Well done Jay Rodriguez
Plenty of stick midweek, some of it fair, but plenty completely over the top.
Responds in the best way possible. A goal, an assist, and a role in the first goal too. Good in the air, decent on the ball, worked hard defensively. Hopefully this gives him the confidence to build on it now. It's important that our strikers have end product, and today is a great return to form for him in this space.
Suspect he's carrying a knock that limits a bit of his movement, but battled hard despite this.
Outstanding.

Re: Well done Jay Rodriguez
I think it is clear he's carrying a problem, Dyche alluded to it recently when he left him out for a game (was that Chelsea?), but he looked what he is today, a Premier League quality striker.

One swallow doesn't make summer, but he did look more like the player we love.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 5:22 pmPlenty of stick midweek, some of it fair, but plenty completely over the top.

I just don't think he and Vyds work as a pair. They both need to play off a Wood or a Barnes. Thought Ash had a great game, works his socks off ALWAYS, but a great team performance above all.

Re: Well done Jay Rodriguez
He deserved criticism last match.
He's clearly struggling with confidence as well as very possibly an injury. But we know his heart is good and he's a Claret.
He was excellent today and they workrate of those around him helped lift him up.
Well played Jay. Form is temporary. Class is permanent.

You see his quality with the assist. Great return pass.

Re: Well done Jay Rodriguez
I genuinely don't think he lost a header today, still looks like he's carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders but I loved his reaction to Lowton's goal
Re: Well done Jay Rodriguez
Played really well. Other day someone ridiculously said he was finished.

Re: Well done Jay Rodriguez
He played so well last Spring and has fallen a long way short since the restart. Much better today but his pace is down. Whether that is injury or age related we’ll never know. We are going to need him between now and season end though.

He tweaked his knee on the ploughed field at Leeds. Could be a cartilage problem.

And I loved Lowt's reaction to his goal. Our team spirit is what keeps us up.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 5:35 pmI genuinely don't think he lost a header today, still looks like he's carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders but I loved his reaction to Lowton's goal

Re: Well done Jay Rodriguez
Delighted he scored but the biggest improvement in his performance today was his hold up play. Barnes and Jay really provided us that platform up front to get the rest up the pitch and allow us to play in Palace’ half with the amount they took down from the air and protected.

It was good to see Jay back to his norm today, but I think he works a lot better with Vyds as a partnership.

Good stuff.
We need confidence back in all our players, but games like this will do them the world of good.

Played really well at Fulham and today.
He was absolutely dreadful on Tuesday though.
Like all strikers the confidence improves with goals. Fingers crossed he can build on it.

Re: Well done Jay Rodriguez
Things have to be called as you see them - he stank the place out midweek against modest opposition.
Today was better. But I'm afraid the season's work overall isn't great.

Seriously? ... He's swallowed plenty. Consistently good striker at this level for us and other clubsColburn_Claret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 5:25 pmOne swallow doesn't make summer, but he did look more like the player we love.

Agree with the Wood, Barnes bit though
