Think a lot of us will be disappointed tomorrow.MACCA wrote: ↑Sun Jan 31, 2021 9:39 pmChairman admitted he had put "more bidS" in for players Friday, "however that doesnt always mean theyll get accepted"
Lets hope that either they are being considered or if not, at least negotiable.
It would take a very brave or silly man to be very open, make promises and then fail to deliver those promises within 30 days of arriving.
I think 2 will arrive tomorrow, however only possibly 1 might go out now.

Why are season ticket prices not being frozen?
If you mean regards incomings, theres always the next window, it's worked since 2017.

Like i said before. There will be no signings
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
My respect for the club for not paying over the odds ( for a right back we don’t urgently need ) but if we need a player in this window, I do feel we are gonna have to pay over the odds!

It wouldn't surprise me if Kenny has gone out on loan so that we can monitor his performance before agreeing to pay Everton's valuation.
He wouldn't get any game time this season if we had bought him.

Would need time to get Dyche fit and completely unfair if he displaced Lowts in current form.
Not at all saying that RB shouldn’t be an area we look to strengthen, but Kenny wouldn’t have played much assuming Lowts stays fit.

A. Fee could go up
B. More sides interested
C. Everton decide to keep him
Something doesnt add up, maybe weve pulled out to peruse other targets, makes no sense chasing him for a few months, waiting 28 days to faff about with a bid for him to go elsewhere.
We get told we do our deals late as others need to fall into place first, or we pick up scraps.
This signing there was no need to beat off competition, wait for their club to replace first, or wait for the scraps.
Seems very odd, I think we have shifted targets or priorities

Not forgetting that Lowton has just signed a new deal which may have affected our thinking regarding RB.

If we have bid for Kenny, and were quoted £9M, then it makes absolute sense to pull out.
He’s only gone on loan, so the option will be there again in the Summer should we want to pursue it.
With what little funds we have, spending on £9M on a third RB when we have other positions to priority, makes no sense.
I’m not sure what the issue is here, tbh.

To be fair just pick up any national newspaper that discussed the takeover. They practically all mention that the new owners have taken out a loan worth approx 70m to buy the club.

Are the current squad good enough to stay up? - very probably - so no signings tomorrow isn’t the end of the world.
In summer we must find a way to sign younger players with more technical quality. Pace and Dyche need to agree a strategy on how to do this.

If so why have you posted 100 plus times in this thread talking about transfers?
The facts as I see them are, Alan Pace has said they will back the manager with funds, Dyche has mentioned possibilities and the press have reported we’ve bid for players.
So on that basis, I’d suggest the evidence is that we do have money to spend.

It isn't the end of the world, however all the noises from Pace were that we would do business this window, so if we don't get anybody in there may be some disappointment.
Having said that I'd rather we waited until the summer instead of just throwing the cash about on the likes of Kenny, it's hardly a priority area just now when we have Bards and Lowts available.
Totally agree on the young players and technical ability, that's what will allow us to move up a level, and really compete in this league.

At least £7.5m according to Nixon. Just not on Kenny. Clearly not a priority position this window.arise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Sun Jan 31, 2021 10:57 pmSo on that basis, I’d suggest the evidence is that we do have money to spend.

Not particularly arsed either way about Kenny but if whoever is responsible for these things thinks a 23 year old from Everton who by all accounts had a good season in the Bundesliga last year is good enough for Burnley to sign but not worth £9 million then I'm very concerned because that strongly suggests they're entirely unaware of how much transfers cost.

It's a lot easier in a single thread. You can use the search. If you're looking for what Nixon said search for his name. Likewise you can look him up on Twitter because that's where his stories always appear.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Sun Jan 31, 2021 9:13 pmAs a user of the message board, even from the ClaretsMad golden era, I can’t say I’m fan of the single transfer window threads.
I find I have to scroll through the constant moaning, bickering and winging just read what Alan Nixon said.
Am I the only one who starts at the bottom then scrolls up about a quarter of a page before clicking back?
A bunch of different topics all discussing the same thing with be a complete nightmare. It's bad enough as it is with all the duplicate threads.

The transfer discussions on here remind me of Internet Poker for Play Money. People have a dabble and think they are proficient at the game despite never having faced an opponent at a table. Play money is great but it isn't real.
People play Fantasy Football, most very badly and I hasten to include myself. It's great but again it isn't real.
The Football Club have to operate in the real world and I often wonder if some fans really do appreciate the difference between fantasy and reality.
Most people struggle financially, it's true, it's reality, real life.
Yet football talk turns them into Elon Musk characters advocating splashing millions of pounds like it's confetti or Monopoly money.
If we haven't signed a Centre Back, Right Back, Left Back, Right Winger or Striker by 11pm tonight, that's reality.

We're on a reasonable run, with few injuries currently. That is to be celebrated.
Just several weeks ago it was the total opposite and additions were deemed essential.
Why are they no longer essential? A couple of suspensions and injuries and we are back to playing players out of position.
We are gambling with our future by not making further additions to the squad, it's short sighted and bloody frustrating.

If SD says any signings are improbable then it's 99% certain we won't be signing anyone this window. We just have to hope for a fair wind for the rest of the season and that we don't get too many injuries. We are good enough to stay up but as we have seen recently with Sheff Utd and Brighton beating Man U and Spurs, we can't depend on other teams losing.
Let's concentrate on Ralph's STB and wait for the suggested overhaul in the summer (fingers crossed)

So we haven't got a 4th choice centre half and a 3rd choice right back because we wouldn't pay £10 million and £9 million?
And even though we've bid for these players, we haven't got any money?

if after a takeover, and with a struggling team with injured players a constant concern, we fail to strengthen the first team squad, then its slightly pointless all round.
