Dyche Today
Superb management today. Played on Arsenals weaknesses all game. Used his subs superbly. No better man for the job.
Re: Dyche Today
My partner described him as having limited match day attire.
I suggested that underneath, for Comic Relief, he is wearing suspenders and a bra. All the players and staff aware and all chipped in.

Re: Dyche Today
Dyche opted to protect the draw rather than chase the win, JayRod gave us an extra target for the long out ball to relieve the pressure on the defence which Vydra doesn't. Also an extra bit of height to defend any late corners or freekicks into the box.
Vydra had a great game but given our record of conceding late to Arsenal I think going for the draw was the right decision and he was the obvious player to be withdrawn.

Joe Cole had it spot in, he's projects a calmness which he relays to his players.

I was also surprised that Vydra was subbed but all worked out fine in the end.

Watching Burnley can do you the world of good, Elizabeth.
Re: Dyche Today
I love the way he put an interviewer in his place when he suggested that we were gifted a lucky goal!
Re: Dyche Today
When I saw Jay warming up I thought it would be Wood going off but I assume Sean was thinking of changing it up a bit in the final few minutes .... two big tall front men to aim for should we get a corner or free kick in a good position. I’d go along with that.

Jay's block saved a goal at the end. We now know Dyche will run the Vydra/Wodd partnership for a few more games as it did have some synergy

Re: Dyche Today
Most of the match it was Matty’s pace into space that worked better than the long ball up to Wood. When he occasionally won one they tended to get the second ball.SouthamptonClaret wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 2:46 pmDyche opted to protect the draw rather than chase the win, JayRod gave us an extra target for the long out ball to relieve the pressure on the defence which Vydra doesn't. Re: Dyche Today
I posted on another thread, that's now 3 games Arteta has faced Dyche, and the record is 2 draws and a Burnley victory, so Sean must be doing something right to combat Arsenal's supposedly superior talent.

That could possibly say more about Arteta than it does about Dyche.

Re: Dyche Today
Swings & roundabouts regardless, historically always been a bogey side but eventually you will end up winning & overturning things, wouldn’t surprise me if Everton win again next season at anfield after going gods knows how many years losing there, arteta just happens to be the manager during this period where things are changing.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 6:50 pmThat could possibly say more about Arteta than it does about Dyche.

Re: Dyche Today
Probably yes but that's Arsenal's problem they appointed him, and if he's not up to the job that's not our problem.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 6:50 pmThat could possibly say more about Arteta than it does about Dyche.
You do have to say that with the financial power Arsenal have and the quality of their squad 10th isn't good enough.
Arteta is a lucky boy the FA Cup win last season coupled with the EL run will likely buy him some time, but the powers that be at Arsenal won't be patient forever.

Re: Dyche Today
Sean looking a bit daft with his comments about us not getting a penalty when Vyds was supposedly tripped. Matej kicked the back of Saka’s leg. Definitely not a penalty.

It’s only “not a penalty” if you don’t know or understand the law in question.Dodobdobodobo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 10:50 pmSean looking a bit stupid with his comments about us not getting a penalty when Vyds was supposedly tripped. Matej kicked the back of Saka’s leg. Definitely not a penalty.

Re: Dyche Today
Imagine all PL managers doing it
Who would carry it off best?
Who the worst?
Sam and Roy both get passes from this debate for mental damage limitation reasons.
be honest !

Re: Dyche Today
some days I find him infuriating, some days I detest our style of play, but not even once have I ever thought that he isn't the perfect representative for our club. It will be a very sad day when he does leave

For a bit of balance, I wish he’d stop the bloody hand over the mouth thing he does. He even did it pre match when chatting with one of their bathroom staff.
It’s like some five year old school girl whispering to her besty!
Anyway, rant over, I hope the bloke is backed, buys into Pace’s vision and sees us as the right place to be for years to come.
Based on his seasons per coat ratio, five coats long would be nice.

He is such a character . The banter which goes on in the dug out must be hilarious. There appears to be no rest for the fourth official. He is becoming part of footballing history at the club and elsewhere.
I am prepared to buy him a new match day jacket which he wears whatever the Burnley weather throws at him

Re: Dyche Today
Sorry dobbo definitely was a penalty. Saka’s foot impeded Vydras progress in the box. Vydra prefers to score than fall over in the box. Dyche was right to raise this on MOTD Last night.Dodobdobodobo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 10:50 pmSean looking a bit daft with his comments about us not getting a penalty when Vyds was supposedly tripped. Arteta, like Klopp, can only ever see his own team.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 6:50 pmThat could possibly say more about Arteta than it does about Dyche.
He never gives anyone any credit, and can never understand how they didn't win.
Managers like that have a big problem, because unless you see the problems, how can you fix them.
I don't think Arteta, or Klopp, will be around next season.

Re: Dyche Today
You think it isn't, I don't think it should be, soft as muck, but he stopped Vyds getting the shot away cleanly, and he was nowhere near the ball.Dodobdobodobo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 10:50 pmSean looking a bit daft with his comments about us not getting a penalty when Vyds was supposedly tripped. In the modern interpretation, that's a penalty.

Re: Dyche Today
I thought it wasn’t as per my comments above but after watching the penalty on the United game was similar to ours. So I’m big enough to hold my hands up and say it probably was. Sorry Sean for calling you daft
