A fine actor who played a major part in some of the most watched TV drama of all time in the Ken Deirdre Mike love triangle.

Re: Mike Baldwin RIP
He was in a lot of good b&w films away from the cobbles some people might not realise, although he was always associated more with the coronation street role with the soap set of viewers, RIP.

The local media don’t agree.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 1:20 pmI think it was said once but there is no evidence to support it, maybe it was a line from Corrie at some time.

That’s not local media. He’s nothing to do with the Burnley Express other than working for the company that own it.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 2:03 pmThe local media don’t agree.

Maybe you are right about that I’m not sure, I basically googled Johny Briggs & Burnley FC because I was genuinely curious if he was a supporter of the club.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 2:10 pmThat’s not local media. Re: Mike Baldwin RIP
There are a couple of internet reporters for the company (not sure of their name now because they've just been taken over). The bloke who wrote this is one of them and they are able to write on the internet under the name of the Burnley Express which I think is so unfair on those there such as Chris Boden and Dan Black. The one who wrote this article referred to our ground recently as Turd Moor in an article.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 4:02 pmMaybe you are right about that I’m not sure, I basically googled Johny Briggs & Burnley FC because I was genuinely curious if he was a supporter of the club.

Don't think I ever saw Mike Baldwin at the Turf but I saw Len Fairclough plenty of times coming out of the Bob Lord stand.

Re: Mike Baldwin RIP
I think in one episode of Corrie he asked a young Steve MacDonald "will you drive my Jag? up to Terry Eason'at Boundary Garage". You may remember Terry as he lived in the area below the Bull & Butcher. Dont know how Terry managed to get a free advert in the middle of TV show? He had the Boundary Garage at Loveclough.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 1:20 pmI think it was said once but there is no evidence to support it, maybe it was a line from Corrie at some time.

Re: Mike Baldwin RIP
Yes the ‘incident’ at Marl Pits in Rossendale.... absolutely destroyed his reputation and life. It was splashed all over the newspapers, but when he was found not guilty a couple of years later it barely got mentioned. He ended up on the dole living in a flat, penniless...
Really really sad end to a great career, all because of a lie.

Re: Mike Baldwin RIP
The “incident” actually took place at Haslingden Public Baths. Didn’t know he watched Burnley but there is another Burnley connection - barrister for the prosecution was John Jackson, the Burnley chairman. Peter Adamson was found not guilty.
Re: Mike Baldwin RIP
He was a good actor in a series I loved back in the day.

Awful how he was hung out to dry despite the not guilty verdict.

Re: Mike Baldwin RIP
How was he hung out to dry? He was sacked by Granada for selling stories to the press and some years later he admitted the offence to a journalist. His trump card at the case was employing George Carman QC to defend him.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 1:16 pmAwful how he was hung out to dry despite the not guilty verdict.
