At least 6 points from Liverpool, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Manchester City. Well done Burnley. Don't be disheartened. It's what you expect with the quality in this Chelsea side and all the help from the ref. Another free hit next but who cares. Let's make sure we beat those around us. Need to be motivated against teams like Fulham and not play like we did at West Bromich Albion. 6 pointers.

We haven't done that bad. Just set ourselves high standards. Still happy today!

Agree, nothing to see here just a tired display against a good side. Be tempted to make a couple of changes against City and then crack on.

Five games in a short space of time, away to one of the big six with a new manager. Not at all surprising. Six points from Liverpool (A), Villa (H) and Chelsea (A) a very good return

Don't mind us losing, especially against sides like Chelsea, but we have to start evolving at some point to be better on the ball. We simply have to keep the ball much, much better. We have to find a way, a formation, that allows us to get a foothold occasionally. The year we finished 7th we were much better at this.

We look shattered today, and the fact we were chasing the ball up and down all game made things impossible.

And won the first 3, now we came up against a team half of which are from the second XI (still world class) playing to impress a new manager.

Most of the fixtures this weekend has been utter dross because everyone is knackered.

Hard work today.

Difficult against a fresh, very motivated side, when most are on their 4th match in a week and a half, where every ounce of energy was needed.

No complaints. Good to see Cork back.

Up the Clarets. Fingets crossed for injuries.

Been saying it for a while, but we will never be that team in a 4-4-2, modern day football doesn't allow us to keep possession enough and we give it away far too cheaply in most games, today being a great example. When we're fresh and have legs in there we can keep up the shape, pressing and get forward but after such a run of games then tiredness comes into play.
God knows why Cork wasn't hooked after 65 with Stephens coming on, can't be asking Cork to do full 90 mins in the space of 3 days and a bit.

Ref was totally on for a home win, possibly our best attacking moment was ruined by the ref falling for Alonzo’s shriek after Lowton tackled him superbly. After that it was clear we would get nothing. Lads looked tired which is to be expected after the shifts they have put in. Chelsea, with all their billions still struggled to overcome us when we were clearly not at the races. Too many Clarets were off form but pouting foreigners who scream and whinge are ruining the game. Anything less than 5:0 against City will be a bonus ! UTC !!

On the lighter side. After a hectic schedule and some tough games this was a Bridge Too Far against a good team like Chelsea. Never mind 6 points from the last two games was wonderful.

First 10 minutes we looked as if we were going to give them a real game. Unfortunately that fizzled out and Chelsea took control . I think if we sat Stephens in front of the back 4 that we could have kept the ball better but hey Ho.

Let’s hope the injury to Wood isn’t too bad.

Agree entirely. The flat 442 just isn't appropriate for this type of game.

Not sure if we have a player who could play like Hendrick did now though - Brownhill, Cork, Stephens, and Westwood are better as the deeper midfielders. I'd put Dwight as the more advanced central midfielder, but then we don't have wide players we can rely on to play every week. It's a dilemma that really does need solving.

No complaints. We were crap and couldn't keep or pass the ball and the only thing that bothers me is that Cheslea are clearly not the side they were a couple of seasons back and are somewhat in transition. They didn't look brimming with confidence IMO and had we been more up for it, we might have seriously rattled them. A shame Barnes wasn't fit as I feel that's the sort of game where he'd have won us a ton of cheap free kicks and relieved the pressure on us, plus we could have got some fight balls into their box.

I agree on that part but it made no difference to the game at all. Im disappointed of course but reality is we've had a great run so far so it was inevitable tbh.

Praying for a couple if signings tomorrow especially a right winger.

Can't be arsed being upset...

3 points at Anfield 😁, easing into the 5th round of the cup at Fulham 😁, Snatching victory from the jaws at home to Villa (coming back twice) 😁 ... today was about what I expected, and I don't expect much different on Wednesday.

These are not the games we need to be worried about in the league. Its West Brom, Fulham, Newcastle, Brighton and Sheff U.

Come on you Clarets

I think this year we're just gonna have to stick with it and hope it sees us scrape through. It's only against the real dominant in form sides where it shows us up. What it does need is your strikers to hold it up well and lay it off well and had Wood done that a few times 1st half we might have had a couple of attempts and caused a few more problems.
Fair play to Chelsea second half, they didn't give us a sniff and were much tighter in their shape, there was no space at all and we just had no ideas or energy to do anything.
Keep the score reasonable against City, keep the goal difference decent and we'll have come through a tough period well with some crucial games in Feb to look forward to.

I’d have thought that we could play Stephen’s, Cork, Westwood, two wingers and JRod up top (who seems to hold on to the ball better). I do think we need a different system for the big boys.

Easy to say with hindsight, but maybe a day to play Taylor left wing, given how we were torn apart on the left.

Cant work out why the manager and coaches could not ensure more support for Pieters on the left.Every time Chelsea got the ball they found an unmarked wide payer on their right. Pieters was tucked so far in that whoever got the ball for Chelsea had no one within 25-30 yards of them.Thats how they got their first goal. Count ourselves lucky we kept it to 2-0, and at least we will have played Man City and Chelsea twice by Wednesday. If we can keep Man City to 2-0 then thats a positive but our wide midfield players and forwards need to offer more.By the way whats happened to Jay this year-he doesn't seem interested

Same problems we always have against City & Chelsea. Our narrow back 4 doesn’t work against those two who play line hugging wing men. The top sides play wonderful cross field passes out wide and our FBs are too far away from them.
We need to go 5 at the back against these two and allow our FBs to stay closer to them.
Take it on the chin and move on. Expect very similar on Wednesday, take that and move on. The next three after that we need to garner points from each game.

A nod to Azpilicueta. Dwight has been up against him a few times now and hasn’t got around him once. No disrespect to Dwight just quality from the guy.

No interview with Dyche on BT? Too busy interviewing Chelsea?
Found this on the BBC.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche, speaking to BBC MOTD: "The best side won. I've got no complaints. In the second half they were by far the better side. We were a bit off in the second half and Chelsea had a better tempo. All credit to them.

"Sometimes people forget there is a vast gap between a team like Chelsea and ourselves but they really turned up in the second half.

"We do have days when the other teams plays well and get a result. It's all about what happens over the course of the season. You have got to hold a threat and today we didn't."

He's not wrong they did play well today, and we weren't at the races, and against the big clubs you're never going to get a result unless all XI turn up and play to their best, that didn't happen today, which is why we were comfortably beaten by the better side, it happens in football, and we've got bigger fish to fry in the next few weeks, so accept the defeat and move on to the 6-pointers we have coming up.

Glen Hoddle said at half time:"Chelsea have so much time and space in midfield it's too easy for them, the Burnley midfield need to do something about it in the second half". Never has a pundit spoken a truer word. We need a total upgrade in midfield.

Disappointing not to even muster one shot on target and the injury to Wood is a concern but looking on the bright side, if we'd been offered a haul of 4 points from games against Villa, Liverpool and Chelsea, I think we'd have taken it so to to have 6 points from those 3 games is a bonus really.

Good to have Cork back as well who I think was our MOM today.
