There’s nothing genuine about the daily mail and it is unsettling that the pond life that it is gets so readily quoted on here

Rumours that they are looking at Henderson too....
File under lazy journalism....
And just in case it isn’t, add another £10m and you may be taken seriously...

Aye. The guardian seems to get a few mentions and quotes too, so maybe that will help with balancing out the lunatics eh?Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 7:48 amThere’s nothing genuine about the daily mail and it is unsettling that the pond life that it is gets so readily quoted on here

Re: Nick Pope
Heard that rumour a month or so back.
He would be ideal for Spurs, he simply keeps the ball out of the net, which is all they want and need.
However at 30m, theyll need to up their valuation of him to land him, add another 10m.
I don't rate Lloris he's very weak, and if they want to be anywhere near top 4, they need him gone.
Some good news though, at least it only took the one post for "that rag of a paper" type remark.
That's
The Sun
Guardian
The Times
Daily Mail
Burnley Express
Daily Sport
Any more I've forgotten, that are apparently a disgusting paper for one reason or another.

Go back to them breaking the waddle to burnley story, and I think you will find that the mail are as, if not more accurate than all other papers.... 2 yrs left on his contract, with the option of another.
£30 million is the starting point for negotiations, especially as the disaster in waiting went for that much to Everton.

I have no interest in politics so thanks for that comment. For what it’s worth I think most, and probably all newspapers make stuff up. It was a, supposedly, light hearted response to the op. I reckon 90% plus of paper stories on here are pure fabrication and that was the point. Sorry if the Mail is anyone’s love child but it could have been a story from anywhere else tbh.

If that bellend at Everton commanded a 30 million price tag ....Pope has to start at at least 40 million, didnt Kepa at Chelsea cost something like 70 million why do we always under value our players,on the other hand Mourinho could just promote Joe Hart insteadGodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 8:47 am2 yrs left on his contract, with the option of another.

It would be amazing of nobody is looking at Nick, so panic is pointless.
I would hope we would get more than 30 for him.

I would think everyone will be wanting to sign Nick Pope.
I read that Tottenham wanted to sign Dean Henderson, presumably as back up for Nick Pope!

He'll go, money always talks, keepers as brilliant as Pope either keeps teams up or gets them into at least the champions league, if I was him I would move.

If they are offering 30m they can chuck in Winks and Rodon with the cash
Re: Nick Pope
We should probably be thankful he's been here as long as he has. My favourite ever Burnley keeper. If he makes a mistake, it's a shock. That's how good he is. It'd be great to see him competing at the highest level, as upset as I'd be that he's no longer a Claret.

The Daily Mail is actually very good when it comes to sports coverage.
The front pages though are for those pink faced Neanderthalic, racist, knuckle-dragging, flag-shaggers.

Pope is bound to be the subject of huge transfer speculation - he's one of the best in the business.
Anything less than £50 million would be a steal. I know Tottenham are pleading poverty but **** 'em.

Re: Nick Pope
Why is every rumour lazy journalism ? if Spurs want him he will be off make no bones about it, likewise Dwight & Tarks if offers come in for them and who would blame them.

When things are quiet on the football news front journalists still have space to fill in the newspaper so quite often they fill the page with old news.
Re: Nick Pope
I'd be very surprised if Pope and Tarks are Burnley players in September.
No real surprise, and no ill-feeling as long as they go to sides that challenge for Europe (I wonder how Tarks feels about West Ham now).
My only concern is who WE get to replace them... I don't rate BPF and we aren't exactly good at making signings.

I would have thought Liverpool might be interested in Pope and maybe Tarkowski. But of course they aren't foreign albeit Tarks has the Polish name from his geandfather.
On the point of the newspapers. Some have to be more sensational but most are pretty much the same. Not much happening so a slight sniff of a story and its published.

Lol he's only played a few games and done nothing wrong. Bad at making signings like Ings, Trippier, Tarks, Pope, Westwood, Taylor, Barnes, Gudmonson, Defour, Mee, Lowton, Cork, Heaton, Barton etc basically the players who have put us Premier League for the last 5 years them signings?JTClaret wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 12:40 pmI'd be very surprised if Pope and Tarks are Burnley players in September.

Re: Nick Pope
A few sentences saying that Spurs are in for Pope, then a whole article about Mourinho defending his questionable performance.
I very much doubt Spurs will be able to afford Pope this summer, given their £175m BoE loan that they need to repay. And if they do, it'll cost A LOT more than £30m!

Re: Nick Pope
Yes why this thread has descended into the usual tit-for-tat when we should be more concerned whether Nick Pope is going to fly the nest or not baffles me, however it doesn't surprise me in the least as some posters can't help bringing politics in whatever the subject matter.
Any back to the topic in if Spurs are serious about Pope then they should be starting the bidding at £40m minimum, he's still young in goalkeeping terms, and there's every chance he could be the England number one by the summer, so we should be holding out for top dollar, which TBF for outgoing transfers we normally do.
TBH if Nick goes he goes, and I have every faith in Billy Mercer developing both BPF & Norris into decent keepers, and his track record suggests he's more than capable of this task if required.

One thing our previous regime were good at, including the one before, was getting top dollar for our players.
I’ll be very interested to see how we fair this summer if and when we do sell someone.

If Manure want £40m for reserve keeper Henderson then full international Nick has to be North of £60m .9 clean sheets in a struggling team .Two years left so why give him away also I would resign Tom in a player coach role in a heartbeat

Re: Nick Pope
I’m afraid I differ somewhat there woodley...
Wouldnt touch Heaton again I’m afraid... his injury record is not good at all and Mercer’s record at Burnley in the goalkeeping coaching role is quite excellent.
Heaton would be stealing a wage for me I’m afraid, which is quite a statement as he’s one of my fave EVER clarets. Better than Pope in my opinion, but that’s a long time ago.

Re: Nick Pope
Just wanted to use this thread to show my respect to Nick Pope.
Yesterday my youngest put a post on Tiktok - something to do with a poll about the top 5 keepers in the country.... Obviously Pope was top....
Not sure exactly how it works but he copied Nickpopes tiktok name into the post....
Anyhow, yesterday afternoon I could hear a major commotion going on upstairs - during online schooltime....
Nick had actually responded to his post..... !!!!!!! I've never seen a happier 13 year old - he was absolutely made up and he's still talking about it today.

Re: Nick Pope
The best GK should command the best price and £30m is nowhere near that. It should be double that at least plus huge add-ons.
