretty much exactly where he stood in terms of finances available for transfers
Garlick and JB had no reason to hide anything and I'm sure Dyche knew pretty well how much powder was stored in the bank
Indeed, he was quoted numerous times along the lines "I appreciate the financial constraints of a club like Burnley and that the long term future for the club needs to be protected"
He may not have been happy with that situation, (especially last summer) and did start to make some snide remarks but that was the situation where clearly Garlick did not want to use all of the petty cash
January is a notoriously difficult time to do business and the current lack of signings throughout the Premier League back that up
If we have bid circa £5m for the lad from Stoke and they have put out that they are looking for £15m it's a fair assumption the deal won't happen
We could go along the lines of the Gibson deal with a loan and agreement to buy in the summer if we stay up
As for WR who is out there available anyway, maybe Reiss Nelson at Arsenal but the cupboard seems to be quite bare
My real worry is that the current owners would not baulk at putting the club into substantial financial debt. We already have seen our "cash at bank" balance stripped bare and the chairman has said "it's not that important if we get relegated" - really!!!
Sounds like a business model similar to the Glaziers - trouble is we don't have the revenue streams of Man Utd
It's not that many years ago when we were in financial trouble with a transfer embargo and it was only the Flood loan plus Coyle's first promotion to the Prem League that steadied the ship
It will be interesting to see/hear the reaction of Dyche once this window closes
He didn't hold back in his comments on Garlick last summer - will Pace get the same ?

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Have a read of Klopps comments in his media today. He mentions the lack of 80million CB’s available.
Tarks is valued at whatever football clubs want to pay at that moment.
He’s a proven (in a limited system) premier league CB, an international, and he’s not Euro cup tied. He wants to move to further his career.
If Liverpool come knocking, and his agent takes that call, at whatever price we’ve got to consider it.

Ah I’m with you - more a, there’s a lack of £80 million centre backs so it could be to look a little lower down in the price range?Danieljwaterhouse wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 3:00 pmHave a read of Klopps comments in his media today. He mentions the lack of 80million CB’s available.

I’d agree that if a decent offer comes in, we’d be mad not to consider it, providing we have something lined up.

If he wants to pay 80m for a centre half would we not be better off letting him sign either Long or Dunne ?

As it happens, I actually think that Dyche's tone is much different than in the summer. He's not been his usual dismissive self this window. In the summer he kept saying he didn't know the budget and more than once made it clear he expected nothing. On that basis, I think he is far more comfortable that if thinks 'align' as he would say, we will do some business.

His tone is different because he has new bosses. He could humiliate the old board regularly, but I guess he seeing how far he can go at present without it making it look like a dig. Although he did resurrect the "bag of chips" quote only recentlyarise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 3:31 pmYou were "The Orient game" away from a full house there jojomk1!

To be fair to DJW, he’s certainly got some front. To constantly talk like he’s in the know when it’s clear he isn’t, is top drawer. Fair play.

I'll make a prediction, we will sign Kenny on loan from Everton late on Monday and he will sit on the bench for the rest of the season then go back, that will be our full transfer window for January.

The Scots have a saying, I don't know the exact words but the gist is..
"" judge me by my deeds, not my words""
Lots of sycophantic gushing on display here but I've yet to see evidence of anything that deviates from the norms of recent years...not sure a few grumbles about agents fees constitutes some great new radical departure.
Early days yet.... hopefully time (and deeds) will soon bring the much heralded "" exciting times".

Perhaps it’s more the levels to which they act that is the surprising thing and not that they’re just a bunch of money grabbing two hats.
