Not Dyche's fault. Recruitment has been non existent for 3 (4?) windows now and it's all catching up. A paper thin squad and too many players not really up to it. Our only serious spend being Brownhill and tbh, he works bloody hard, but he isn't PL quality or indeed a winger. We never expected owt today and so we can't be fed up about getting nowt and tbh, we played pretty well going forward and most of the second period seemed to be in their half (weirdly!)
Just a serious question: Why is Dyche hiding what he's saying to Woan behind his hand at 4-0 down? Like Jose is by then remotely interested in our tactics!!!
Dyche turned down numerous players in the summer, including Walcott.

Sean (the untouchable)Dyche. If he's that good why hasn't anybody else been in for him.Why no loan signings??Why not getHowe back, good spotter of young talent. Not has beens ie Dale ******* Stephens
Because let's be fair to the guy, Garlick refused to spend any money in the Summer and then for whatever reason, Pace decided it best to wait in January (which I kind of get as it's far better to recruit sensibly over the coming summer IF we stay up). I honestly don't think that's Dyche''s fault or what he would have done given the choice.

Here was me hoping for my team to be as successful as possible, such as playing in the top league.

Oh well, dare to be different.

Despite the scoreline, which imo was always going to happen, Spurs were just due a game where it all came off, we kept going created chances and carried on attempting to play as we did against Villa and Brighton.
That's very important going forward.
So we were second best, so what. It's still been a good weekend for us, and Leicester was always a better opportunity. Hopefully Wood will be back, and they have a few injuries.

You can't know that for sure. It's more likely that Garlick turned down numerous players because he wouldn't sanction the spending.

I bloody hope so!
Amazon Prime are in the pre-production stage for a series primarily for the Central American market based around PL football. it's working title is "A Peruvian in Cotton Town".
Pace wants a marketable product that's why relegation doesn't matter adds to the drama. New sponsors are being lined up. This is not a football club anymore it is a commodity. Some of you need to wake up and see what is happening. Absolutely no public dialogue between Pace and Dyche.
As fans we are now irrelevant we are only relevant as media consumers.

Were you happy with the style of football under Howe? Afterall, you saw plenty of goals!

Were you happy that season where we saw the most bizarre of high scorelines under Stan? The result is secondary, right?!

Personally, I'm still glad we're dining at the top table. The downside is that we will get stuffed from time to time when world class players are on their game... like today.

I find the level of fantasy spouted on here at times quite mind boggling. Eddie Howe? Because his team were such a fighting force, or because he was so successful keeping Bournemouth up on far more money?

He really has done an excellent job if you think he is the only man who can keep us in the Prem.
I base that on this being his team. Another manager would have a re-build job on. As we rarely spend and some incomings would be flops it will be very difficult for whoever eventually replaces him.

Why all the fuss over Walcott, just checked his stats out, and he has 2 goals and 2 assists, and averages a goal every 666 minutes, which interestingly is a worse minutes per goal ratio this season than Barnes, Jay, JBG, Vydra, Wood, and even Jimmy Dunne, so Saints really aren't getting much bang for their buck if he's on such a large salary.

It was someone above who randomly threw Walcotte's name in. I think they were making the point that Dyche had turned down signing certain players in the summer and I said it was more likely Garlick who did.

Ah! right didn't catch the whole conversation sorry, my point was if we'd signed Walcott though, and he'd returned such meagre numbers many posters would be calling him a waste of money, I do suspect that Garlick did pull rank on any summer incomings though, and we all know why that was, and if we do end up going down, then a lot of the blame will lie at his door ultimately for not investing in the squad when the going was good, even pre-covid we were reluctant to pay money to improve the squad, and we can now see the results of that policy, touch wood it won't cost us our PL status, but the signs aren't encouraging I have to say.

Too many games where we don't turn up. As fans some get carried away with the odd good performance. We talk about the gulf in spending power between many PL sides , however I honestly could not currently see Sheff Utd, Fulham or WBA playing that bad. Before people say that we have more points than all these let me remind you that every season we have been in the PL, we have gone very long stretches of games where we have not won a game. Three tough fixtures ahead, but based on our last few games, all remaining fixtures will be tough. Time for SD to earn his corn

One thing I am struggling with today. We were losing 4-0, and by the time Wood came on Spurs had already made two subs. Even if Wood was being saved for Wednesday then the midfield should have been changed at half time. Cork & Westwood were being totally over run. There is only so many times Westwood can receive a ball and try and hit it first time over the centre half. Jack was really bullied today, and should have been rested earlier. Having got Stephens to join us it would have been good to see him come on at half time, if only to create some competition for Wednesday

If the long ball stuff got us back into Europe or won a cup then I think virtually everyone would be fine with it. But the reality is we're playing that way just to finish 15th or 16th, you can't blame people for questioning if it's really worth it.

His "first" or his "next". I agree that it is quite a long time since he last scored for us in the PL, though it was a memorable one.
(Or do you just mean this season?)
He currently he has 3 PL goals for us.
Fair enough he's now been on the field 47 times for us in PL games, but he's only actually started 15 games. Most of this 32 sub appearances have been for less than 10 minutes, and often lost causes.

Vydra would score more if he had balls to run onto not just aimless punts. I think a dose of realism is need about today, just look about their forward line England centre forward, Son who would get in any top European team and Bale who just oozes class.

So its looking like the messiah Dyche will be on his way after this season or next.Who do we want as our next manager. My 3 suggestions have been shot down,so let's have some names
My top pick would be Steven Gerrard, but whether he'd be interested in coming to Burnley I have my doubts.

It also depends what league we're competing in when Sean finally goes, if we're in the Champ, then somebody like Paul Cook could be a good fit, and he's shown in his time at Wigan that he can get his teams playing good football, which seems to be a priority for some on here.

Entertainment, our budget and the Premier league are sadly non compatible. You can have any combination two of the three, take your pick!

I'm not sure Pace decided to wait...I think more likely he is just lacking a vessel to urinate in.

A lot of people have similar thoughts about Mr Pace, and indeed raised them. My personal position is we cannot know until summer... when I always expected any change of ownership to really start showing. For me the question was settle in, and ask those who know if we have enough to stay up.... soon as the answer came back yes, I think it was inevitable that time would be taken before anything changed.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gerrard was at Liverpool soon. I've got a feeling Klopp might walk in the next year or so.

No it wouldn't surprise me to see him back on Merseyside fairly soon either, he's not going to stay at Rangers forever, and I sense he's already got an eye on the Liverpool gig.

I do agree and I THINK this was probably how it played out, but bloody hell it's going to be a close call I'd suggest!!

Vydra would score more if he had balls to run onto not just aimless punts. I think a dose of realism is need about today, just look about their forward line England centre forward, Son who would get in any top European team and Bale who just oozes class.
I'm not sure that the quality of ball is the issue here.
